Ep. 6 - Definitely My Tempo (Guest - Hassanen Attabi)

Whiplash is one of the best contemporary films about higher education, passion and music. But is it about music or something more?
I was stoked to have an actual drummer on the show to talk about the nuances in Whiplash - to include drumming!
Hassanen Attabi is an author and musician. His book "Listen to Me" is available on Amazon and Target.

    Ep. 5 - Did someone order a B-movie? (Guest - Jackson Delgado)

    Ep. 5 - Did someone order a B-movie? (Guest - Jackson Delgado)

Hey everyone! This episode I talk with Jackson Delgado about a film so terrible that it makes me appreciate the finer things in life. Return of the Killer Tomatoes (1988) is the first sequel to the cult-classic Attack of the Killer Tomatoes (1978).
Yes, this film is quite awful. But it's not without its charm. I found it funnier than expected and it has a fun performance by a very young and charismatic George Clooney.
I truly appreciate my guest for recommending such a wayward choice for an episode. Jackson Delgado is an aspiring filmmaker and screenwriter from the San Diego area.
He carries a lot of film knowledge and it was a treat to trade critiques with him on the value of cult movies.

Ep. 4 - We are Venom! (Guest - Marissa)

Ep. 4 - We are Venom! (Guest - Marissa)

My daughter Marissa is back on the show! This is actually a previously recorded episode from early 2021, so some of the material is dated. But, she and I had a fun quick chat about Venom! We also touched on the future of Spider-man movies and the MCU as a whole. This kid is so fun to talk with and I hope y'all enjoy!

Ep. 3 - Ted Lasso should be seen by everyone! (Guest - Nicole Rubin, MS, LPC)

Ep. 3 - Ted Lasso should be seen by everyone! (Guest - Nicole Rubin, MS, LPC)

Are you ready to BELIEVE?! This week I talk about Ted Lasso, the incredible soccer drama on Apple TV, with the wonderful human and therapist Nicole Rubin. From cultural differences to mental health significance, Ted Lasso is undoubtedly one of the most important shows right now. There’s so much to unpack in only 2 short seasons, but we did our best!
You may not learn a lot about soccer from this episode (because we sure don’t know much about it either), but Nicole’s insight into the mental state of the characters is so dang interesting! And that is something everyone can appreciate!
Nicole Rubin, MS, LPC is a licensed therapist in the state of Georgia.
Her private practice is listed here:

Ep. 2 - I'm going to SXSW! (Guest - Melissa Hannon)

I’m back! It’s been a wild year and I want to thank everyone for their support.
I’ll get right to it, I got accepted to go & cover SXSW (South by Southwest) in Austin, TX next March.
My chat today is with Melissa Hannon, editor-in-chief for Horror Geek Life and 7-time SXSW-alum.
She’s a Texas girl, so we talk Texas! We chat about Texas culture, Texas food, and of course SXSW. We also cover the incredibly bad horror movie from the early 1980s called The Final Terror.
Guys this was a great chat and I hope you enjoy it and I have more Blood Sweat and Popcorn coming soon!

John is such a funny and interesting guy. He really knows what he’s talking about and I absolutely love listening to him. Great reviews, good research and just fun all around.

Funny, honest movie talk

Sometimes hilarious, always genuine movie talk from people who truly love films. John is doing something here that is clearly his calling and frankly, you’re losing out if you haven’t already listened. Start with your favorite movie from what has been reviewed and go download more from there. You won’t be disappointed. Easiest 5 stars ever given.
