Kyle Busch made it five series victories in a row Friday night when he won the WinStar World Casino 350 Camping World Truck Series race at Texas Motor Speedway. He also made the series point-leader rather angry.

Busch got the victory by holding off Matt Crafton on the final green-flag run. Crafton finished a little less than a second behind Busch.

The victory was the seventh of the season for Busch in the series and 16th of his truck career. He led twice for 54 laps.

“That was cool,” Busch said. “What a Tundra tonight.

“Five in a row. That’s pretty sweet.”

Busch will be competing in all three of NASCAR’s top series at Texas this weekend. So, with the Friday victory, he will have a shot at a three-race sweep.

“It would be pretty awesome to get all three done,” he said.

Crafton’s runner-up finish allowed him to gain ground on point-leader Ron Hornaday Jr., who finished third but about 10 seconds behind Busch.

Crafton enter the race 202 points behind Hornaday, who won five straight races earlier in the season, and finished the race 197 back.

After Friday’s race, he sounded philosophical about his chances of catching Hornaday.

“The championship is one thing,” Craftson said. “Definitely it would be great to win the championship. I know we have a lot of points deficit to make up there. All we are looking for right now is wins. That is all we want to do it go out there and would have loved to have won the last three.”

Crafton said he might have had a truck good enough to catch Busch, but could not make an all-out run at the lead as he was in a fuel conservation mode on the last run.

“I didn’t think I was going to make it,” Crafton said.

Especially against Busch, who seems to win every time he cranks up a truck.

“I mean something. That is exactly what I told him, I was going to have to lock him up in his motorhome, that is all there is to it. Just take him out of the equation,” Crafton said.

Hornaday sounded like he would like to have Busch locked up as well.

“It was loose,” Hornaday said. “Kyle (Busch) was no help, lifting me up down the backstretch and got me sideways going in to three. That is the way we race. We’ll take a top-three and come out of here.

“Kyle lifted me up pretty good down the back straightaway. The bumper is bent in pretty good. It is hard to race somebody that doesn’t make a living at it and doesn’t care about points. It is tough. That made my tires mad in three and four.

“It was locked on me. It happened twice. Down the back straightaway. I wish you guys would take a picture of the rear bumper cover because it was…not once, twice but three times, I was sideways down the back straightaway. I felt like it was Talladega all over again. Got down in there and he just sucked me around so.”

Todd Bodine finished fourth.
