What I’m thinking about these days: 🤔 Have you considered this, too? In my most recent open chat, Sara Border asked me to give my opinion on the most interesting intersection with UX at the moment. This may come as no surprise, but I’m thinking more about the implications of AI and what it will mean for anyone in UX. Will we be responsible with AI tools? Will we know what “responsible” means? Will the human perspective be valued or devalued as more emphasis is placed on the efficiency that AI can provide? How will the experience of using and benefiting from AI evolve? What guardrails should be in place? Will we standardize those guardrails? Will we even think about constructing guardrails? I’m only beginning to form my thoughts about all these things. There are many unanswered questions. Frankly, so much about this topic is scary. I think things such as careful thought, compassion, and empathy should drive our decisions as we enter this space. But I’m realistic about how the world works. I’m afraid we’ll live with the consequences of AI without proper checks in place as a race toward The Next Big Thing continues. Still, for anyone who dives deeply into this topic, there are fascinating UX challenges to consider. What’s the most interesting intersection with UX to you at the moment? Couldn't agree with you more. The first thing that comes to mind when I think of UX is empathy or simply, understanding. True empathy comes from lived experiences, which isn't something AI can access. Sure, machines can use data, which is also valuable. Another important element of UX is trust. Trust is generally earned, proven over time. Are we trusting AI too easily? In other words, and a very long rant cut short, I believe AI has a place, but not without humans.

The most interesting intersection in UX writing (which I don't see separate from brand copy-expression) actually a challenge for brands. A challenge to come up with the human ingredient, authentic while resonating with whom is talking. I see 🌐 overpopulated with blendable lingo on UX places. This is where things fall apart.
