Welp … it’s been almost a week since many of us have found our lives turned upside down. While schools, restaurants, bars and museums remain closed here in Northern Michigan, your friends at the Art Park know it can sometimes be tough to be stuck at home (even though it’s the right thing to do). In the spirit of helping you cope, here’s your Quarantine Survival Pack Arts Edition.

We’re all in this together, so please stay safe, wash your hands often, and help our local businesses by ordering take-out, delivery or gift certificates when and where you can.

Is it safe to hike outside? Is it recommended?

Yes, say Public Health officials. In fact, “take a walk” and “go for a hike” are at the top of the “safe-to-do” list as the region’s fight against the coronavirus continues. Experts say there is no need for social distancing in a family unit.

Happily, the Art Park remains open to serve our community as a safe place for much-needed distraction and inspiration outdoors. We welcome you to get out and come experience our 50 sculptures across 30 acres and 1.6 miles of trails.

On October 1, 2013, the elusive British street artist known as Banksy launched a self-proclaimed month-long residency in New York City, posting one unique exhibit a day in an unannounced location, sparking a 31-day scavenger hunt both online and on the streets for his work.

Capturing this month of madness, "
Banksy Does New York" incorporates user-generated content, from YouTube videos to Instagram photos, from New Yorkers and Banksy hunters alike, whose responses became part of the work itself, for an exhilarating, detailed account of the uproar created by the mysterious artist.

When a celebrated sculpture briefly went missing from a Rodin exhibition in Santiago Chile, the "theft" turned out to be a provocative statement, masterminded by a precocious art student. His actions sparked a public outcry and a furious debate on the nature of art itself. This lively and perceptive documentary revisits the scene of an extraordinary incident that captured the world's attention.

With pending cancelled fundraising events and an uncertain timeline, the Art Park is facing significant revenue losses every day that passes. Over 25 years, we've depended on the kindness and support of our generous local businesses and donors, all of whom are also struggling now in this unprecedented crisis.

Is it possible for you to consider helping the Art Park during this challenging time with a gift? Like all small nonprofits, we are trying to navigate this emergency and emerge healthy enough to continue our vital community projects in Arts Education, Field Trips and public programs.

Your tax deductible donation of any amount will truly make an impact right now. We're deeply grateful.
