Airports Authority of India (AAI) Tiruchirappalli International Airport wins award

The Airports Authority of India (AAI) announced Tiruchirappalli International Airport has been rated the best in Asia Pacific region, as per ASQ Awards 2022 by the Airports Council International (ACI). Tiruchirappalli International Airport has been adjudged the best airport in the category of under 2 million passengers in Asia-Pacific.

Boeing and GMR Aero Technic announce B737NG P2F Conversion line

Boeing announced an agreement with GMR Aero Technic to establish a new Boeing Converted Freighter (BCF) line in Hyderabad. The MRO is the first Boeing supplier in India that will have the capability to support future conversions of both domestic and foreign aircraft. India’s air cargo growth is expected to average 6.3% annually, driven by the country’s manufacturing and e-commerce sectors, including its Make in India initiative. Boeing forecasts demand for more than 75 freighters, including production and converted freighters. Boeing India President Salil Gupte said “Our cooperation with GMR Aero Technic not only a testimony of the maturation of Indian MROs in the country to support the vision of Aatmanirbhar Bharat, but also supports the anticipated growth of the cargo sector in the region,”

IndiGo adds Nashik to network

IndiGo 7th March commenced direct flights from Nashik, the carrier’s  77th domestic and 103rd destination on its growing route network. The airline operated new sectors between Nashik-Goa, Nashik-Ahmedabad, and Nashik-Nagpur. In the state of Maharashtra Nashik is the 7th destination served. IndiGo Head of Global Sales Mr. Vinay Malhotra said “We are delighted to announce the launch of our operations from Nashik, marking our 77th domestic destination. This move connects India's golden triangle to a plethora of domestic and international locations through our 6E network. By enhancing accessibility to Nashik, famous for its rich history, we aim to promote commerce and tourism and boost economic growth in the region.”

UDAN Scheme connects 74 airports with over 469 routes

The Ministry of Civil Aviation announced as of 28th February the Regional Connectivity Scheme (RCS) - UDAN (Ude Desh ka Aam Nagrik) in 2016 to stimulate regional air connectivity and making air travel affordable to the masses. UDAN is a self-financing scheme has connected 74 airports with 469 routes including nine heliports and two water aerodromes.
