I have to confess to a minor addiction to self-help books. I'm constantly trying to improve myself and find little gems to help me grow in a variety of different books. This one was a particularly excellent book, with many gems and thought provoking moments. Frequently I read through these books quickly, skimming and gleaning info off the top; what catches my eye. I tried to do the same with this, but Nikki's writing style is like those moments where your best friend sits you down and tells you the truths you need to hear. I couldn't simply skim the surface, I had to delve in, read slowly, and give each chapter time to digest and manifest. She's not preachy or complicated; to the contrary her wording is simple and clear and her suggestions for activities are also simple but direct. It took me a while to complete the book, but each chapter had pearls of wisdom I held onto and mulled around before going into the next chapter. If you're looking for some simple but effective ways to cut through your own inner monologue and reprogram your brain with love and gratitude, this is a simple, loving book that points you in the right direction without preaching.

This is a beautiful book about what it means to really love yourself. It gives amazing tools to help on the journey to self-love and is written in a way that makes it hard to put down until the very end. Once I finished it, I was excited to go back and read it again, more slowly so that I could truly absorb all of the amazing wisdom and start putting the concepts and ideas into practice. I am sure it will be an amazing resource to use over and over as I travel this journey of self-discovery and self-love.

The only reason why it gets 4 stars is because I am still reading it and I look forward to the end when I know it will be well above a five. Its such a warm and refreshing book about self discovery and appreciation. I love to read it when I need to tap into my inner core. It really helps ground me. I love that there are personal growth exercises that you can use as a practice to observe yourself and figure out your path. We don't give ourselves enough attention and time in a positive way. This book allows you to recognize yourself as your greatest ally. Its a short enjoyable read that light hearted but heavy hitting. I definitely recommend it to anyone on a soul awakening path or looking to be.
