GUIDE DOGS is holding a volunteer roadshow in The South Holderness Resource Centre (Shores), Seaside Road, Withernsea on Thursday 21st January 2010 between 2pm and 4pm.

There will be various speakers from The Guide Dogs for the Blind Association and members of the fundraising team who will happily answer any questions about Guide Dogs or volunteering.  In addition, local guide dog owners already benefiting from the charity’s work will be there to talk about their own involvement with the charity and the difference that having a guide dog has made to their lives.

Guide Dogs is almost entirely funded by voluntary donations, and needs support from volunteers to maximise its services for blind and partially-sighted people.

There are so many ways to volunteer.  In particular we are looking for a branch secretary, treasurer and fundraisers to form part of the new Withernsea branch.  Volunteering is fun and rewarding – you know you are helping to make a real difference to the lives of blind and partially-sighted people.” Rebekah Shepherd, Guide Dogs.

Anyone interested in volunteering or fundraising for Guide Dogs is invited to attend the local roadshow or contact Guide Dogs’ Volunteering Team on 0845 371 7771 or by emailing volunteer@guidedogs.org.uk

Information on volunteer roles can also be found on the Guide Dogs UK website.
