Alumni Relations

The Office of Development & Alumni Relations connects SIU School of Medicine graduates with similar interests and offers opportunities for social activities and networking, as well as raising funds for current students.

Welcome

Since 1975, SIU School of Medicine has educated and trained more than 3,200 MD alumni, and nearly 4,000 resident and fellow alumni. Every graduate becomes a member of the School of Medicine Alumni Society. There are no dues.

The Office of Development & Alumni Relations and the Alumni Society seek to provide meaningful ways to connect and engage its alumni and current students with their alma mater and with each other. Through events and outreach, we help to foster lasting relationships and advance the school’s mission.

Dr. Jared Rogers was welcomed at Chestnut Family Health Center in Bloomington, Il., as medical director in February.

James “JD” Daniels, MD ’83

James "JD" Daniels has had a private rural family practice for seven years, he then went back to school, and joined SIU full time almost 30 years ago.

Thomas Butler III, MD ’06

Dr. Thomas Butler III, was appointed surgical director of kidney transplant surgery at Penn State Health’s Milton S. Hershey Medical Center.

Simon leads efforts for better behavioral health in Boston

SIU School of Medicine alumnus Dr. Kevin Simon (’15) was named Boston's first chief behavioral health officer in June 2022. Mayor Michelle Wu appointed Simon to the newly created post and tasked him with developing and implementing a comprehensive behavioral health agenda for the city's most vulnerable.

SIU medical students, residency programs matches made for Class of '24

On March 15, SIU Medicine's graduating Class of 2024, along with fourth-year students at other medical schools across the U.S., received results from the National Resident Matching Program to learn their destinations for postgraduate training.
