Join us to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Samuel Beckett winning the Nobel Prize for Literature by immersing yourself in beautiful original compositions inspired by Beckett’s writing.

what is the word is a musical meditation on three pieces of writing by Samuel Beckett, Neither, Worstward Ho (excerpt) and What is the word, composed by Benjamin Dwyer for amplified guitar, double bass, violin and narrator.

As a prelude to what is the word there will be three short performances, six residua composed by Benjamin Dwyer and performed by violinist Maya Homburger; Hommage a Eberhard Feltz (after Beckett’s Roundelay) composed by Gyorgy Kurtag and performed by Barry Guy and Maya Homburger, and Fizzles composed and performed by Barry Guy.

Immerse yourself in these beautiful original compositions inspired by Beckett’s writing in celebration of the 50th anniversary of his winning the Nobel Prize for Literature.
