Alfie May’s third goal in four starts rescued a 1-1 draw for Cheltenham Town at 10-man Bradford City.
The January signing from Doncaster Rovers struck from close range in the 84th minute to earn the Robins a deserved point at the Utilita Energy Stadium.
Bradford took an early lead through Clayton Donaldson, who converted from the penalty spot in the 11th minute after a foul by Jake Doyle-Hayes on Shay McCartan.
Cheltenham were close to an equaliser twice in the first period, with May’s half-volley clipping the post and Sean Long firing wide from a good position after Conor Thomas’ pass.
Bantams midfielder Jamie Devitt was dismissed in the final minute of the first half for a second yellow card after a foul on Charlie Raglan.
Veteran striker Luke Varney made his comeback after two-and-a-half months on the sidelines following knee surgery early in the second half and he nearly made an instant impact, seeing an effort blocked from close range after being teed up by May.
Cheltenham applied considerable pressure, making their extra man count and after levelling they pressed for a late winner, but Bradford held out through six minutes of time added on.
