Job description

AMI is looking to hire a Customer Growth Specialist who will drive sales efforts across Africa to recruit and enroll businesses into AMI’s entrepreneur learning programmes. This is a chance for an outstanding marketing professional with a passion to support small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to grow , scale and be part of Africa’s transformation.

The Customer Growth Specialist must have a strong entrepreneurial spirit; be passionate about skills and enterprise development as a way to transform Africa; have great relationship building and management skills, and understanding of sourcing for entrepreneur support programmes in Africa.

The successful candidate will report to the Marketing Manager- Community & Customer Growth as part of the Marketing & Communications Team. They will be part of a dynamic international team and will be based in Nairobi. This is a great opportunity for a sales and marketing star with a passion for learning and development.

The Customer Growth Specialist will be responsible for recruiting and enrolling businesses into AMI’s flagship business development programmes specifically the Survive to Thrive and Grow your Business programmes.  

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Drive sales and recruitment for AMI’s business development programmes - implement and contribute to strategy for recruiting, building relationships and enrolling leaders and entrepreneurs in AMI programmes
  • Explain products and programmes to business leaders and potential participants through various communications channel – video, phone, SMS, and social media
  • Utilize and manage customer contacts through a customer relationship management (CRM) system
  • Analyse sales/marketing data to develop strategic communication and marketing initiatives to support programme recruitment
  • Expand relationships with SMEs by engaging with potential customers in the AMI Thrive business community and across Africa 
  • Liaise with marketing production team members to deliver events, marketing materials and digital campaigns relevant to the programme 
  • Coordinate across various departments to ensure incoming and enrolled participants learning needs are adequately served and relevant data is properly captured
  • Work across the company with various teams to continually improve the recruitment and enrolment process

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and speaks with confidence and conviction. The individual is able to convince people to consider options beyond that of which they have already considered or discovered themselves.
  • Strong entrepreneurial spirit and business sense to drive growth and close deals 
  • Outgoing personality with great relationship building and management skills 
  • Proven ability to generate new leads and relationships and systematically convert those leads into sales
  • Highly level of proficiency with computer programmes (MS Office etc.) and online tools (social media, CRMs, email systems)
  • Passionate about business learning and capacity building for SMEs and African leaders
  • A commitment to AMI’s values of excellence, innovation and accountability

  • Demonstrated network and/or local community connections preferred
  • Self-starter with a proactive approach, strong time management and prioritization skills

  • Ability to work independently as well as on a team.

 Education and Experience

  • Undergraduate degree from an accredited university or equivalent experience
  • 2-5 years programme sales and business development experience, experience related to business learning programmes a plus
  • Exceptional project management skills to monitor leads in the business development process, from lead generation through to closure
  • Experience using Salesforce or other CRM systems desired
