‘Hell Hath No Fury’ by Geoff Major

Synopsis

They changed her life forever. Did they really think they could get away with it?

Evie Perry was a high-class escort whose way of life was abruptly and cruelly shattered by two drunken men. Stella Kendrick’s husband committed suicide and left her with a legal battle and a debt of £6m, but he leaves her a message with the names of three men on it. Daniella Maddox is a world-class barrister, assigned to an indefensible case for a corrupt client, but one she must win to save her own life. Unbeknownst to them, fate has woven their lives into a twisted web.

Detective Sergeant Alan Armitage is mystified when he attends the scene of a triple murder, but he is very quickly joined in his hunt for the killer by Detective Sergeant Steve Denton from The Met, and Detective Sergeant Bob Williams from North Yorkshire CID. Along with Detective Constable Rachael Jones, they have to uncover who the murderer is and why they are killing people across the country. Their task is made even more difficult because a criminal known to most simply as The Broker gets closer to banking millions every time his team commits another murder.

My Review

I had the distinct pleasure of reading and reviewing Geoff’s previous book called ‘Deadline’ a year or two back. Since then I have been (im)patiently waiting for his next book. Well ladies and gents the wait is over because Geoff’s new book is called ‘Hell Hath No Fury’ and it was released on 19th January 2023. It’s another cracker of a read, which I thoroughly enjoyed reading but more about that in a bit.

As with ‘Deadline’, I was drawn to this book by the intriguing synopsis and as before I felt compelled to jump straight into the story. I mean that in the nicest possible way. When I got to the end of the first chapter, I knew that once again I wasn’t going to be able to put this book down for any length of time. I had originally picked the book up only intending to read a chapter or two but I became so wrapped up in the story and in the lives of the different characters that I was still sat there reading several chapters and an hour or so later. It was as if the book had developed a hold over me and it was a hold that I wasn’t willing to break. I had my own theories as to what was going to happen and of course I had to keep reading to see if I was on the right track or if I had wandered off in the opposite direction. The more of the book that I read, the more I wanted to read and the quicker the pages seemed to turn. All too quickly I reached the end of ‘Hell Hath No Fury’. I found ‘Hell Hath No Fury’ to be a gripping, tense and dramatic read, which certainly kept me guessing and kept me on the edge of my seat throughout.

‘Hell Hath No Fury’ is extremely well written. Geoff has an easy going writing style that is easy to get used to and easy to get along with. Geoff certainly knows how to grab the reader’s attention and draw them into what proves to be one hell of a story. For me, the story hit the ground running and maintained a fast pace throughout. I love the way in which Geoff makes the reader feel as though they are part of the story and at the heart of the action. That’s how I felt anyway. Reading ‘Hell Hath No Fury’ felt like being on one heck of a scary and unpredictable rollercoaster ride with more twists and turns to the story than you would find on a ‘Snakes & Ladders’ board.

In short, I thoroughly enjoyed reading ‘Hell Hath No Fury’ and I would definitely recommend this book to other readers. I will certainly be reading more of Geoff’s work in the future. The score on the Ginger Book Geek board is a very well deserved 5* out of 5*.
