Program Overview

Patients with IBD are at an increased risk of potentially preventable infections and comorbid conditions, many of which are treatable. While the exact drivers of these conditions are uncertain, uptake of strategies to potentially negate these ill effects are lagging. Since patients with IBD often identify their GI as their PCP, GIs need to specifically define and help coordinate the unique needs of these patients with other HCPs. The importance of routine healthcare maintenance (HCM) and prevention has emerged as a crucial objective in the overall delivery of care.

Therefore, this CME-certified series is designed to provide clinicians with expert guidance on HCM guidelines and consensus statements for IBD patients and navigate how to implement these strategies for optimal clinical outcomes with particular focus on vulnerable populations.

Target Audience

Gastroenterologists (GIs), GIs in training, surgeons, primary care physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, nurses, and other healthcare professionals involved in or interested in the care of patients with IBD

Learning Objectives

After completing this activity series, the participant should be better able to:

  • Outline the role of health screenings for patients with IBD

  • Identify populations that warrant special considerations in routine HCM recommendations and delivery
