Bitcoin Foundation Co-founder Charlie Shrem joins Viewly’s Advisory Team
Viewly is proud to welcome distinguished bitcoin veteran Charlie Shrem to its advisory team. Charlie formerly founded BitInstant, one of the earliest and most high profile bitcoin companies, facilitating bitcoin purchasing in retail locations such as Walmart, Walgreens, and Duane Reade. BitInstant also counted Roger Ver and the Winklevoss Twins as early investors. He was one of the earliest adopters in the Bitcoin space (claiming to be among the first ten) and is a legend among the crypto community-at-large. Charlie currently serves as Jaxx’s Chief Operating Officer. Prior to this role Charlie served in a similar capacity at Decentral Toronto and Business Development at Payza.
Charlie founded the Bitcoin Foundation, a non-profit to standardize and advocate for Bitcoin in 2012 and served as its vice-Chairman in 2014. Shrem was also featured in The Rise and Rise of Bitcoin, a documentary directed by Nicholas Mross that explores the origins and development of bitcoin. It premiered at the 2014 Tribeca Film Festival.
