She appreciates all the readers who leave kind comments/reviews on where they purchased the book because without them, all her stories would remain locked up in her computer.

Black Hearts Red is the first book in the Next Generation: Love Unexpected series. And you guys have no idea how excited I am that this author is continuing this series into the next generation! This book is Alissa and Matteo’s story. Alissa is Zander & Sedona’s daughter from Love Unexpected (the first book from this author and the one that made me fall in love with her words!). Matteo is Milo & Ava’s son from Fight or Fall. These two grew up together, along with all the other kids, but there’s always been a stronger bond between them. But life took them in some very different directions. When Alissa needs Matteo to make her dreams a reality, will he help her or walk away for good?
If you’ve followed my reviews any, you know there is a short list of authors I’ll read anything they write. Anne Leigh is most definitely one of them. Her characters are always strong people who challenge the norms and succeed despite obstacles life brings them. And she writes stories that are truly outside the box of your normal romance books. She likes to challenge the reader to ask, “What if?” What if a football player fell in love with a nurse? Or a rocket scientist fell for a football player? And what would happen if two people grew up together but had such different paths as young adults? Could they make it work? How would they make it work? And Black Hearts Red doesn’t fall short of that. (And there are plenty of sexy times, too!)
While it’s still not my favorite in the series (sorry, Anne...you know K is my man!), it was definitely an enjoyable read. The Love Unexpected series is definitely a favorite of mine, and I happily devoured this first book about their kids. And loved seeing where my favorite couples have ended up. If the status quo in romance books has you looking for something out of the ordinary, I challenge you to take on Anne Leigh’s books. I love that she loves to be different...and loves for her books to be different. And given the chance, I think you will too.

Anne Leigh has a way of story telling that is so unique and beautiful that you are just captivated by the book and the characters that you just forget everything around you, and Black Hearts Red is just an other example of this.
If you’ve read her previous books and fell in love with all of the characters, you will love this one. We get to see the children grown up and figuring out life now. In Black Hearts Red we get to meet Matteo and Alissa. These two were childhood friends, and then Matteo put a wall up between them. Now adults Alissa needs help and the only one who can truly give her the experience she needs is Matteo’s help. It wasn’t easy at first, but watching the two of them learn to be in each-other’s presence again was fun and interesting, yet tense at the same time.
Matteo and Alissa have a lot to get through, pasts to work through, and watching both of them heel individually as well as together was beautiful. When it truly hit Matteo that he couldn’t not have Alissa in his life, I felt his passion for her, and at that moment, I only wanted the best for the both of them. I loved how the two of them made each other better, and really pushed one another to do more and be better people. They supported each others dreams, and loved each other deeply.
This book has so much going on, and I loved every single second of it. The way this story was told was absolutely beautiful. The new characters introduced, I can’t wait till we get their stories, and seeing some of my favorites from previous books? It made my heart so happy! Once I jumped into this book, it was a struggle to put it down. If you’re a lover of friends to lovers, then this book is definitely one you need to pick up. Black Hearts Red by Anne Leigh is a definite must read for 2019!

It's so nice to visit the gang again but this is Alissa and Matteo Story. Their families were best friend a very close knit group so of course their kids would be close too. Alissa has always love Matteo even as kids but when a tragedy happens in Matteo family he blames Alissa. Years later when she wants to shadow him to learn experience on how to run a business that is when he sees her differently. He starts to open up and that leads to hope and love. They have ups and downs before they can find the Happiness they both want, but it's all worth it in the end.

I loved the love unexpected series and I can safely say that ms anne leigh did not disappoint with the next generation series. I'm rooting for a sofia and kassius love story, counting down the days for the next book on the series.
