This class will answer the questions of WHY alternative zoning solutions are necessary - followed by HOW different development patterns are achieved.  Correlations will be covered addressing the role of zoning in comparison to DNA's role in nature.  Since zoning serving as the DNA for our development patterns when particular results are desired in terms of what development generates those results must be distinguishable as part of the zoning code itself.  If the desired results are meant to produce walkable, diverse, mixed-use neighborhoods and centers, the application of conventional zoning standards falls entirely short of delivering these objectives.  The application of specific form-based codes will be introduced as a solution to acting as an alternative method for delivering a contrasting built environment to what the standard zoning and development practices are programmed to emit today.  Class limited to the first 50 registrants.
