(audiobook) This series keeps getting better.
First of all, this time, we get a full background story for both main characters, and they even interact a lot with side characters who are way more defined. Definitely an improvement. It helps with relating with them and their struggles.
Though there are a few sexy scenes–and Ruby literally manages a sex club–this book is far from being erotica. Ruby and Joshua’s attraction for each other is as strong as with the previous couples, but there’s something more between them. Namely, a little girl. That makes for more emotional moments. The child is also at the center of most of their struggles, from Joshua missing her childhood, to the reason he and Ruby were kept apart, to the problem with Ruby’s job. Well though out.
Joshua and Ruby are surrounded by many people, from their family to their coworkers, and they’re all much more than just cardboard characters. Some bring humor, other are here to help or threaten their relationship. There’s also a real attempt at diversity, with disabled characters, characters from various origins or religions, queer characters… including the main characters.
It isn’t a political piece though, and the romance is very much the focus. It was a cute second chance, with Joshua trying to find his place as a father, and Ruby slowly giving it to him. Sweet seduction until the grande finale.
The narration too was better, because both narrators had the same energy, and their voices matched. They were both good too, which made Joshua and Ruby’s story even better.

I know what UCC stands for! It means Utterly Confused Cundy. I need to know the secret.
I’ve decided I am now an official member anyway. I might be Layla. I have all of those letters in my name, it’s nearly an anagram (middle name Julie).
Ruby is a mysterious one. How did she become the owner of Ruby’s Lounge? How did she become a Madame? Discarded is the key that unlocks the Ruby story and it’s a great one.
Wonder Woman walking a unicorn T-shirt! That’s my jam. I want one and I want one now. And where can I find my own Bobbe?
I love the fierce protection of these girls. I love the way they love hard. I just love this series.

If you’ve been reading Eva Lenoir’s UCC series, you know that Ruby is a key figure in the group of girlfriends. Discarded is her story. It’s hard to imagine discarded and Ruby in the same sentence, but there it is, and perhaps the mystery behind Ruby’s closed-off, composed demeanor has been solved.
Ruby is the strong, confident unofficial leader of the group of girlfriends who call themselves the UCC. She is a demanding yet compassionate business owner. She is a very loyal friend. Above all else, she is secretly a fiercely protective mother. Her best-kept secret is named Izabella, and she is precocious, lovable, and has a kick-butt collection of snarky tee shirts.
When the pipes at Ruby’s Lounge need attention, the first available contractor is Joshua Becker, a man from Ruby’s past. His resurfacing throws Ruby off her game and wreaks havoc with her life. Gorgeous Joshua grew up in a wealthy, powerful family. While he remained grounded, his family’s sense of entitlement and social propriety wouldn’t allow for a relationship with a girl from the wrong side of the tracks. 4.5 Firefly Stars!
I am so in love with this steamy UCC Saga! I couldn't wait to find out more about the owner of Ruby's Lounge, and it was more than I hoped for. Joshua comes to Ruby's lounge to do some work on Ruby's pipes, ahem, Ruby's Lounge pipes, only to find that the owner is the only woman he has ever loved and lost. Ruby is just as surprised and stunned to finally see Joshua again after he broke her teenage heart. They both trusted in the wrong people that just didn't have their best interests at heart. Add to that a huge secret, and their second chance at love could end before it ever begins. Ruby and Joshua have amazing chemistry. Ruby needs to be a strong, confident woman in her line of work, so it takes a deliciously dominant, yet loving Joshua to be her match in every way. Ruby and her UCC girls still meet every Sunday and have added a new member, Layla. She is so intriguing to me and I can't wait to learn more about her along with several others. These ladies are all fun and quirky, and I love their fierce support and loyalty to each other. I also loved seeing Raul again who is still super protective, fun, and a master of mixallogy. This is a funny, emotional, and sexy second chance romance that I guarantee will capture your heart!

Discarded is the third book in the UCC Saga. It's a second chance romance with fiery! This story pulled on heart strings. It's Ruby's turn to give up her secrets.

Discarded is the third in the UCC Sage and doesn't disappoint. Ruby O'Brien owner of Ruby's Lounge is about to let us in on a little secret and all because she's having problems with her pipes....who knew.
Twelve years earlier she believes she was discarded by her first love so when she suddenly finds her self face to face with Joshua Beckett the very man she believes left her without so much as a see you later she has to decide if the attraction she still feels for him is worth revealing her secrets for or if she should avoid him and carry on as if they never meet. Only problem she has is that Joshua Beckett isn't going anywhere. Once he sees ruby it's on and by on I mean he isn't going to let her slip through his fingers again. The attraction between them is still strong and he wants answers, so does Ruby and so do we. Is there a possibility of a second chance for Ruby and Joshua? Well, it's a romance so there's a strong possibility things will work out but not before more than a few family secrets are revealed. We meet up with the girls from the UCC and are introduced to some very entertaining members of the Beckett Family. It's a very enjoyable read, a proper romance with enough sauciness to keep a smile on your face. We also get to meet a new face Layla....now I wonder what she's up too. In book 3 of the #UCC Saga Discarded, we get intimate with Ruby O’Brien, owner of Washington’s best kept secret (Ruby’s Lounge.) Ruby’s Lounge is one of the most highly established businesses in the city which her customers are her number one priority. Ruby is hard core and fierce when it comes to her business. Her workers are on task and the money pours in. But when the love of her life returns, secrets are revealed, truths are told and the sexual tension is irrefutable.
We first meet Ruby along with her other #UCC sister’s in book 1 Disheveled (Dia’s HEA) and book 2 Disarmed (Jade’s HEA.) At the lounge Ruby and the #UCC ladies gather every Sunday evening to have adult cocktails and decompress from the weeks stressful events. At the latest meeting we are introduced to the newest member Layla. She is a mystery and I cannot wait until her story is revealed. But for now it is Ruby who is at the heart of an issue… and his name is Joshua.
In this edition Ruby gets a second chance at love, when her past love Joshua Becker walks into her lounge. Ruby is forced to face past mistakes and make decisions that will change not only her life, but several others around her. We form an opinion of Ruby in the first and second book of the UCC, however, Ruby’s story changes the readers’ thoughts about her personality and integrity.
There is love, lust, hot sex and feelings that go way beyond an old romance returning. You can’t predict what happens in this book, but the reader can be assured that you will love the direction it takes.
Eva Lenoir has hit this one out of the park. I had so many feelings while reading this book, I laughed, cried, screamed “NO WAY,” and smiled when I imagined Ruby at the highlight of her story.
5 stars, I highly recommend this story, in fact the entire series is a must read. Readers will continue to meet the UCC girls and keep up on their gatherings. I cannot wait for the next book.

This is such a good series! I love each of the women we have followed so far, but I honestly think Ruby is my favorite. She is currently in need of a quote for some plumbing work that needs to be done, and who should show up to give her one, but he boy that broke her heart. Joshua left for college and never reached out again to her but now he has returned and is on a mission. He plans on getting the woman back. But is she willing to put her feelings back out there, especially now? And what will happen when the two actually find out the truth to their teenage demise? I loved this story for a couple of reasons. I love strong women and Ruby is perfect role model. She is a wonderful boss and puts the needs and privacy of her clients first. Joshua is swoony, and it’s easy to see why Ruby fell for him. This second chance at love is exciting and fun! And we also get a quick look at Layla, the latest in the UCC women. She comes with secrets, and I can’t wait to see where she takes us!
Blake Lockheart and Raquel Beattie are a perfect fit for this story. Lockheart is a favorite of mine and understands Joshua giving him the voice and nuances to make him believable. Beattie is a new narrator to me. I loved her voice. It has a richness that easy to listen to and made for a great performance. This is a great team and made for a fun narration.

Discarded is a fantastic addition to the UCC Saga and a wonderfully written second chance romance. The storyline centres around Ruby, and her story is the kind that will pull at your heartstrings. Ruby is a strong-mined, confident, successful woman and the owner of the Ruby Lounge. She always came across as the leader and more protective one of the group of girlfriends, the UCC crew. Twelve years ago, she was discarded by Joshua Becker, her first love and high school sweetheart. But fate throws a curveball when Ruby's lounge needs maintenance and the pipes repaired. After many years, Ruby is utterly stunned when she comes face to face with Joshua, and he is gorgeous, a fine specimen of a man.
Their history is convoluted and wrapped in secrets and drama. When truths are revealed, mistakes are admitted, Ruby and Joshua get a much deserved second chance in love. They were absolutely perfect for one another, true soulmates, and the chemistry was off the charts.
Ruby and Joshua are authentic characters with genuine emotional depth, and their story is heartfelt and captivating. Blake Lockheart and Raquel Beattie did an outstanding job depicting the nuances of their characteristics, emotions, and chemistry. They literally breathed life into Eva's words and made the story come to life. Discarded was a terrific listen; it's very well written with quality narration, one I'm highly recommending.

Discarded is book three in the UCC Saga and is Ruby's story. Ruby is the owner of Ruby's Lounge, which is a secret establishment of sorts and she is a tough and fierce businesswoman. She has been keeping a secret for a very long time, and her world is upended one day when the contractor she calls for help with the lounge's plumbing just so happens to be someone very important from her past.
I have been thoroughly impressed with this author and this series and so happy I found it. I have been listening to the audiobooks which are fantastic and they keep getting better and better as the series goes on. I loved that this book had a little bit more of a serious tone and a bit more depth both in character development and story line. I really liked Joshua. From the minute he burst back into Ruby's life, he went after what he wanted, no holds barred, and you can't fault a guy for that. They had some great chemistry and I was very much rooting for their happily ever after.
There were some new character introductions as well as some of the familiar ladies of the UCC in the book. I found Discarded to be very engaging and enjoyable and would definitely recommend it!

This is the third book in the UCC Saga series. This is my favorite story in the series! I loved Joshua and Ruby's second chance to love. Joshua is very handsome. Ruby is beautiful, strong, and protective. They are so perfect together! Their story is sexy, funny, emotional, and sweet, filled with secrets, betrayal, and romance. The cast of supporting characters is impressive. Joshua's mother and grandmother are awesome and hilarious! This is an excellent second chance to love, and I enjoyed it! Blake Lockheart and Raquel Beattie did a fantastic job with the narration. Blake Lockheart is already one of my favorite narrators. Raquel Beattie is a new narrator to me. She has a beautiful voice, very pleasant to listen to. This is definitely a narrator to follow. I like their voices together. This is a great series, and I loved this installment. This is book 3 in LeNoir's UCC Saga series. This can be a stand alone but I think as with any series, if it can be read / listened in order you get so much more from each book. This book is the story of Joshua and Ruby. A beautifully well written and perfectly narrated (love a dual narration) second chance romance. Ruby is currently the owner of Ruby's Lounge while Joshua owns his own plumbing business. When Ruby needs some assistance with her pipes unbeknownst to her, her long ago, lost love appears. Joshua is smitten all over again and wants to rekindle what they once had but Ruby is holding on to the hurt from years ago - as well as a secret. Can these two over come all that stands in their way to find a HEA?!?

Discarded by Eva LeNoir is a second chance romance that I listened to on audio narrated by Blake Lockheart and Raquel Beattie. This is the third book in the UCC Saga series and can be read as a standalone. the stories are inter-connected but follow a different couple.
This is the first series of Eva's that I have read and it won't be my last. I liked the relationship between Joshua and Ruby. I really enjoyed getting both of their points of view throughout the book.
Blake and Raquel did a great job on the narration. I look forward to listening to more of their work in the future.
I would recommend this book if you like second chance romances or contemporary romances.

October 30, 2021Discarded was one of the easiest stories I've ever written. Third in the series, I'd been building Ruby's story for years before it ever came to fruition. She was an old friend practically dictating me her life and her hopes and dreams. I knew what was going to happen before I even wrote the first words on the page.
The fun part of this story was writing Joshua Becker. He was like a new, shiny toy. Ruby needed her childhood back, her laughter and her lightheartedness. With too many responsibilities pressing down upon her shoulders, her happily ever after had to be the one person who could take her back to her beginnings.
Gah, I love this couple. I love their chemistry and their banter. I love the power shifts from day to night. I love how strong their love is for each other even when they pretend it's "nothing".
My absolute favorite part, though? The two side characters who make this entire book whole.

I love second chance romances. Ruby and Joshua story how they found their love again, but it wasn't without challenges. A very good story I enjoyed listening to.

In the latest UCC installment, we learn about the lady of mystery who hosts the group each week. Ruby is classy yet vixenish, bold yet understated. She is the glue that holds the group of friends together. It was awesome getting to read more about her background, and also to see her lose some of that carefully maintained reserve she carries. Joshua knows exactly how to leave her undone, and I am here for it. Another brilliant bit of story-telling by Eva LeNoir. Can’t wait to read what the UCC is up to next!

I love these characters in the series. They all have their issues that give the storyline so much depth. With a fantastic performance from both narrators it really does enhance your experience with this book.

This is my second listen in the series although it is the 3rd book. Ruby is so strong of a main character. I love her sass and business woman take not crap attitude. Joshua her ex comes in like a freight train wrecking her normal life like crazy. The way the past and present comes together is beautiful. Heartache, longing, misunderstandings all create this beautiful and spicy coming to a HEA eventually. Joshua is so sincere for Ruby from the beginning and it makes you long for your own Joshua. Isa was absolutely adorable!

WOW, Just WOW
Probably one of my favorite 2nd Chance/Secret Baby Romance to-date.
This book had me smiling(sweet & seductive) the entire time and ended with happy tears. And yes it is definitely STEAMY with an Alpha male who is scrumptious!!!

All three books in the UCC series are fun and entertaining with undertones of crazy. Short and sweet with some smutty bits in there too.
