The ABA’s 2018 theme for Law Day is “Separation of Powers: Framework for Freedom.” With that theme in mind, this CLE will be presented by four distinguished members of our community that each have first hand experience actively participating in our three-branch governmental framework.

The CLE will provide a historical overview of the three branches and the separation of powers between them, analyze the constitutional language that empowers each branch, examine how the interplay between branches has changed throughout history, and draw upon the presenters’ personal experiences with the powers and limits of each branch. Judges McMaster and Baldi will expand on the powers and limits of the judicial branch, Mike Fitzpatrick will expand on the powers and limits of the legislative branch and his personal experiences in the House, and Mark S. Schweiker will do the same with the executive branch.

Course Presenter(s):

Judge James M. McMaster, BCCCP

Judge Robert O. Baldi, BCCCP

Michael G. Fitzpatrick, U.S. House of Representatives, Retired

Mark S. Schweiker, 44th Governor of Pennsylvania
