Congratulations to the winners of BBC Introducing Scottish Act of The Year 2024, Bottle Rockets!
After a stunning live performance, Bottle Rockets claimed the prestigious title of Scottish Act of The Year 2024.
“We’d just like to say thank you so much to everyone who voted for us to even get here. We were honoured just to be part of the process in general let alone to be selected out of more than 500 artists, it’s insane. Thanks to the judges tonight for choosing us and thanks to everyone who’s listening to our music, it’s absolutely surreal. We are all in shock at the moment but it’s very fulfilling to get this recognition.”
You can tune in to the final on BBC Radio Scotland on Friday, March 29 from 8pm – 10pm. It will also be available to watch on BBC iPlayer from Saturday, March 30, and on the BBC Scotland channel on Saturday, March 30 at 10pm.

Meet The Finalists
Congratulations to the finalists of BBC Introducing Scottish Act of The Year 2024. Bee Asha, Bottle Rockets, Majesty Palm and Quiet Houses came out top of the public vote. They performed in front of an audience and our expert panel of judges at the final on Wednesday 27 March at Platform in Glasgow.
Bottle Rockets
Bottle Rockets formed in Glasgow in 2021 with Kenzi Murray on vocals, guitarist John Tamburrini, bassist Andrew Cummings alongside Sam Rae on the drums. With their post-punk & new wave influences Bottle Rockets have carved out their own sound weaving dreamy shoegaze tones and heavy instrument.
Ending 2023 on a high, not only playing the legendary Barrowland Ballroom as part of the Tenement Trail festival but also winning 'Best Rock/Alternative' at the Scottish Alternative Music Award this dynamic quartet have hit the ground running with their radio-ready choruses and heartfelt lyrics.
“It’s a mental experience. I was at the live show a couple years ago and to be on the other side of that now is surreal. I’m so excited to tell the guys and the rest of my family.”
Bee Asha
Bee Asha Singh is a spoken word artist born and living in Edinburgh blending rap and poetry in her unique sound. Her work is a cathartic outlet that she uses to explore themes of sexuality, trauma and gender equality, characterised by an openness to talk about her lived experiences.
Her music is rooted in her other band East Coast female rap trio, The Honey Farm. In 2023 Asha released her first album ‘From Girl to Men’ and won the Best Newcomer Award at the Scottish Alternative Music Awards in 2021 and was number 43 in The ListUK Hot 100.
“I was so nervous for this. My next album is really coming together with this new sound and getting to platform that to the whole of the UK before I release it is just really exciting.”
Majesty Palm
Mixing big synths, bass hooks and wavy guitars with catchy vocals, Glasgow-based Majesty Palm are a new outfit made up of the combined forces of Olivia McCosh’s dreamy vocals and Cameron Robertson’s guitars. The pair presents a blend of pop, new wave and funk.
Within their short spell as a band, they have already gained support from the likes of BBC Introducing, performed at the legendary King Tuts as well as recently winning “Best Newcomer” at the 2023 Scottish Alternative Music Awards. The duo’s honest approach to writing pop tunes starts in their home studio where they self-produce their material and experiment with dipping into a medley of genres and styles.
“To be put forth initially by the judges was amazing in itself, so to get so all the votes from our friends and fans is great. It’s crazy to think we’re in this position because of them.”
Quiet Houses
Quiet Houses are an indie-pop duo made up of Edinburgh born multi-instrumentalists Jamie Stewart and Hannah Elliot. After forming in early 2018, the pair started writing songs rooted in the quirky indie sound-world of alvvays, Babygirl, Hatchie.
In December 2021 the duo released their debut EP ‘Big Town’ with track ‘Cold Water Swimming’ being featured in Spotify’s ‘The Most Beautiful Songs In The World’ playlist. and 'Ocean Avenue'. Last year’s EP ‘Since July’ garnered them plenty of attention they since went on to tour with Tide Lines as well as playing at Connect festival.
“I’m so excited to be playing next Wednesday. This is such a privilege, so many other great acts were nominated. We’ve been sending the link to all our friends and family so I’m glad it paid off."
