It’s been nearly nine months since Rachel Monárrez took over the top office for Worcester Public Schools. In that time, the superintendent has worked to take stock of the district, from its aging facilities to its administrative positions to its level of preparedness for a technological future.

The Worcester School Committee chose Monárrez last year to succeed Maureen Binienda after it voted not to renew Binienda’s contract, which expired in June 2022. Binienda had served as superintendent since 2016.
