More than a Threat #3

More Than a Hope

Rate this book
The thrilling and sizzling final installment in the More Than A Threat series.
Can their hope for forever be enough to get them through the final mission?

This was the worst plan ever. Putting her on the front line, smack in the middle of the danger, went against every protective instinct ingrained in Casey Weston. Identifying the human trafficking group, rescuing the victims, and keeping Kate unharmed was potentially too much for even the highly trained team to achieve. One thing was for certain: if they made it out it alive, Casey intended to keep Kate in his life--forever.

What in the heck did Kate sign herself up for? At least this time she had Casey and the others by her side. When the carefully crafted plan imploded into an epic gun battle, Kate found herself in over her head and unable to tell friend from foe. Captured and weak, Kate's only focus was on survival. Because if she made it through alive, she was determined to never let Casey out of her life ever again.

A threat brought them together; her independence nearly tore them apart. Will their combined hope for a future together be enough for a happy ever after?

More Than a Hope is the third and final book in the More Than a Threat series. This series should be read in order starting with Book 1, More Than a Threat. Please note this series is intended for mature audiences due to foul language, detailed intimate scenes, and violence.

This is a Mystery/Romantic Suspense, and this is the third book in the More Than a Threat series. I have read and reviewed the first two book in this series before reading this book. I do not think this book can be read as a standalone, and I really feel that you need to read the firsts books in this series before picking up this book. The characters in this book series are so great, and I really love the characters in this book. There is a ton of suspense in this book, and I think this book wraps up the series so great. I really enjoyed the ending of this book. Great Read.

The series is done… and I’m not ready….

The excitement of a new series by this author is only matched by the sadness when I turn the last page of the last book. She knows how to write exciting, emotion-filled romantic suspense with characters that immediately catch my attention. And keep it….

This felt like almost a bonus book, if a full-fledged, full length novel could be such a thing. Kate and Casey’s relationship was on solid ground yet there was more work to be done. And that work was going to shake the foundation of their love to the core. And almost end it. Yeah, that made for heart in your throat action and tension which I was lost in the whole way through. With a mix of high-octane adventure and soul-touching love, this story was the perfect cap to one of my favourite series… ~Diane, 5 stars

Kennedy L. Mitchell is definitely building a brand for herself with these action packed romantic suspense series. More Than A Hope is the conclusion of the series with amazing fierce heroine and even more bada$$ alpha hero.

You need to read the previous books because it is a continued storyline. Dr. Kate Wheeler is still struggling with the aftermath of the trauma she suffered from while uncovering a human traffic operation. And it makes her ex bodyguard and current boyfriend Casey Weston go crazy overprotective. So her decision to take part in another mission with his team isn't something he wanted. But Kate needs it. The question is whether it will be the biggest mistake they would be making.

Like any Kennedy Mitchell romantic suspense, this story is fast paced like action movies. Multiple moving pieces. Undercover operations. Secret auctions. Gun fights, stealthy attacks, spying missions and all the shenanigans. This mission is going to test the limits and strength of Kate and Weston's love. Because she is going to face the exact demons still haunting her nightmares. Its dangerous and volatile and Weston is on edge for right reasons. Now a man who can handle weapons and his body and his emotions equally expertly is pure gold. Like Weston. Kate is whole lot of stubborn and feisty and reckless. I wanted to shake her for her impulsive decisions because she wanted to eliminate the evil so badly. The chemistry was excellent. And Weston's team is full of some great secondary characters. This is their well earned happily ever after.

If you love your romantic suspense with generous amount of action thriller, More Than a Hope by Kennedy Mitchell is for you.

I need more of these two!!!
Once again the adrenaline and suspense were so good.

Kate and Weston are on a mission with the team to finally close down one of the worst human traffickers in the states but of course that comes with high risk and Kate does not know how to stay out of trouble!

With all the PTSD she’s going through she will never give up on people. Kate is on a mission and she needs to complete it, to feel whole again.

Weston's mission, saving others and keeping Kate safe. His love is beyond words, he finally found his other half and needs to keep her but at the same time, he knows he can’t restrain her.

The suspense, the chemistry between these two once again is off the charts! Hopefully, there’s a spin-off because all these characters have so much to give.

[I received a digital arc for an honest review]

More Than a Hope
is the third book in the More Than a Threat series by Kennedy L Mitchell. This series follows the same couple and picks up after the events of book 2 so I recommend reading those first.

"I smiled.
He smiled.
And in that moment, I knew even with my fucked-up-ness, everything would be okay, because we finally had each other."

Kate is ready to be on the front lines with Casey and the rest of his team, at least she thinks she is. Infiltrating a human trafficking group takes more from her physically and mentally than she could have prepared for. With more than just her life on the line will she be able to hold it together long enough for them to stop the bad guys and save innocent lives.

Kate is her sassy strong-willed self in this book, even if she's internally struggling mentally with the events from the previous books. She doesn't let that hold herself back from doing what she needs to do. Casey is the sexy alpha protective badass he always is, and I was left wanting his Point of View desperately. Seriously, I would do anything to get in his head. I bet he has a plethora of swoony and steamy thoughts running through his head.

More Than a Hope
has everything you expect from the More Than a Threat series. It has high tension situations, danger, violence, and some hot as hell sex scenes. I hope Kennedy L Mitchell decides to write more in this universe because there's more than a few side characters I'd love to read books about.

Great conclusion.

Kate and Weston found themselves on another self-appointed mission. The stakes ally high and it could either have a great impact or end them and their friends.

They were more solid as a couple, so the main troubles came mostly from outside, and they were huge.
This was a fast-paced story and it brought some sensitive issues, which were sensitively approached.
The secondary characters played an immense part in the plot and they brought great balance to it all.
I missed Weston's POV throughout the whole trilogy, so it was good that this story wasn't centered only around the couple. Their friends were a breath of fresh air.
As I said before, I hope the secondary characters get their own books.

“You’ll never stop being my exception.”

Kate and Weston are back! More Than A Hope is the third book in the More Than A Threat series and I would definitely recommend reading these books in order. Kate is still struggling with the events of the last books while at the same time she is determined to help rescue the women who have been taken by the human traffickers. When she offers to go undercover with Weston’s group of friends, is she mentally and physically ready to face the consequences of her actions and how will it affect her relationship with Weston?

“There wouldn’t be anything left in this world that would be worth protecting if you were gone. We’re tied together. Our lives are connected. Stop being so selfish in thinking your irresponsible actions will only reap consequences for you.”

Kate is still the same impulsive, passionate and independent woman who will fight for others, but she develops a much needed sense of self-preservation and a sense of how her actions affect others throughout this book.

“You know me at my worst, have seen me break down, and stayed. You stayed even when I wasn’t perfect. You stayed with me through it all.”

Weston is as alpha male and hot as ever. He’s fiercely protective of Kate while also allowing her the space to make her own decisions. Their chemistry is still combustible, but it’s their quiet moments that will melt your heart. The love between these two is palpable!

“I know what being alone is like, Casey, and since you stormed into my life, I haven’t been. It has nothing to do with your physical presence, it’s about knowing you’re always there looking out for me, loving me, thinking about me.”

More Than A Hope is one wild, exhilarating rollercoaster ride that is full of danger, suspense, romance and so much heat! I love Kate and Weston and their group of friends and I would love to see more books about these characters.

This is the third book in this series, it follows the same couple throughout so you need to read the previous books in this series as this is the conclusion to Kate and Casey’s story.

Kate is a sassy, strong willed woman and the perfect match for Casey, he’s a super hot. Bad ass alpha male.
Kate is still suffering from events in the previous book, but the need to take on another mission is a must for her, though Casey will do all he can to protect her., but is this a huge mistake?
This story has everything you would expect from this author and more!! You will be taking on a roller coaster and left clinging to your seat and rooting for Casey and his team. There were times Kate acted rashly and left me shouting at her! There’s some smexy times that heat up your kindle, another fabulous read.

I'm so glad I read this series back to back.
Boy does this couple go through so much within three books.
Will this book give them the happily ever after they deserve?
This was definitely my favourite of the three, with non stop action from cover to cover and the characters able to be their true selves and hopefully make a difference at the same time.
As always with this author, definitely recommend, and hope to see more from these characters in the future.

MORE THAN A HOPE is the third and final instalment in Kennedy L Mitchell’s contemporary, adult MORE THAN A THREAT erotic, romantic suspense series focusing on former Special Forces soldier turned body guard Casey Weston, and ER physician Dr. Kate Wheeler. MORE THAN A HOPE should not be read as a stand alone as it picks up immediately after the events of book two MORE THAN A RISK.

WARNING: Due to the nature of the story line premise, there may be triggers for more sensitive readers.

NOTE: If you have not read book one and two, there may be spoilers in my review.

Told from first person perspective (Kate) MORE THAN A HOPE follows Casey Weston and his former Special Forces Rangers (Tyler, Kyle, Anne and James) as they embark on a mission to rescue and recover several woman they believe to have been abducted and sold into sexual slavery. In MORE THAN A RISK Kate discovered the seedier side of businessman Chase Smitson, and attempted a take down, all on her own. With the help of Weston’s team, they effectively stopped Chase’s end of the human trafficking business but plans had already been set into motion, and the gang along with a pushy Dr. Kate Wheeler, with the aid of their government counterparts, set off to Hawaii to put an end to a sexual slave auction. As the team make plans to go in undercover with the assistance of Weston’s brother Ryan, Kate demands to be part of the operation, effectively placing everyone and the man that she loves in the direct line of fire. What ensues is the ongoing relationship between Kate and Weston, and the potential fall-out as suspicion grows regarding the newcomers to sexual slavery.

The relationship between Weston and Kate is erotic and intense but our heroine continues to be TSTL (too stupid to live). Inexperienced in the ways of military missions, search and rescues, and Special Forces heroics, a stubborn and impulsive Kate Wheeler pushes, demands and throws a temper tantrum in an effort to be part of the mission wherein she will become fodder for the sick and depraved. Her self-preservation remains absent but her stupidity grows by the hour-boredom threatens their operation as Kate and Anne go out on their own. Once again, suspending reality is best, as it pertains to allowing a civilian to partake in, and control a mission such as this.

Tyler, Kyle, Anne and James return. The camaraderie between former teammates and friends is fun and frenetic but Anne pulls a fast one, along with our heroine, effectively threatening the success of their current mission. I am hoping the author has plans for further story lines involving the team.

MORE THAN A HOPE is a story of recovery and rescue, take down and destruction, power, desperation, vengeance, love and forever The fast paced premise is intriguing; the romance is intimate; the characters are clever, dynamic, spirited and edgy but our heroine’s recklessness and absurdity are questionable on so many levels. MORE THAN A HOPE, and the More Than a Threat series is captivating and compelling if only you can get past the unreality of some of the situations.

A few months ago Kennedy Mitchell was recommended to me, and I quickly devoured an entire series of hers. She does not disappoint! This series is a little different from some of the books that I have been reading the last few years. First, this series centers around one couple, Kate and Weston. Second, the book is not a dual point of view. The book is through Kate’s eyes only.
I would highly recommend that you read the first two books before reading the third. While Mitchell does a great job of making sure readers know who all of the characters are, there are parts of the storyline that might not make sense to a reader.

The connection that Weston and Kate have with each other is very evident even before Weston returns from training. You can feel the love and connection that Kate and Weston share through their communication with each other and Kate’s thoughts. It is clear that there has been some traumatic experiences that the pair have shared. As they work together with Weston’s team to take down some seriously awful people, Kate and Weston’s relationship grows. One of the things that I adored most about Weston was that he did not try to change Kate. He loved and accepted for who she was a successful, strong, and driven woman. While he almost always doesn’t love what Kate is doing, he still stands behind her supporting her and making sure she is safe. Kate is a pretty phenomenal woman. One she is super smart, she is an ER Doctor by day and so very headstrong. Throughout the book she has one goal, helping as many people as she can. Then there is Weston. Wow. He is the thing that book boyfriends are made of. He is HOT, loves Kate with his whole soul. He supports her all while protecting her. Did I mention that he is hot?

Before diving into this series I knew little about the background of this series. I am not one that needs trigger warnings, but I know that others do. There is a lot of talk about human trafficking. Weston, Kate and the team are working hard to take down the human traffickers, but know they are around some seriously terrible people. So if that is not for you, then you might want to skip this series. That all being said, this book kept me on the edge of my seat and I could not put it down! These characters have amazing chemistry, the story was suspenseful and not overly played out, and some great steamy scenes. Not only that I have been thinking not only about Kate & Weston but the rest of their crew. I need more of this team. These guys and gal need their HEA, too!!!

More Than a Hope is the third book in the book in the More Than a Threat series, and is a continuation of Dr. Kate Wheeler and her boyfriend Casey Weston's story. Book 1 and 2 should be read first to give context to who Kate and Casey are, their backstory with each other, and their work together in book 3. This 3rd book takes place right after book 2, and we see Kate and Casey stronger than ever and working together to bring down a human trafficking ring. There's plenty of action and suspense as Kate, Casey, and his ex Special Forces teammates travel to Hawaii. The destination may be beautiful, but this only serves to contrast against the disgusting reality the characters find themselves in. Though Casey and his teammates are prepared to face whatever darkness is out there, there are certain events which rattles Kate and shows her vulnerability and the scars of her past with smarmy businessman Chase Smitson. Though there were times when Kate's need for independence may have trumped her ability to stay put with the team and to listen to them, her desire and the extent she would go through to help others can sway you over to her side. I'm a fan of Casey Weston and his team, and this book showcases how they would risk their lives for each other but also for the people who are victims and can't help themselves. There's plenty of mystery, suspense, and twists in this story, and there's such a great cast of secondary characters that I hope one day will be expanded upon. Overall, this was an exciting story with a romance that showcases passion and growth, with characters who are fascinating and bold!

"There wouldn't be anything left in this world that would be worth protecting if you were gone. We're tied together. Our lives are connected."

I did wish for more of Casey's POV, and sometimes I felt that Kate's attraction (and her thoughts about this attraction) to Casey may have gotten in the middle of the story and the seriousness of the subject matter.

What a great end to the More Than trilogy by Kennedy L Mitchell and left me in a satisfying book coma. Kennedy has hooked me with her suspense-filled steamy mysteries with alpha heroes and seriously strong heroines. Kate was no exception--from page one book one (More Than a Threat), Kate was kicking butt and taking names. She's tiny, fierce, and oh so independent. She meets her match in intense and somber Casey Weston, and by book three, they are in love and danger but bound to take down the bad guys.

The plotting of this story was riveting, and everything played out with excitement, romance, and bravery. Along the way, we met all the folks making up their team of agents taking down human traffickers. Kate said from book one that she wanted a career that meant something, and Kennedy Mitchell seems to set the groundwork for a series about this team and making Kate's wish a reality. We've met several of the characters along the way, and we know they need stories.

Kate and Casey are off the charts hot, but what is better is how respect builds between these characters. Kate is strong-willed and gets herself in trouble quite a bit. Sometimes she's doing it for the right reasons, but mostly it's because she is just stubborn. Kate had to learn to accept that others might know more than her and unnecessary risks put everyone in danger. Kate had growing to do through all three books, and so did Casey, but they grew together and made their story so much better.

I really hope there is more to come as this exciting team takes down more bad guys. Kennedy L Mitchell is definitely becoming one of my favorite suspense novelists.

This is book 3 of the More Than a Threat Trilogy, but you can read this one without being too lost if you do not read book 1 and 2. I adored Kennedy L Mitchell and engaged so well with Kate in this story. I thought the premise was well thought out, and having read books 1 and 2 I enjoyed the evolution of the series itself. My reasoning for a 3 start review is because I needed Weston. I thought Kate is a well rounded and interesting character. When she was on the page with Weston, I could feel the chemistry. You could get a real and true understanding of who Weston is, but that only happens when he is on the page with Kate. You get zero of his inter musings, his feelings regarding the decisions that Kate makes unless they are stated out loud. I get that authors make the choices they make for a reason, but I found the entire series lacking because we don't get that other side to Weston. His character doesn't fall flat at all, and that is a difficult thing to do when the POV is played out the way it is, but there is so much more to Weston that his facial expressions and the words he says to Kate. I love the way that Kate goes through a transformation of sorts throughout this story, and yet she doesn't at the same time. You have to read it to understand. I feel as though with only Kate's POV, this didn't need to be drawn out into 3 books, but I do really enjoy this story and Kennedy L. Mitchell's writing style.

I've been waiting for the conclusion to the More Than a Threat for a long time, and while it still was insane the impatience I had going on for so long, it was worth the wait (for the most part LOL). I hope everyone will realize that since this is the conclusion, you MUST READ Books 1 & 2 FIRST AND IN ORDER. Kate, Casey, & his team are back at it again trying to stop a human trafficking group while she's trying to move past what happened to her in the previous book & dealing with the guilt, so she was kind of overcompensating with some of her actions that drove Casey batty. I have to ask what the hell is wrong with a secondary character named James?! He's such a tool throughout the book which drove me crazy LOL! The twists are coming in hot while my f-bombs are dropping like crazy, heat in spades, lots of laughter, a fantastic group of supporting characters, and action galore made this another big hit for me! I promise you can't go wrong with the brilliant Kennedy L. Mitchell and I HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

I have loved each of Kennedy Mitchell's books when I have had the chance to read them. This series was no different than the others I have read of hers. The need to protect is always strong in a parent but when you find the love of your life, there is even more protection to be had.

This series gave all of the instincts you may go through with a little of frustration that goes along with it when the one who is being protected doesn't think they necessarily need it. That was Kate and Casey but these two once they realized it loved harder that they both thought was possible.

I was a bit late in reading this series but was glad as the first 2 books were out already so I didn't have to wait like most of the time. So if you have not started this one yet, I would recommend it and should be read in reading order to be able to follow along with the story and adventure you will be taken on.

Kate and Casey are back! And yes you need to read the previous books in the series before diving into More Than a Hope. This is your warning, this book deals with some heavy and sensitive topics. But Kennedy L. Mitchell handled them with the care they needed.

I like that Kate was still struggling with the aftermath of what had happened to her before. That even with all the help at her disposal, the only place she truly found solace was with Casey. I really enjoyed seeing both sides of him come out. The protector and the concerned lover. And trust me when I say Kate gave him plenty of reasons to put both on display.

The final installment of the More Than a Threat series brought more drama, more secrets, more danger and more steam. I feel winded after finishing Kate and Casey's fast paced and intense journey. But that ending...YES! It was just what they deserved.

More Than A Hope is the third and final book in the More Than a Threat series. This is not a stand-alone book, and the series should be read in order to understand the story. This was a new to me series and I am so glad I got the read the entire series at once. It truly was amazing and waiting for the next book would have been torture. The characters were fascinating, and the plot caught my attention from the beginning. I loved seeing how protective Casey was and how he stood by her side no matter what. There were a lot of twists and turns, action, intrigue, hot alpha men, and a sassy heroine. This is a perfect series to binge read on a weekend because you will want to read every book right away. I look forward to future books and maybe seeing some of Casey’s friends in future books.
I received an ARC and am voluntarily leaving a review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Continues to be one thrilling story!

This story continues to be very captivating, highly entertaining and packed full of action and suspense. There is no way you will be able to put this one down once you start. It’s the kind of story that consumes you and makes you forget about the rest of the world.

Kate and Casey continue to take us on one hell of a dangerous adventure that keeps us on the edges of our seats the whole way through. Their interactions and back and forth banter will have you laughing and then swooning over how perfect they are together.

Lots of very tense moments, tons of violence and danger and a whole lot of very sexy and incredibly steamy moments. It’s a wild rollercoaster rider that you hope never ends!

Highly recommend this series!

I really wasn’t sure what more could happen since book two felt like a decent ending. But I’m so happy there was a book three! I love Tink & Weston so getting more of their story was the cherry on top of perfect trilogy sundae!

I loved all the action & adventure in this book. I loved the amusing situations Tink always finds herself in & I was giggling like crazy during the scene with Anne. This crew creating a team is probably the best thing ever & id love more stories of them rescuing the innocent & slaying the bad guys! The ending was so sweet & I felt like everything slotted into place so perfectly! Truly another great read by Kennedy!

More Than a Hope is the conclusion to the More Than a Threat series, ending with Casey and Kate married, the rest if the group on their way back home and a wide range of possibilities for the next series featuring these amazing characters. Kennedy Mitchell delivered once again showcasing the talent she has for giving her readers books with suspenseful romance with a hint of danger, a flare for characters that you would love to know and an ending that makes you want to know more. This is a phenomenal series, a must read for those readers that love suspenseful romance with alpha males and the strong females that drive them crazy!

More than a Hope is the third book in the More Than a Threat series. It continues to follow Kate and Casey's story and the first two books must be read first. This book is a fast paced, action packed, heart pounding romantic suspense that will keep you on the edge of your seat! Kate is still battling her past demons and taking impulsive risks, while Casey continues to be her over the top protector. These two are hot together and Kennedy Mitchell gave us some intense, sexy scenes!! The only thing I would have loved to have was a snippet from Casey's POV. I wanted to know what he was thinking! I also loved some of the secondary characters and hope they get their own story one day!!

More Than a Hope is the third book in this series and picks up where book two left off. Kate is still coming to terms with the events from the past, her father is still causing her problems, and she’s determined to rescue the women who have been taken from the human trafficking group. Weston is very protective of Kate and he’s there beside her to show her he will keep her safe. An incredible story filled with danger, suspense, romance, and plenty of steam. I highly recommend you add this book and series to your TBR.

Only my second novel by this author and I was trapped by the entertainment of her words!

So much action packed in an easy to read in one-sitting book!

I loved both the mains, and fought along side them for an HEA! Hard to do with what Ms. Mitchell sent their way! :)

Kate is a heroine you would follow to the ends of the earth! Her fight for what's right! Amazing! I thanked goodness for Weston and the rest of the team's help!

I will definitely catch up with this author's other work!

Love Kate and Weston, they have been through so much from start to finish to end up together. They have all the passion, angst and so much more. Kennedy L Mitchell definitely knows how to bring the stories to the page and make you feel like you are apart of the adventure. I have rooted for Kate and Weston from the beginning, their lifes stories brought together for one action packed final adventure that will sweep you off your feet. Amazing series.

More than a hope is the third and final book in the more than a threat series and I absolutely loved it.
I'm so glad that I was able to read these back to back with no pause in between, the things this couple have to go through keeps you completely consumed from cover to cover. It's my favourite out of the series.
Anything that this author writes I would read, I love the action and suspense that she brings.
This series is 100% recommended

Kate is still struggling to come together with the past, and her father is still causing problems.
Weston is right beside Kate and is still the structure she needs to feel safe after what they both went through.
An assignment close to home has her feeling the desperate need to help, but not everyone is happy about this.
I've loved Kate and Weston and can't wait for others to read this book.

I totally loved Weston and his group of friends. I loved their banter and how they played off of each other. Kate did grow in this book, more so than the other books in the series. Did I warm up to her? A little. She turned into a totally different person. She just needed the right incentive to be a different kind of person than what she was before.
