CA-Sen: Barbara Boxer and the Obama Stimulus Signs

Now, there is a flap about this example of Big Government waste and guess who lead the charge for the Obama economic stimulus signs?

As the midterm election season approaches, new road signs are popping up everywhere – millions of dollars worth of signs touting “The American Reinvestment and Recovery Act” and reminding passers-by that the program is “Putting America Back to Work.”

On the road leading to Dulles Airport outside Washington, DC there’s a 10′ x 11′ road sign touting a runway improvement project funded by the federal stimulus. The project cost nearly $15 million and has created 17 jobs, according to recovery.gov.

However, there’s another number that caught the eye of ABC News: $10,000. That’s how much money the Washington Airports Authority tells ABC News it spent to make and install the sign – a single sign – announcing that the project is “Funded by The American Reinvestment and Recovery Act” and is “Putting America Back to Work.” The money for the sign was taken out of the budget for the runway improvement project.

ABC News has reached out to a number of states about spending on stimulus signs and learned the state of Illinois has spent $650,000 on about 950 signs and Pennsylvania has spent $157,000 on 70 signs. Other states, like Virginia, Vermont, and Arizona do not sanction any signs.

Yep, you are right.

Far Left California U.S. Senator Barbara Boxer.

Boxer Was The Lead Defender Of Millions In Funding For Road Signs Paid For By Stimulus Dollars To Announce Where Stimulus Funds Are Being Spent. They’re spending hundreds of billions of dollars to stimulate the economy, so Senate Democrats said Wednesday they might as well spend millions putting up signs to highlight where the money is being spent. The road signs, which let motorists know the paving and construction projects they see are being paid for by the $787 billion economic stimulus program, have popped up across the country. In a 52-45 vote, the Senate decided the signs should stay. Why on earth would you want to hide from the American people the fact that the recovery package we passed is putting people to work? asked Sen. Barbara Boxer, California Democrat, who took the lead in defending the expenditure.

And, the signs are visible here in Southern California – on the U.S 101 and U.S 405. But, what do you expect from the Big Government philosophy of the Far Left like Obama and Boxer?

Remember when President Bill Clinton said the Era of Big Government was over?

Guess Senator Boxer will be reminded of this come November. I can see the television ads from Carly Fiorina already.
