Important Discussions to Prevent Contagious Diseases

The Governor of Mendoza state in Argentina, Alfredo Cornejo received a visit from the ambassador of the Swiss Confederation in Argentina, Hanspeter Mock. Ministers Dalmiro Garay (Government) and Lisandro Nieri (Treasury) were accompanied by the president, who had previously met with the diplomat to discuss future bilateral agreements.

The ambassador focussed on the work of the Province as host to the organisation of the Mercosur Summit during July, and stated that “the aim of the proposed projects was to ensure that Mendoza was recognized in Switzerland not only for its wines, also for its other activities “.

With the Governor, they discussed the possibility of carrying out a disused tyre recycling project to avoid contamination and spread of diseases related to mosquitoes, such as Dengue or Zika.

The Minister of Finance Mendoza explained that “we discussed the possibility of expanding the bilateral trade base between both countries, and particularly with the province of Mendoza, which is the second in the country with which they agree on future projects.”

Meanwhile, Garay said that developing the relationship with Switzerland is important for the Province since “Argentina is the most Swiss place in South America, there are more than 16 thousand (Swiss) in the country, and in Mendoza is an important location for Swiss residents.
