Classroom Training Assistants Needed for Dog Training Classes

Position Description: 

As a Classroom Training Assistant (CTA), you will have the opportunity to develop an amazing skill set, while providing invaluable support and assistance to the class instructor in public dog training classes. Time requirement is typically is 1.5- 2 hours per week with a 4 – 6 week commitment*. Classes are held daily both during the day, evenings, and on weekends. Prior experience is not necessary.    

The primary goal in our dog training classes is to enrich the relationship people have with their dogs.  We help people teach their dogs to be good “canine citizens” and wonderful companions. Our classes are designed to teach good manners to the dog and good handling skills to the owners.   

*Each session is either 4 or 6 weeks. We expect CTAs to complete at least one session, but we love when our CTAs stay on and continue with more sessions, as it's great for the instructor to be familiar with their CTA and for the CTA to have a solid grasp on what needs to be done, and it can take time to learn this. 

Responsibilities:  

  • Set up and break down classroom per instructor’s direction   

  • Maintain attendance and required vaccination records  

  • Assist instructor in conducting exercises and as needed  

  • Take notes per instructor’s direction either as email or hand written  

  • Maintain safe environment for students and pets  

Requirements:  

  • You are great with people and dogs!

  • Able and willing to follow the instructor’s direction in prompt and safe manner  

  • Communicate in a professional and courteous manner  

  • You must be physically able to manage active, adult dogs

It can also provide you with great tips for working with your own dog. You will receive in depth hands-on learning experience about dog training using a positive reinforcement method. Learn teaching techniques, training exercises, and training protocol.  

Current Days/ Times Needed:

  • Thursday evenings
  • Saturday mornings
