Blown Away

Rate this book
Overseas, TJ Barton narrowly survived an American Embassy bombing, only to lose two good men: her influential boss and her lover, Sean McNeal.

Back in Washington, TJ set out to find out who did it. Undaunted, she maneuvered through corridors of power, exposing the secrets hidden behind every door on Capitol Hill...only to smack right into the broad, "familiar" chest of Sean McNeal - in the flesh. And she could have, would have decked him if she had the opportunity to get a good shot!

Inexplicably Sean had survived and was now undercover. He needed TJ's silence, her help and her kisses more than he wanted to admit. The last thing he wanted to do was draw TJ into a web of high-stakes corruption. But there was no shaking her off and there was no way she was going to let him get killed - again.

Award-winning author Elle James grew up as an air force military brat. She received her work ethic from her rock-solid father, her creative streak from her artistic mother and inspiration from her writing partner and sister, Delilah Devlin. As a former member of the army reserves and a current member of the air force reserves, she's traveled across the United States and to Germany, managed a full-time job, and raised three wonderful children. She and her husband have even tried their hands at ranching exotic birds (ostriches, emus and rheas) in the Texas hill country. Ask her, and she'll tell you what it's like to go toe-to-toe with an angry three-hundred-and-fifty-pound bird and live to tell about it!

Her adventures in the army and air force reserves, and the wild antics of her life on a small ranch in Texas give her fodder for mystery, suspense and humor in her writing. Elle writes gothic, paranormal mystery for the Harlequin Intrigue line and paranormal romantic comedy for Dorchester Publishing. A former manager of computer programming and project management professionals, Elle is happy she now has the opportunity to pursue her writing full time.

Unbelievable characters, ridiculous situations - couldn't finish this fast enough. It had potential, but failed miserably.

Somehow I was happily surprised with this book. When I started reading it i thought that it being an Harlequin book I would enjoy reading it but actually not like it. However, the plot of the story was not only a pretext for a love story (for once!) it was actually well developed. It's not the mystery of the year but it was well elaborated. The characters were okay, for once I liked the leading female character, TJ, she is not what I usually find in other Harlequin I read. I also greatly enjoyed Tazer.
