NMSU Science Hall
The Computer Science Department at NMSU,
supported by the GK-12 DISSECT and iCREDITS programs,
is offering a week-long workshop for middle and high school teachers, to
support educational needs in YOUR classrooms.
The focus of the workshop will be two-fold:
1) Establish a learning foundation for further JAVA programming and development; and
2) Review the new AP CS Principles course, set to launch in Fall 2016.
This week-long PD session will prepare teachers to participate in and
complete, "C S 187/452, Java Programming," during summer session 2,
July 2 - August 6, 2015, via the NMSU online system.
Elementary and middle school teachers who are interested in learning valuable JAVA skills
are welcome to apply. However, due to class size, current CS teachers at the middle and high
school levels will receive priority registration.
Programming is a creative process that involves individual and collaborative effort to
bring ideas to life through designing, developing, testing, and debugging computational artifacts.
Participants in the program will receive a stipend and teaching materials to take back into the classroom.
