International Fertilizer Association (IFA)’s Post

🌍 This week, our #InspireInclusion campaign takes us to Nigeria. In 2021, the International Fertilizer Development Center (IFDC) launched the HortiNigeria Program, funded by the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands (EKN), in Nigeria. The HortiNigeria Program aims to enhance smallholder farmers’ social capital and contribute to their empowerment within the market. Focusing primarily on women and youth, the program has reached almost 30,000 farmers, of whom 73% are youth and 44% are women. By 2025, year when the program is due to close, HortiNigeria expects: 👥 At least 2,000 entrepreneurial farmers to have adopted new knowledge and/or technologies 🌱 Acreage under sustainable land use to have increased by 15,000 hectares 👩🌾 Saudatu Yakubu is a 29-year-old female smallholder farmer who has directly benefitted from the program.
