Motorcars Toyota Becomes Martin Motors of Cleveland

Tim Wild, Director of the Midwest and Plains Region for the Tim Lamb Group, the largest auto dealership sales and acquisitions firm in North America, has brokered the sale of the Motorcars Toyota Dealership in Cleveland Heights, OH to the Martin Automotive Group.


Wild helped facilitate the deal, which closed on March 8, 2023, between owners Matt and Chuck Gile and the Martin Automotive Group. The dealership, which will become Martin Motors of Cleveland, Inc. dba Toyota Cleveland Heights, is located at 2950 Mayfield Rd. in Cleveland Heights, OH.

Gallery owner shares global language of understanding

David Horton III, owner of The Enku Connection gallery in Cleveland Heights, is sharing a worldwide language with his gems, artwork and other objects from Africa and around the world.

Indigo Girls Coming to Cain Park This June

Indigo Girls will perform at Cain Park’s Evans Amphitheater on Tuesday, June 13, as part of their Summer 2023 Tour.


Indigo Girls are an American folk-rock duo from Atlanta, Georgia, Amy Ray and Emily Saliers. They have produced multiple Gold and Platinum albums since emerging on the music scene in 1987.


Indigo Girls will donate a portion of ticket sales from their Cain Park performance to Honor the Earth, an organization supporting the rights of Native Americans.


Information about ticket sales will be released in the near future.

Reading Inspires Fairfax Students to Help Animals

Literature can do a lot of things, including entertain, educate, and inspire. For Mindy Hamilton’s multi-age class at Fairfax School, the experience of reading books about animals in need has led them to take action.


After immersing themselves in several novels, including The One and Only Ivan, The One and Only Bob, and the children’s classic Shiloh, the class has embarked on an International Baccalaureate Exhibition project that will benefit local animal shelters. And they recently got a big boost in the form of an IB Primary Years Programme Scholarship worth $500 from the Ohio Association of IB World Schools.


They plan to use that money to buy basic items that animal shelters rely on, such as dog and cat food, and laundry detergent, and other cleaning supplies. They then hope that the school and community will help by donating toys and treats so they can put together laundry baskets full of donations for multiple shelters...

Heights High Students Inducted into

National Technical Honor Society

Twelve Cleveland Heights High School students in Heights Career Tech were inducted into the National Technical Honor Society on March 21. The National Technical Honor Society (NTHS) is an educational non-profit that exists to honor, recognize, and empower students and teachers in Career & Technical Education.


Career and Technical Education students qualify for membership to the NTHS when they have an overall GPA of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale, unweighted and other factors that include: credit hours completed; attendance; and one or more faculty and/or staff recommendations; active involvement in student government; and Career Tech Student Organization, civic or service membership(s).


The NTHS mission is: To honor students' achievement and leadership, promote educational excellence, and enhance career opportunities for the NTHS membership.

Cain Park Expands Season and Announces New “Residents’ Week," April 10–16, 2023

Get Ready for Another Exciting Season at Cain Park!


The City of Cleveland Heights has extended Cain Park’s schedule for 2023 to start earlier and end later—from May 19 through September 24. With this expanded season, we have also expanded beyond our traditional Residents’ Day.


This year, for the first time, residents will be able to buy premium reserved tickets during Residents’ Week.


Dates

Residents’ Week will take place Monday, April 10, through Sunday, April 16, 2023.


  • Online ticket sales through Etix.com will begin Monday, April 10, at 10:00 am and will run until Midnight, April 16.


  • Residents may purchase tickets in person at the Cain Park Box Office between Noon–5:00 pm from Tuesday, April 11, through Saturday, April 15.


  • During Residents’ Week, tickets will not be sold at City Hall. To buy tickets in person during Residents’ Week, residents must go to the Cain Park Box Office.


Benefits

Cleveland Heights residents will receive the following benefits by buying tickets during Residents’ Week will include:

 

  • Access to premium seating for all events that have reserved tickets.


  • A discount of 15% on RENT and FUN HOME tickets for the Friday, Saturday & Sunday performances of their Opening Weekend.


  • Having their names entered into a drawing for a $100 gift card at the end of the season that may be used for any 2024 events.


  • Emails throughout the season offering additional discounts and information about upcoming events.


Establishing Proof of Residence

Cleveland Heights residents are encouraged to have proof of residency established in advance of Residents’ Week.


Residents may establish residency by coming to the Cain Park offices at Cleveland Heights City Hall on weekdays from 10 am–4 pm and presenting either: 


  • A current Cleveland Heights recreation pass, or 
  • A current Ohio Driver’s License with a Cleveland Heights address.


Residents may also bring proof of residency to the Cleveland Heights Community Center on

  • Saturday, March 25, from 9 am–Noon, or 
  • Sunday, March 26, from Noon–2 pm.

 

Purchasing Residents’ Tickets

After showing their proof of residency, residents will be issued a passcode that must be used to access residents' tickets online, over the phone, or in person.


Cleveland Heights Resident tickets will appear online as pink seats during Residents’ Week. 


Please note: Additional discounts (senior, student, military) are not available through online sales and are only available when purchasing tickets by phone or in person.

The Cleveland Heights Earth Day Run is scheduled for Wednesday, April 26, 2023. 


The Kid's Dash will start at 6:25 pm with 100-meter and 0.5-mile options for children of different abilities/ages.


The Run will start at 6:45 pm, rain or shine! The Run’s route is completely on the Forest Hill Park Pathway and is wheelchair accessible. More information to come!

Creative Heights Art Show Runs Through April 15

The Creative Heights Art Show is back after a three-year hiatus and is running now through April 15 at the Lee Road branch of the Heights Libraries. The exhibition is presented by the CH-UH Visual Art Department in partnership with the Heights Libraries and Mobius (formerly RoxArts).


The show presents more than 200 works of art done by students in CH-UH K-12 art classes. The pieces were selected by the district’s art teachers and are judged by a jury of community artists. Awards for first place, second place, and honorable mention are given for each school, and one award each for best in show will be given out for elementary, middle, and high school level art.
