Full Battle Rattle is book 7 in the OPS series and should be read in order. I REQUIRE INTENSE SUPERVISION. That’s what they say about me. In fact, it became my nickname—IRIS. Yes, I like to blow stuff up. Yes, it’s more exciting than dismantling a bomb. Is it my fault I have a thirst for exhilarating work? So, I went on this job that was less than thrilling. My team was supposed to solve a series of murders, but that’s not really my thing. And the worst part was keeping an eye on this woman. Jane Layne. Shayla Jacque. Detective Jane Blackthorne… Blackwood? Who has that many names? As a mystery writer with a flare for the dramatic, she’s determined to solve the murder cases based on her very own books. She’s smart as a whip and entertaining to be around. But there’s one thing I can’t stand. Her fascination with her neighbor. Alexander Pierce. He’s a smarmy lawyer who has her wrapped around his little finger. And I bet that’s larger than what he boasts down below. Between the backhanded compliments and those pretentious suits, I’m not sure what she sees in him. And don’t get me started on her informant. Tall, suave…a version of me, if I’m being honest. All these men falling at her feet, and where do I fit into the equation? Why am I not in her books? Granted, she just met me, but that’s beside the point. If I want to be the main character in her life, I have to stop playing the supporting friend. I just hope she doesn’t blow us up first.

“I Require Intense Supervision!”

The following ratings are out of 5:
Romance: 💙🖤💚💜
Heat/Steam: 🔥🔥
Story/Plot: 📕📗📙📘
World building: 🌏🌍🌎🌍🌎
Character development: 😔😅😂🤣

The Hero: Marcus Slater (a.k.a. IRIS - I Require Intense Supervision) - he works for OPS (Owens Protective Services). He is former military, and his specialty is explosives. He can dismantle just about any bomb or explosive ordinance, but what he really loves is to make bombs and blow things up with them. It’s what he lives for and is always on the lookout for times when he can put his skills to use. Sometimes to the detriment of the company, like when he blew up their former headquarters, though he did take out a slew of bad guys in the process.

The heroine: Jane Layne (a.k.a. Shayla Jacque) - she is a Luddite and a mystery writer who has written over twenty books, the last of which was her best to date. She was now having trouble coming up with new storylines, not wanting to be predictable. She has a big crush on Alexander Pierce, the attorney that lives next door. She sees him as a romantic hero who she would write about if she wrote romance novels.

The Story: when 6 murders occur in a relatively small city in South Carolina, a local officer trying to tie the murders together discovers that each murder closely follows the murders in Shayla Jacques first six books from her mystery series. OPS ends up getting hired by Jane’s publishing company to find out who is murdering people and also to protect the author in case the murderer turns his sights on her.

I love the running funnies in this series. I wouldn’t call them jokes, because they are mostly just funny situations or things that make me laugh. Like the fact that New Guy can’t die, Fox’s love of torture and Funyuns, or the way the guy’s think that all women get turned on by auto mechanics and the OPS guys don’t get how they can live up to that. There are quite a few things like that, even though they don’t sound like they would be funny, when this team goes on and on about these things, they end up being hilarious.

“We can’t trust a man who would keep secrets from us. Even if they are about the boss. If he’ll keep those secrets, what if he chooses to keep really important ones?”
“Yeah, like if we’re all about to die, but he doesn’t tell us, because he’ll live anyway.”
“Exactly.”
“Slider?”
“I say throw him in the river and watch him drown.”
“Except he won’t drown, because he can’t die,” I pointed out.
“Maybe we could hold him under until he stops breathing. Nobody would know. We could say he got caught on a log and the undercurrent trapped him beneath it. And then everyone would hold this massive funeral for him, just to laugh at the fact that he could indeed die.”

Overall, I didn’t like this book quite as much as some of the others. It didn’t have me laughing out loud like some of the previous books, though there were still some very funny parts. There was also quite a lot of action and a good mystery to solve, so I was kept interested throughout the entire book.

What an awesome read this series gets better and better the read was down right hilarious! As always this story has amazing characters we have to say that our favorite character is Fox that guy just cracks me up time and time again. The whole cast if being honest and the woman of these teams are the bomb!

The plot was fun and suspenseful and we loved the fact that it revolved around a woman who writes mystery books it had a romance twist as well as a mystery twist.

Jane was a train wreck but, in a good way she was messy and smart and beautiful and when she was in writing mode everything around her went to he** in a hand basket . She was so funny one thought that comes to mind thinking of her is she is one hot mess! Her first date was downright hilarious .Throughout the whole book I did nothing but laugh. Loved this woman's sense of humor as well as her clever mind.

Iris was a character that just cracked us up with him constantly blowing stuff up to his possessive and protective streak. Loved seeing the fun and flirty side of him and the camaraderie with his team as well as with Jane even the sexy side of him.

Jane and Iris were perfect for one another their chemistry and sizzle obvious for all to see now they need to see it themselves or will they need a push? Love that these men fall hard and fast for their women already denying their already caught but, loved the drama and messy bits it takes to get there.

Overall an awesome intriguing plot that had you guessing who done it and in the next breath changing your mind but, one thing we agreed on with Iris is that Alexander Pierce was a snake in the grass from the moment we met him with his greased back hair and expensive suits and backward insults he wasn't fooling us one bit of who and what he really is. Loved the story it was a page turner and if your not reading this author's series you are missing out on an awesome author who takes you on some amazing adventures that are filled with so many lol moments.

Detective Pete Johnson is looking into murders that are happening in town but he can’t seem to figure out how they’re all connected.
His mother comes to visit him and he starts telling her about them. She sees a clue and figures out that they are the same murders from the mystery books that she gave him to read… which he did not lol. Detective Pete Johnson goes and investigates some places to try and see if the murders really are following the books. Let’s just say that Detective Johnson is at the wrong place at the wrong time and and is accused of the crime that’s committed at that scene.
Iris and the team are sent to help clear Detective Johnson’s name by looking into the murders and they’re also assigned to protect the mystery writer herself which she is by the way not happy about.
This book kept me turning pages because once I thought I figured it out it would take a turn and make me think it was someone else.
Iris is super jealous of Alexander and for the life of him will not admit it. But when he does and finally admits it all I can say is that it was totally worth the wait!!!

Here are some of my favorites from the book that cracked me up!,,

“We could wait for the bomb squad,” he argued. “I am the fucking bomb squad. Did you think the army sent me for training at Santa’s workshop?”

“Yeah, you expect us to walk the explosives out of here?” Thumper asked. “It’s like a fifteen-minute walk.” “I’ve seen that episode of Grey’s Anatomy,” Slider scoffed. “Here’s a hint. The guy carrying the explosives

“Are you fucking insane?” I shrugged at that. I really was, and I was okay with that. I got shit done and gave zero fucks about what anyone else thought about it. “I suggest you run in the other direction if you don’t want to get hit by this bad boy.”

“Did he ask you first?” She didn’t say anything, but I swore I could see her blush in the dark. “Oh my God, he did!” She swung a pillow at me and hit me in the head. “Go to sleep.” “I want my twenty bucks.”

It’s time for the next installment of WTF Giulia. We left off with Tactical Vomit. Let’s see what she has in store for us now. As usual, this review contains spoilers, bad language, and general nonsense.

Spoilers coming…………………

Turn back now if you don’t want them…………….

You’ve been warned.

Right off, I wanna know who Hunter is too. But instead I get to learn all about IRIS. I’m really looking forward to this. Someone who requires intense Supervision is bound to be fun.
What in the National Treasure is going on?
Aww Jane. I too stare at my keyboard and screen hoping for some inspiration.
OK. Saying it early this time. WTF Giulia?! I’m only on chapter 4 and my brain is flying away..
Poor Cash. He’s going crazy not knowing.
And now is the time where I get lost in the story and don’t take any notes. Craziness ensues, things get blown up (surprisingly not IRIS’s fault this time), someone it interrogated, and a love story is blooming.
And that a&$hat is dumped.
I just love Fox. He’s so weird.
And I think I need Lark’s story. Poor unwilling participant.
And IKE. What’s his deal?
Twists and turns and an obscure killer guy. Didn’t see that one coming.
HOLY S&$^! I definitely didn’t see that coming.
Well… now that I read a little farther, maybe I did. Just not this way.
And things are all wrapped up in like 2 pages. Jane is just perfect for IRIS and I loved their book. Can’t wait to see what’s in store for us next.
I’m loving the lighthearted banter in OPS. Another great book to add to your shelf.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.

Oh boy we finally have the main man of OPS this reader has been waiting for, IRIS. Now this is not your typical bombs exploding, gunshots everywhere story, okay wait it does but the heroine is the least one you would think going up against IRIS himself. We have a Plain Jane, her words who hard to believe is an author who created a detective that can solve mysteries with kick ass moves. The problem is someone is copying the murders in Jane Layne's books and they want her to finish so they can do the next kill. Coincidence or not but somehow the men of OPS are in the case and IRIS knows it is never an easy job. All IRIS aka Tate knows is bombs, how to dismantle and make them so these feelings he has for the author is well explosive to him. Guys like him don't belong with a woman like her but man Giulia Lagomarsino sure knows how to pack up the heat and suspense so to speak. Seeing these two go at it was hot and well definitely nothing these two expect. It may be book 7 in the series but the girls are back as well and feel a friendship with Jane. One thing about Giulia Lagomarsino and her men they crave action and suspense but once the girls come in readers watch out for double the fun. There's still so much more in this series and once again Cash is up to his hands with this merry men of a team. Loved it.

Lots of Sparks and Excitement, You’ll love it!!!

If you haven’t read any of Ms. Lagomarsino’s security books/series you are really missing out. She has a writing style all her own and once you’ve read one book you’ll be rooked and need to read them all. Her style shines through in Full Battle Rattle. It’s got suspense, danger, twists, romance and of course laughs. The cast of main characters in this series are all up front and present in their usual chaotic but successful form (Poor Cash, their boss). This is IRIS’s story (IRIS = I Require Intense Supervision), and boy does his call-name fit. Being a demolition expert he developed a love for blowing things up, which trust me isn’t always a good thing. He and his team are sent to protect a mystery author while solving a string of murders that seem to be following the murders in her books. What he doesn’t expect to find is a sexy, sassy, headstrong woman (Jane) that is constantly underfoot because she wants to help solve the murders. I mean how can he keep her safe if she keeps running into danger? The banter between the two is fantastic as is the banter between all the guys.

This one will keep you on your toes as you smile, laugh, and/or worry throughout. I can’t recommend Full Battle Rattle and all the Owens Protective Services books enough. Grab the up, you won’t be sorry you did.

My lawd, the people of OPS are out of their ever lovin' minds insane, and I CANNOT get enough! Full Battle Rattle is our resident bomb guy, IRIS' (I Require Intense Supervision) story, and how he found his person, whose crazy matches his crazy LOL! There's a best selling mystery author named, Jane, who is straight up a hot mess, and I do mean hot mess (it really kept me laughing hard), who has a serial killer killing along the same lines as her series which is how IRIS  came into her life. IRIS is drawn to Jane (despite his first reaction to her life) and the sparks are definitely flying between them, however, Jane is drawn to her neighbor (a real piece of work that I couldn't stand) so it definitely gets very interesting with a little help from his friends LOL! I swear to all that's holy, this brilliant author keeps me laughing hard with every book to the point that when I'm having a bad day, I'll pick up a book I've already read to make it better, plus, the suspense is always on point with twists coming in hot. Not to mention I have my suspicions along the way, it never turns out like I'm thinking so she's brilliant at keeping me guessing. I LOVED this book (like all of her other books), so there's no doubt in my mind, EVERYONE needs it in their lives! HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Another great read by Giulia. Her characters come to life on the pages as you read. This is book 7 of the Owens Protective Services (OPS).

The main character is Jane Layne aka Shayla Jacque who is a mystery writer that someone has taken her books and is killing people based on the characters in her books.

OPS is tasked with protecting Jane after a number of murders in her small town. Of course, Jane is not happy when a bunch of ex-military guys show up at her house and begin taking over.

She also is mostly a shut-in when she is in writer mode and doesn't like the fact that all this is happening to her.

Also, her next-door neighbor Alexander who she is smitten with decides he wants to take her out on a date.

This has the OPS guys in protector mode, especially IRIS (acronym for I required intense supervision).

Over the course of the book, other characters come into play aka wives and girlfriends of the guys who are trying to keep Jane safe. They come in and out of her home without any knowledge from the guys and most times scare Jane half to death as they pop out of closets, bathrooms, etc.

This book has lots of action, smack talk and overall humor that Giulia is so wonderful at creating.

I can't wait for the next book in this series.

I couldn't wait for IRIS'S story!!
When Detective Pete started looking into the murders happening in his town he had a gut instinct they were related somehow but he couldn't pinpoint the connection. With the help of his mother they figured it out.
As Jane's characters started talking to her in her head, her creative juices began to flow. Pounding out the story as fast as her fingers were clicking on the typewriter.
"As a mystery writer with a flare for the dramatic, she’s determined to solve the murder cases based on her very own books."
After the Ops team is called in to protect Jane she feels the need to insert herself in the investigation to help finding the serial killer who is copycating her books.
As IRIS and Jane's attractions grow there are obstacles thrown in their path leading them down a dangerous road.
Cash knows Eva is hiding a secret that could possibly destroy their relationship.
Special appearances from the Ops women.
Perfect description of Fox!!
"Fox was like a fascinating bug that you wanted to stick under a microscope and study. The wilder the ideas, the more you wanted to see what actually went on inside his brain."
So much humor, action packed drama, mystery and suspense.

Full-Battle-Rattle is Giulia Lagomarsino's 7th Owens Protective Services (OPS) Book. You'll meet again many of the main characters, the men and women of OPS that the previous books featured. If you are not reading the author's books in order I urge you to do so or you are missing a real treat. Each book is a stand-alone, but in order they are just so much richer. This book puts the spotlight on one of my favorites, Marcus Slater, aka IRIS (moniker for "I Require Intense Supervision"). IRIS is a trained, battle tested and hardened explosive ordnance disposal specialist (which translates to him being trained to dismantle bombs) who has a reputation for really liking explosives and/or he just enjoys "blowing shit up." Full-Battle-Rattle introduces readers to the new character, Shayla Jacque, a bestselling crime mystery book writer, whose books are all about canny Detective Jane Layne. This is another thrilling and great fun read by this author, who infuses each new and old character with their own unique idiosyncrasies and skills that add such charm to each of them. I am so much looking forward to Book 8.

This was so good on so many levels. It’s like getting a story in a story.
Jane is a mystery writer and has a crush on her neighbor. He’s, sexy, handsome, rich and a total prick. lol I never got what she saw in him lol.
IRIS is a bomb expert and always in trouble for blowing stuff up. ( hense the name… I Require Intense Supervision)
The team he is on is sent to protect Jane and help solve a string of murders that seem unconnected until the cop’s mom sees they seem to be following her favorite mystery writers books.
We get the mystery unraveling, a peel at a book she is working on and the romance. Several of the other guys ( and the women) show up too. Fox was one of them and he’s my favorite.
I just knew this book would be good and it was from the characters to the story. As usual. The humor that I like so much was there in spades and there was plenty sexual tension with one really hot on page sex scene.
I do suggest you read this in order but all the books are so good you won’t be sorry!

If you have not read the below I would recommend reading those books(s) first:
In The Trenches: An OPS Protector Romance Novel (Owens Protective Services Book 1)
Nuclear Option: An OPS Protector Romance Novel (Owens Protective Services Book 2)
Charlie Foxtrot: An OPS Protector Romance Novel (Owens Protective Services Book 3)
Pop Smoke (Owens Protective Services #4)
Alpha Mike Foxtrot (Owens Protective Services Book 5)
Got Your Six: An OPS Protector Romance Novel

This is book 7 of this series and is about Iris (named for - I Require Intense Supervision) and jane and a lot of other people. Jane is a writer that needs stuff to add to her stories. Between her neighbor, random people, and IRIS she has a lot. But is it going to come back and bite her? After all she wanted some juicy story, and everything is going crazy. In the middle of all the crazy Iris is trying to see what she sees in all these other people and why she is not just writing about him. Can they lose the danger but also get some time together or will he just lose her in the end?

I recommend this book.

Jane is a mystery writer who enjoys living vicariously through her stories while she crushes on her neighbor. Her life is about to take a turn when the dark side of her stories begin to come true and she now finds herself with house guests in the shape of Owens Protective Services and in particular Iris who are not helping when it comes to the romance she wants with her neighbor.

Iris is a man who is quite familiar with explosions but he wasn’t expecting the sparks he would feel for Jane. His determination to keep her safe is challenged by her determined to not miss a minute of the action and that is when the fun really begins.

The banter is humorous, the action doesn’t stop and the camaraderie between the team only makes the story that much better as Iris and Jane work to uncover the truth and find each other along the way.

IRIS & Jane + everyone else

She's an author who needs a twist to the next book in her series. Little does she know there is a heck of a twist already in the works.

When an officer is concerned about a rash of murders in his small town he investigates off-duty. His department doesn't seem to agree with him. He contacts Cash for help. Even though he resists they end up involved. Oh, man!

Let's just say there is never a dull moment. Will there be romance--what do you think? As usual, the guys are snarky, dangerous, and so much more. Will there be bombs? (IRIS is around) You'll never guess what will happen but you won't be able to stop turning those pages.

Another funny, dangerous offer from the author. Don't miss it.

Full Battle Rattle continues the fun that is the Owens Protective Services series. I think this may be my favorite comedy-wise. IRIS and Jane's banter is hilarious, and she didn't seem particularly freaked out by the OPS crazy as some of our previous heroines have been. She fit right in the crazy, and it worked oh so well. The OPS women are stepping up with their brand of crazy hiding out in cupboards, under beds, in closets, and doing some cleaning while they are at it was next level. Fox shows up with his beloved Funyuns and knives, of course. It was all so much fun! I laughed so hard, and it was delightful. No matter my mood, Owens Protective Services gives me a laugh and smile as I read about their antics! You need this series in your life.

We start the story with a woman named Jane. What does she do for a living, or rather, what is she trying to do? Who is the person behind her? Who is Alexander and Shayla Jacque? What does each do for a living? Where are Iris, Thumper, and Slider, why? I loved Iris's thoughts about Fox and New Guy! Oh, I loved the part where they met up with Cash. Why does Jane visit Gloria, and what happens while she is there? Is the third time the charm? What and who is Pete? I was fascinated by him! What crazy thing is happening that OPS gets asked to help? OPS guys with Jane at her house, and their takes on Alexander are so funny to me! Oh, I did not see that ending coming! Nor did I guess who was behind everything going on!

This is the 7th book in this phenomenal series, and this is Iris and Jane’s journey. Jane is a mystery writer, and the team are assigned to protect her, while trying to solve the murder mysteries. Iris is the bomb disposal expert, and believe me, he deserves his name (I Require Intense Supervision), as he is always in trouble for blowing things up. This is an amazing story, which is action packed, and has humor, witty banter, intrigue, tension, danger, suspense, romance, mystery, twists, and love, which leads to an entertaining and addictive page turner.
I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I highly recommend.

Love these characters!

I swear these Men and women are all certifiable and I WANT TO BE THEIR FRIEND!!! Seriously I love them, the mystery had me guessing I thought I had it figured out so many times in the end I was correct just didn't realize it until the end! Speaking of the end it was fast and one particular question wasn't answered😠 just saying deal with police?!?! Anyway mystery, murder, banter like you wouldn't believe, one sexy scene otherwise a lot of sexual tension! Definitely read in order to see all these men and women's stories!

While I did enjoy this book, I can't say that it was my absolute favourite.

IRIS has been an interesting character from the very beginning, when he "accidentally" blew up their headquarters. I've been looking forward to reading his story, but somehow this book felt a bit underwhelming.

Jane is a character that I just don't understand. She is supposed to be a mystery author but when it comes to her lawyer neighbour, she turns into an idiot. I think that Jane's character could've been a better developed, but that is my opinion.

The banter between the guys is always hilarious and I look forward to seeing what hilarious situations they get up to next.

Be prepared to laugh out loud

I love this series more with every new "lady" we get to meet.
This story would make a great film - the comedic situations are so visual.
Plus we get more Fox, rational as ever😂
IRIS is delicious & Jane surprising.
Then we have IKE - swoon. More please.
So does the author like Johnny Depp, or is his namesake character a coincidence ?
Books that make me laugh / smile are a particular favourite of mine. This one comes up trumps
Highly recommended ❤️

What I love is that you never know what you are going to get when read on of this authors books Opinionated, foot in mouth no filter, no holds barred, divine sarcasm, lots of hilarity is what we get with her characters. But lets not forget the action, danger, suspense and situations they get themselves in. I am never disappointed and this one is just brilliant. I love that we get to have the adventure or misadventure, a HEA or not. I have not laughed so much in a long time. Grab a drink or three and settle in for one of the best read of your life.

Another great book. I could not put it down. I love IRIS. This book will as always keep you laughing. With all the others finding their someone, now we get to watch IRIS find his. If they can live through finding the killer. Jane is a writer and someone is using her books to kill people following what her books do. It’s a very interesting book and trying to figure out who it is. Can’t wait for the next one

Ms. Lagomarsino has a way of drawing this reader in and keeping her captive with her words, her characters, her world(s)! I don't care if I ever leave!

Always larger than life, her heroes have me swooning each and every time! Just what a romance is supposed to do!

But what Ms. L adds is excitement, action, wonderful heroines!

I never question whether one of her books will be a great way to spend my time, and she proves me right every. single. time!

So Funny

It is made clear that this is book #7 and the books should be read in order. However, this blurb caught my eye and I wasn't going back to read the other 6. I am a very good reader and Giulia made it easy to understand the characters from previous stories. IRIS (I Require Intense Supervision) and Jane work well together. I will continue the rest of the series and may go back and catch up on the others.

This book, like it's characters, seemed to have a mind of it's own.
It was very cleverly done as every time you seemed to have guessed who was behind it all the idea gets squashed and another suspect gets added to the ever growing list.
By the end with so much input from the characters you'll be just as confused as them and you won't believe what is finally revealed.
I couldn't get enough and as usual definitely recommend.

IRIS and Jane

When a mystery writer’s (Jane) series is being used to kill residents of the town she lives in her editor calls in OPS to protect her. IRIS and Jane have chemistry but she’s obsessed with her snooty lawyer next door neighbor. The OPS girls escape the silo and end up hiding in different places in the house wanting to meet the writer and see how the case turns out of course wit IRIS involved you can expect bombs…a lot of bombs and Jane loves the excitement. Those two are gonna be trouble.

Another fun, action packed read for the OPS series.

IRIS isn’t looking for love but meets his match with Jane. Their story was full of danger and suspense. It had me glued to my kindle, trying figure out who the baddie was. While cracking up laughing at the banter between all the characters.

I can’t get enough of this series. It’s so exciting to read. Can’t wait to read more.

Another fun addition to the series

This is such a fun series. It's best to read them in order. This is IRIS's story. The crew is doing security for a mystery writer whose books are being used by a killer doing reenactments of the deaths in her books. As always, much humor and excitement! Bombs going off, knives being thrown, bullets flying! Read this series!

IRIS and Jane are my new favorite couple! The twists and turns in this book were fantastic. Even though the guys at OPS are not detectives they find themselves trying to solve a mystery. It was fun to see IRIS and Jane's relationship evolve throughout the book. I am curious if Fox will ever get board of Funyuns.... can't wait to read the next book in the series!
