Play was close throughout all five flights during Upstate’s latest tour stop. We also saw a birdie in the B Flight!

One of the biggest shots in the Championship Flight occurred on the first hole of the back nine. Tied at 40, Steven Clippard and Tyson Sarkela took the the 10th. In two shots, Clippard found himself on the green. The Upstate tour native sunk it and found himself two strokes ahead as Sarkela made a bogey. Clippard’s putt seemed to be the difference maker as a number of pars followed — he earned the 77-78 win.

Al Hyjek held a two-stroke lead after nine holes and extended it to five for the top spot in the A Flight (75). Ray Cruz tallied an 80, good for second, while Ron Gburek edged out Jon Wood and Danny Garrison for third (84). Please send Ray Cruz your best wishes as he moves to Phoenix--we will certainly miss him on our tour!

Bill Russell used an eagle on the 18th hole to take first place in the B Flight. William Buie, Dannie Newell and Charles Mathis finished in a three-way tie for second (87). 

Deno Contos made two birdies and six pars en route to the top spot in the C Flight with an 83. Perry Ezelltook second (85) while Tim Newman rounded out the top-3 with an 86.

In the D Flight, Jeremy Wilson earned the win with an 83. He held a lead after the front nine and made putts down the stretch. Merle Sauvola placed second (88) while Les Schofield finished third (91).
