It was exciting until it wasn’t
I really hate giving 1 star reviews, but I just can’t go higher than that.
This book just wasn’t giving what Theodora Taylor books normally give.
It has definitely missed the mark.
In the very beginning it was exciting.
Kayla our FL meets Mick our ML on a plane.
Mick thinks that she’s crying because of how intimidating he looks. But it’s because her ex boyfriend has cheated on her and disappointed her.
Then Mick helps her out with a little alcohol, because a sip of alcohol can always take the pain away. lol 😂 or at the very least calm a person down somewhat.
Anyhow it’s a great jester and it helps her relax a bit, and has her revealing some personal info about her life.
She even promises to never get mixed with another pro athlete again 🙄…
Even though Mick, who is a Pro Athlete, just comforted her, and now she’s kind of getting involve with one. 🤔
But again she doesn’t know. So shhh 🤫.
At this stage they’re both comfortable, or somewhat comfortable.
Then Mick starts flirting and offers a one night stand, and with a bit of hesitation on Kayla part she agrees.
They depart from the plane and go their separate ways.
But Mick can sense Kayla might be second guessing on that one night stand. But it’s all good, because Mick is a man with a plan. No sweat.
This whole part and a couple scenes after is exciting. But then it just falls flat. Don’t get me wrong there are small interesting parts. But not at all exciting.
There is not a lot of friction or action in this story.
It’s very lacking.
You have the main plot, which clearly, it’s a question of how she finds out, and reacts to his deceit and excuses.
But other than this, the main plot of the story has no friction at all. It’s a straight and narrow road with no possible side entries.
Compare to Theodora Taylor others books, that I throughly enjoy and love. They tend to have a lot of action going on.
For example.
A FL with a backbone, or a ML with a chip on their shoulders. But most especially, you can feel the danger and alpha-ness just oozing off the pages. It’s thrilling and will have readers drooling to turn the next page to get more.
But Mick kind of gave me wanna be alpha. In the very beginning he gives off that alpha feeling, but the more you read it wears thinner and thinner.
Between Kayla and Mick they give me very much teenage love. And as sweet as that is, it was a no for me. I need me an alpha male and an alpha female. Or at the very least a bit more action and conflict.
As for this book it’s a no, but anyone else you might enjoy this book more than me. Who knows, your taste could be different from mine, and you might want to read something pure sweet, with only a tad bit of spice. 😊

Going into this book I was scared it would be instalove because it is barely 200 pages. And it was. It was more instalust at first, which I can understand more, but after 24 hours he’s all I love her.
I can get over calling her boobs globes, but I cannot get over his d being referred to as the Eiffel Tower.
Something part that really bothered me was how the MMC talked. He seemed more pirate and illiterate than British and it was taking me out of the story so much. This book would normally only take 4-6 hours for me to read if I had gotten sucked in, but it took all day.
The only redeeming part of this book was the big love confession/gesture made by Mick at the end and that I was finally done.

Kayla wins a trip for two to Paris and she finds herself alone. She is somewhat fine until the flight attendant seats Mick next to her. She starts crying and he can’t help but make her feel better. Kayla swears off dating professional athletes and Mick is hiding a secret.
The romance aspect was completely insta love. Events were happening quick yall! That just fell flat for me and I did not enjoy it much.
The writing was not bad at all, but the story fell flat for me. I just could not get into the book much. I also could not get behind Mick’s lingo and verbiage. That does not mean someone else would not enjoy this book.
I am unsure what happens in the end, but I can only assume the two main characters end up together 😬

Kayla tried to get on my nerves with her "I'm sorry" all the time. She initially aeemed like a doormat. But aa the story progresses, she's not a doormat at all. Mick... well, he's a lier. But I guess henhad his reasons. Lol I liked it. Happy reading!

I was lucky to receive an ARC copy of this book! I love a good spicy, sports Rom Com! This was my first book by this author, really enjoyed it! The book releases Jan 28th, definitely recommend checking it out!

Well Worth the Wait! 🔥
When I saw the pre-order for this novel, I clicked! I woke up at 1 a.m. thinking, today’s the day for the newest Theodora Taylor! I couldn’t resist from first page to last. What a delicious treat! Now, I’m going to back to sleep with my heart full. So grateful for this swoony, poignant, exquisite story.

Overall good book. He fell first trope never fails to disappoint me.

Mick was very communicative about his feelings for Kayla and I love that. I love how he made her feel cherish and everything. The book was an easy read, I loved it so much that I was disappointed at the ending. It felt too abrupt for me.
Outside of the romance plot, I really enjoyed that Kayla’s race wasn’t the main topic. Sometimes I’m tired of reading interracial romance where the main plot is the male character preaching about “black is beautiful”. Kayla’s character growth was fun to see, I definitely was rooting for my girl 🥰🥰.

Kayla in Paris follows the FMC Kayla who finds out her American Football player boyfriend of four years was cheating on her right before leaving for an all expense paid vacation to Paris. While on board she’s analyzing her pass relationship and starts to cry. What Kayla doesn’t expect is to be comforted by the rough talking sexy Brit who is now assigned to seat her ex should be sitting in. What makes it even more interesting is the fact that he offers an universal rocking on night stand.
Little does the FMC know is that that MMC is a world famous football player and she has caught his interest with her charming personality and honesty.
This book was so easy to read and I got sucked in right away by all the tropes. The MMC is such a flirt with a filthy mouth. I loved the way that both characters were able to open up about their insecurities. Mick is such a sweet heart and Kayla brings out the better side that people are not used to seeing.
In addition the side characters added to the story, Bruno you have my heart forever.

Pov: when you go on a couple trips to Paris alone cuz your ex boyfriend dumped you, but meet a hot British guy on the plane, have a one night stand and pretty much insta love.
Can't relate really but that's the story of kayla and Mick in a nutshell.
It was a quick read around 200 pages which scared me a little, and my fears came true because it was insta love. 😭 The storyline was the perfect formula for a cute romcom but.....it fell flat. The characters gave a very 2-D feel, I couldn't just imagine them as real people as I usually do.
I'll be a little honest here and say...the MMC was a little too asshole-y, and his way of 'british-accent talking' was not it.
The only redeeming part was the confession at the end.

I'm not much for sports books but this was SO good and funny! A 1st class plane ride is the beginning of it all. Kayla was a woman who's relationship fell apart. Mick was a football player trying to work on his own future. Secrets, lies and deceit follow. Mick brought out the hidden woman in Kayla and she brought out the new Mick. Truths are revealed and decisions are made. Suzie revealed another secret but her reasoning was on point and Kayla knew it. I love Mick's speech in the office, Dwayne got what he deserved in rhe end. Looking forward to the next book.

Theodora Taylor Does It Again!
I love how I get sucked in to every one of this author’s stories. She truly has a way of writing great characters that make you root for them. Ugh! I was I could read this book for the first time again. So cute! Can’t wait for the next book in the series! Very interested in hearing Suzie’s story!

The hunter becomes the hunted. The lion becomes the sheep. I felt like a third wheel because I felt like I was with them. I wanted to stay at the part where they were happy and in love but also wanted the truth out of the way to get to the happily ever after. The ending was totally romantic and sweet and I wanted more

in this short spicy romance, kayla wins a trip to paris and plans on taking her nfl player boyfriend in hopes that he'll propose. but, before they can leave he cheats on her. on the plane ride there, she meets mick who talks her into coming back to his hotel with him. little does she know, he's a world famous english football player.
i really enjoyed this book, and i feel it had quite a bit of depth for the length. it was fun, sweet, and slightly frustrating at times. if you're not into insta love this won't be for you. i recommend for those who are just looking for a quick spicy romance to read.
the characters were well written, though i found myself slightly frustrated with both of them at times. this is far from a literary masterpiece, but it was exactly what i was looking for at the time.

This was such a fun read. This book immediately reminded me of the show Emily in Paris. I mean, I would find it hard to say no to a handsome Brit as well. Yes, Mick is lying about who he is, but the way he caters to Kayla and spoils her, in Paris of all places, is every girl's dream. Also, Mick's Paris teammates sound like a fun bunch to be around. My only complaint would be how sudden the ending came up. I just wanted to read more about there HEA and their new life in Paris. Atleast, that's where I'm assuming they're both living ;)
Kayla is on an all-expenses-paid trip to Paris. What should have been a romantic getaway for her and her boyfriend, she's experiencing it solo because right before her trip she finds out that her NFL player boyfriend has been cheating on her. She's on her second and final leg of her flight where she meets a rough-talking Brit named Mick. He's handsome, patient, and listens well as he lets her pour out all her troubles to him and explains why pro athletes are now off her list. Before deplaning in Paris he proposes a "universe rocking" one night stand and to her own surprise, Kayla says yes, because why not? What she doesn't know is that Mick isn't quite who he says he is. He's a pro soccer player from London looking to snag a huge contract with a Paris soccer team. Their one night stand turns into a days long fling and with each day that passes, Mick finds it harder to tell Kayla the truth about who he is. His feelings for her have grown so strong that he's scared that she'll run away from him once she learns his true identity.

But before the trip, thanks to her best friend (who is great, by the way) she discovers that Dwayne is cheating on her.
Still heartbroken, Kayla decides to go to Paris, but she didn't expect that on the second leg of the flight she would meet someone who would change her plans completely.
Mick immediately has a crush on Kayla and knows they can have a great time together, he realizes that she doesn't recognize him so he gives himself the opportunity to be more open with her, to talk and after the flight he realizes that his plans and priorities have started to change.
It is funny, romantic and if you like insta love you will love this story, the chemistry of the main characters is great and the development of the story is very good because it is neither too long nor too short, it is concise and to the point.

This was my first time reading this author, so I went in with no expectations. However, this book was absolutely charming rollercoaster romance. It’s time to meet Kayla and Mick.

After her cheating ex broke her heart, his and Kayla Edwards's planned Paris trip for two has now turned into a broken heart party for one. Once on the plane, Kayla is decides that maybe her trip and some alone time will soften the blow of betrayal. At least that's what she thought until she saw her seat mate who has given her other ideas that would possibly make her trip to the City of Lights so much more fun.
When Bad boy footballer Andrew Michael Atwater, Mick for short, is shown to his first class seat on the plane he never expected it to be next to what he assumes is a avid crying fan. When he decides that enough and is enough an tells her so, he's shocked to learn that not only is she not a fan of his, she's also not a fan of his career. Once the shock of not being automatically adored wears off he finds that he likes the fact that not only is she not a over excited fan she also has no idea who he is and that along with her warm personality and undeniable allure makes him want to spend as much time with her as he can. And Mick knows just the way to make that happen if only he can get Kayla to agree. Kayla and Mick embark on what it is only supposed to be a holiday fling and since he's not being completely honest with Kayla and she's not looking for anything permanent this should be the perfect arrangement for the both of them, right?
Kayla and Micks story is a sweet and passionate one of almost insta-love which is going great until the reality steps in and they both have to decide if what they have is worth fight for. It's a quick read but packs a lot into the short story. I enjoyed getting to know these two but also felt like there were some parts of the story that glossed over or not discussed enough such as the fallout from Mick decision to leave one team to play for another. Overall this was a great story and I hope to revisit with these characters in other books in the series.

He's a famous (soccer) athlete, a fact she'd shared she was no longer interested in dating, so he decides to hide it from her. Mick loves her light and warmth and wants to hold on to her and that feeling as long as possible, plus he wants to make sure she doesn't renege on her promise of a one-night-stand where he rocks her World.
As she starts to disembarks and say goodbye it sounds permanent and Mick knows that promise is never gonna happen. Mick finds a way around her wavering on her promise. Once she finds out, she's furious and rightly so. He convinces her to stay for lunch and she stays for more. The time they spend together is healing for both of them and Mick shares his painful past, he doesn't want to lose her, but of course his efforts at attempting to reveal his deception are thwarted.
When Kayla's cheating ex refuses to give up on her, it all implodes and there is no way to circumvent the pain of betrayal, in that moment. The word no is not a word Mick is accustomed to hearing and now that he's found a woman unlike any other, he refuses for it to be their ending—not without giving it the fight of his life.
I loved this story, but I wanted an epilogue. Why? Because I wanted more of this couple—together—now vs. waiting for the bonus scene to drop on February 4. There's a way to satisfy readers AND leave them wanting more at the same time. Recommended: Read It!

Okay I'm not a fan of insta-love okay, it's just unrealistic, but I loved this book! It was too freaking cute! I was giggling/laughing from the get go. Also a very steamy book, if you know what I mean 😉 Both Kayla & Mick are so deserving of love and I'm glad they found each other.
After Kayla gets humiliated by her 4 year lame excuse of a boyfriend, she's forced to go on a Paris trip she won at a raffle alone and meets a very handsome fella on the plane. Said handsome fella is instantly attracted to Kayla and offers her one night of fun😏. Kayla who's a very practical person declines, but with much convincing accepts.
The handsome fella names Mick lies to Kayla and says that he won with luxurious trip to Paris, but in fact is there to get a contract in a new soccer team. They spend 3 days together and in these 3 days both Kayla and Mick are more vulnerable with each other than they've ever been with anyone else. It was adorable seeing Mick a literal giant come up with different ways to convince Kayla to say even if they agreed to just one night. And later on win her over when he messes up by hiding who he is.
Because I'm a practical person I'm just confused about how they are going to work things out and live together when they're together. The end was so sudden. I know Kayla moves to Paris, but like she is going to work or not there? Question that are probably ruining the high from the romance, but that's me lol
Overall the book was great, funny and wonderful fluffy romance that will make you all warm inside! With a great limo scene :)

Newly broken-up Kayla is on her way to Paris. Her ex-was supposed to be on this trip with her, but after he was caught cheating, Kayla decided to enjoy the trip on her own. To her surprise, someone was sitting in what she thought would be an empty seat for the trip. What she didn't know about the unexpected passenger, he was a world famous football/soccer player on his way to Paris. As the two started chatting, Mick realized Kayla had no idea who he was. So he played along and invited her to spend some time with in Paris. To his surprise, she accepted. After a very hot and intense evening, both decide to spend a few more days together. Kayla is being treated like the queen she is--not that she was used to this behavior w/her ex--and she's loving it. As Mick gets to know Kayla, he really likes her. Of course, Mick's secret is eventually discovered, and they both have to make some important decisions.
This was my first by Theodora Taylor, and I enjoyed her writing. Lots of heat, but also a great story.
Wesleigh Siobhan and James Joseph did a wonderful job narrating! I'd love to see these two team up more in the future.

This is was my first introduction to this author and I am pleased!!
Kayla in Paris follows the FMC Kayla on her all expense paid trip to Paris! While she is on board of the plane she's trying to figure out what went on during her pass relationship. What Kayla doesn't expect is to be comforted by the rough sexy talking Brit who is now assigned to sit in the seat she thought would be empty beside her. What’s even more surprising is the offer the sexy Brit has to offer her.
Mick wasn’t expecting to sit down and be all consumed with the crying American sitting beside him. But Mick also isn’t telling us all the truth either.
This book was so easy to read and I got sucked in right away and read it in one go. The MMC is such a flirt with a filthy mouth (and had me blushing and that takes a lot 😂). I loved the way that both characters were able to open up about their insecurities.
Mick is such a sweet heart and Kayla brings out the better side that people are not used to seeing.

what a perfect little pick-me-up book! i sat down and read the entire thing in one sitting, it had me smiling and laughing through the whole thing.
it’s definitely an easy read, and it served as the perfect pallet cleanser between some darker, heavier romances that i’ve been reading through.
the book starts with kayla on an airplane headed to paris thinking reflectively of her most recent relationship, when a hot, semi-grumpy stranger plops down in the seat that was supposed to be for her ex. kayla and this stranger, who she finds out is named mick, chat throughout the flight and when it lands, neither of them are quite ready to say goodbye.
there were so many moments that i loved in this: the eiffel tower scenes, mick being an absolute lost man, & kayla wearing her heart on her sleeve were just a few. kayla’s reactions to everything were EXACTLY how i would’ve reacted

Kyla and Mick's story was short, but in the meantime it was quite interesting.
She was on a plane to Paris and her heart was broken, because she was supposed to be going with her ex-fiance. On the plane she meets a gorgeous man, who is actually a famous UK football star, but she doesn't recognize him. Their meeting leads to a hot and steamy proposition from Mick. A proposition where he actually rocks her world around. He is so smitten by Kayla that he hides his identity and their adventure begins...
Even though I am a lover of insta-love romance, this one was a bit different, and they actually needed time for their love to blossom. I loved all of their banter interactions and the unbelievable attraction that grows into a deep love.
Overall, I liked reading Kayla and Mick's love story.

A proposition where he actually rocks her world around. He is so smitten by Kayla that he hides his identity and their adventure begins...
Even though I am a lover of insta-love romance, this one was a bit different, and they actually needed time for their love to blossom. I loved all of their banter interactions and the unbelievable attraction that grows into a deep love.
Overall, I liked reading Kayla and Mick's love story.

I enjoyed another fast paced book by TT. I like it when she has cameo appearances in books from characters in other books. This appearance of Max Benton prior to his own book and that of his brother gave a slight insight into his lifestyle prior to their own stories. However the time line is skewed. I don't think a person who truly always plays it safe would have changed her mind and gone off and hooked up with a total stranger that she met on a plane, but if you can get over that hurdle and see someone take a risk just once, then maybe the rest would follow. Mick is a terrible liar and that fault in his personality, gah. His true love confession in the end doesn't quite make up for his bad behavior, but I guess we all have actions we regret. I think she would have trouble later in the relationship always doubting the truthfulness of his tales. I like it though

An entertaining story
This is the first in this series, but actually my 2nd read (as I read book 2 first).
This author has a way of making the reader feel as if they are part of the space these characters inhabit. Kayla has been a rule follower forever, to her detriment. When she meets Andy/Mick, their chemistry overrides all her senses.
Mick, who is thrilled to not be recognized as a professional athlete for once, decides to begin flirting with Kayla. I enjoyed the organic attraction between these two, and empathized with his desire to be anonymous for a bit.
But as we all know, lies are never a good idea, and things blow up in a big way!
I really enjoy this author's creativity and skills to bring these characters to life for me. I am now caught up in the series, and Can. Not. Wait for the next one!!
