I had no natural thought what a Moscow Donkey was in those days. Truth be told, I had no clue what most mixed drinks comprised of, back then. I wasn't even mature enough to get into the bar yet, however I attempted a couple of times.

The run of the mill Moscow Donkey is a very straightforward mixed drink highlighting vodka, ginger brew, and lime juice. It doesn't really require any refreshing, however I believed that the sweet and hot ginger lager would combine delectably with the pungency of new blackberries and the peppery, minty kinds of basil. Also, not to applaud myself or anything, however I was correct.

These mixed drinks are ultra-delightful without depending on cloying sweetness to make them pleasant. There's nothing frou-frou about them, regardless of the expansion of crisp berries–the ginger brew holds that fruitiness within proper limits. INGREDIENTS
  • 1 cup blackberries, plus more to garnish
  • 10 fresh basil leaves, plus more to garnish
  • 8 ounces (1 cup) vodka
  • Juice of 2 limes, plus sliced lime, to garnish
  • Lightly crushed ice
  • Ginger beer, to top

INSTRUCTIONS
  1. In a cocktail shaker, muddle the blackberries and basil in the vodka, making sure to get the blackberries to fully release their juices. Add the lime juice to the shaker and fill three quarters of the way with ice. Shake until chilled, about 15 seconds. Fill copper mugs with lightly crushed ice. Double strain the mixture into the mugs through a fine mesh strainer to ensure that no seeds wind up in the drinks. Top with ginger beer and garnish with additional blackberries, basil, and lime slices.
