E-NEWS EACOA2021 Edition

The 3rd East African Congress of Accountants (EACOA) was held from 14-16 April 2021 at Hotel Africana, Kampala, under the theme, Integration for Accelerated Economic Growth and Development. The Congress was jointly organised by the East African Community Institutes of Accountants (EACIAs), namely: Ordre des Professionnels Comptables du Burundi (OPC-Burundi), the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (ICPAK), the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Rwanda (ICPAR), the National Board of Accountants and Auditors of Tanzania (NBAA) and the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Uganda (ICPAU). ICPAU hosted the 3rd EACOA, while ICPAK hosted the 2nd EACOA in 2018 and NBAA the first in 2016. Here are updates from the Congress.

Regional Integration: Not a matter of Choice but time

ICPAK Chairman Urges Women in Accountancy to embrace top Leadership

 

FCPA Rose Mwaura, the Chairman of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (ICPAK) has urged female accountants to consider joining top leadership positions. “We need to continuously challenge women to join top leadership positions because that is the only way that we can bring in fresh ideas to our institutes,” she said. Think about Integration in the Global sense – Dr. Muhumuza

ICPAR to Host 4th EACOA in 2022

The Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Rwanda (ICPAR) will host the 4th East African Congress of Accountants (EACOA) in 2022. The President of ICPAR, CPA Patrick Uwizeye gladly embraced the opportunity. “We look forward to receiving you in 2022 at the 4th EACOA. We are delighted to be able to carry on the mantle,” CPA Uwizeye said.
