Jordan Cranston says he leaves Cheltenham Town with no hard feelings after two-and-a-half years at the club.

The left-back helped the Robins win the National League title in 2015/16, joining from Gateshead halfway through the season.

He struggled at times after making the step up to League Two the following year, but he started the 2017/18 campaign in superb form before being struck down by a torn hamstring in November.

Cranston was told he would not be offered another contract this summer and is now looking for a new club, with Port Vale thought to be interested.

"I enjoyed my time at Cheltenham and learned a lot about myself as a player and a person," Cranston said.

"I learned a lot from the staff, working under a great manager in Gary Johnson.

"Obviously I had my ups and downs, but I thought I was doing well until my injury.

"It was really hard to get back to my best in such a short period of time, but I cant say a bad thing about the club.

"They welcomed me halfway through the championship winning season and I made some lifelong friends.

"It has come to an end, but I am confident in my ability to bounce back to the player I was before the injury, kick on and improve for next season with my best football still to come."

Cranston was told by Cheltenham they were looking for greater Football League experience for the 2018/19 campaign.

"I just wasn't part of the plans," he said.

"But I played my best football at Cheltenham so I can't thank them enough for helping me improve.

"Getting back into the Football League by winning the title will be with me for the rest of my life and the season we stayed up was a great achievement to be a part of as well.

"I had my doubters, but I worked hard in last summer and the gaffer gave me another chance to prove people wrong.

"I started the season as planned, but the injury came at the worst possible time.

"I'd like to wish the club all the very best for next season and I hope they achieve what they they deserve."
