Play Hard #4

Hard to Lose

Rate this book
I know finding and signing a military vet to the agency is a long shot--but it’ll be good press just letting him try out. That’s what I tell my family, rather than admit I can’t get the letter he wrote us five years ago out of my head.

But what I tell the bartender in his hometown is a lie. I know veterans protect each other. So I pretend to be a graduate student.

Sparks. Flame. Fire. I accidentally got in too deep.

I didn’t expect to develop feelings for Gunner Camden.

And there’s no way I can admit to my lies now, not without destroying what we share. So I’ll keep faking it.

***

There are two versions of me: before, and after deployment.

Back then I was a screwup kid. I’d lie, cheat, and steal my way out of everything. My only love was baseball.

After I started fighting, I found out there had been another path for me. One that involved my dream. But by then I had seen too much.

The old me was dead, so I put my dreams to rest, too.

Then Chase Kinkade walks into my bar and reminds me that life is meant to live. No regrets.

Fresh. Happy. Hopeful. I can start to see a new dream, with her.

But sometimes things are too good to be true… and dishonesty is the one thing I can’t forgive.

Kincade Sports Managment.
That's widowed dad-boss Kenyon Kincade and his four daughters.
The final daughter to go find her happily ever after is the youngest: Chase.
She wants to find a guy they wanted to recruit a few years ago. They recently received a letter from him, a letter that was lost for five years. And now Chase needs to know his story. Maybe she can get some good press for the company out of the whole thing.

Ryan, now known as Gunner, is running a bar in a small Virginia town and it's super insta attraction between him and Chase. But both are not really honest about things...

LET THE FUN TIMES BEGIN...

I really enjoyed reading this.
But I also hated parts of it. I hated that they start out lying to each other - or omitting - whatever. I don't want my hero and heroine to start out like that. Because it will always end up in fights and break-ups and unnecessary drama.
But the story was so cute. Gunner is such an amazing guy and they have such an amazing time together. Adorable.
We also get some very heartbreaking moments.
But there's always the lie in the background - and it takes them forever to get to the truth. Ugh. I wish it would've come out way earlier. But it is what it is and the book wasn't bad. I just didn't like the lying part.

This was a really sweet and sexy and emotional sports/military/bar/sports agent romance!

Can't wait to read Finn's book next! Hard to Love I wanted him to get his HEA since book #1 - even though he was an a§§ most of the time! 😂

And I also wouldn't mind seeing a girl-power Jerry McGuire kind of sports-rom-com series on Netflix one day! ☺

She’s heaven. She’s hell. She’s the temptation I can’t resist and the torture I willingly put myself through, so I can watch her come undone before I get mine.

swoony sigh
Now y'all, I don't typically go for those cinnamon roll heroes, but man did this one hit the spot for me. Every now and then a girl just needs a hero that's sweet, supportive, kind, who is just too good to be true. And Gunner was all of those things and more.

Now I've been waiting a long time for Chase's book. I just knew that watching this tough as nails sports agent that owns her sexuality and doesn't have time for relationship fall and fall hard would be the most satisfying thing. And you know what? It really was. I actually thought for a while that her story would leave her with Finn, but I was super happy that Finn's story is going to be told in the next book. And I've digressed. Back to Chase.

Chase is all about her job and her family company and she'll do anything to end up on the top. So when she finds a long lost letter sent from a soldier to her father years ago, she's determined to find him for PR Story gold. An upcoming baseball pitcher star giving it all up for the military just screams a good story. Too bad she has no idea where to find him.

Gunner long ago gave up on his dream of becoming a professional athlete. He's settled in his quiet life as a bar owner/bartender, until a beautiful woman walks into his bar and tilts his world on it's axis/ Chase has no idea that Gunner is the man that she's looking for. And Gunner has no idea that Chase is the daughter of the sports agent that he sent a letter to all those years ago.

Now I'm not usually a fan of insta anything, but let me tell you, it just worked here. Chase and Gunner's fall was quick and potent. They never saw the other coming and even though they know it can't be permanent, they can't keep away from each other.

Hard To Lose was a beautiful and touching story of love when you least expect it. It's a story of life's losses and second chances. It's not perfectly wrapped up in a bow, but it's satisfyingly real. And I simply adored it. I loved the way Chase fought for Gunner as much as he fought for her. I love a story with a strong female character, and Chase was one if I ever saw one. This was a story that from anyone else, I'd say was too sweet for me. But from K Bromberg, it just hit every single stop. If you're looking for a swoon, small town love story with a tortured but oh so sweet military hero and an imperfectly perfect hero, look no further.

Hard To Lose is my favorite book in this series! I just love the background story on Gunner that shaped him into the man he is today. The relationship he develops with Chase is heartwarming, sizzling, romantic, and angsty. I can't say enough good things about this storyline. Kristy Bromberg has given us everything we have come to love in a romance in this story. It's one I will read again. If you only read one romance novel this year, Hard to Lose is the one I'd choose for you to read.

"Maybe she needs a cause to fight for."

Hard to Lose is the fourth book in the Play Hard Series. A series based on a family of sports agents, each book in the series is full of passion and heart. Chase Kinkade has been on the sidelines watching her sisters find their match and all she can do is keep working hard to achieve her professional goals. When the opportunity comes for her to follow up on a former recruit that joined the military instead of signing on to play professional ball, she goes undercover to hopefully get a great story. The last thing Chase was expecting was to fall head over heels in love with the man. Gunner, a small town bartender, is content with his life but deep down knows he is missing something. When Chase Kinkade rolls into town, he simply cannot get enough of her. But what will he do when he discovers the truth about how and why she landed in his life?

description
"...good guys, unicorns like him, really do exist."
Told in dual POV, Hard to Lose is a smoking hot read full of passion and tender romance. In addition to the sports romance element, Bromberg explores the life of a veteran and the aftermath of war. Because Gunner gave up his dreams to be a professional athlete to fight for his country, we experience the turmoil of those choices right along with him. The relationship between Gunner and Chase is sultry and sweet and they truly made a perfect match.
"My beginning is her end."
Overall, Hard to Lose is another stunning addition to this series. I have enjoyed every single character from this series and Gunner makes an excellent addition to the crew. Although I am not normally a fan of "deep secrets" in a read, Chase and Gunner made it all worth it. I will certainly miss the Kinkade Sisters and their men but my character I will miss the most from this family is the father and patriarch of the family. Mr. Kinkade loves his daughters fiercely and will do anything to help his girls! There's nothing better than a father's love! I have always been a fan of K. Bromberg and I certainly look forward to more greatness to come!

4.5 'Dance in the rain with me' Stars!

Chase Kincade is next in K. Bromberg’s Play Hard series and I have to say (at the start) I was not as curious about her as with the other Kincade sisters. She was not about love and all about work. But now, after reading her emotional love story with Gunner, I am so happy she cracked her shell and found her happy ever after. And who better than a sexy veteran turned bar owner (who very sadly lost his baseball dream) to sweetly give Chase everything she didn’t know she needed. I was all over it from start to finish!

Hard to Lose is the fourth installment in Kristy’s Play Hard series and it focuses on the youngest Kincade sister. Chase is a business woman who is all about achieving her goals as a sports agent. She doesn’t have time for hearts and flowers. She has seen her three sisters settle and fall in love and she believes she doesn’t need that. Suddenly though she receives a letter from Ryan Camden, who sent it from the war zone years ago after losing his dream of becoming a professional baseball player. Now she is decided to find him, feeling a strange connection to this man she doesn’t know. Enter Gunner, who also happens to be the Ryan she is looking for (but she doesn’t know that). He is a sweetheart, he is gorgeous, and a man who is still suffering the consequences of war. Sparks fly and this relationship becomes so much more than either of them expected.

She's heaven.
She's hell.
She's the temptation I can't resist and the torture I willingly put myself through, so I can watch her come undone before I get mine.

Oh man.. I am a sucker for stories that are full of emotions and, in my opinion, K. Bromberg is one of the best at love stories that bring all these feels. I was not surprised this series continues to be amazing in that aspect and everything else it brings. I loved how Hard to Lose’s plot developed and the old/new crew of characters it has. Chase is just as wonderful as the rest of the Kincade sisters, a woman following her dreams, loving her incredible family and finally also finding her much deserved happiness. Gunner. Oh God, Gunner.. I LOVED HIM. He is the sweetest man, with a side of cocky and a heart of gold after everything he’s gone through, he is such an outstanding hero and the perfect match for Chase. I loved their banter, their burning chemistry and the unexpected but unstoppable emotional connection between them. This novel was such a pleasure to read and a wonderful addition to the series.

“We're the only ones who can write our own story. Chase, the only person I want to write my happily ever after is with you.”

Therefore, I am rating Hard to Lose with 4.5 STARS because I loved this roller coaster of emotions from start to finish. I loved Chase and Gunner, as individuals and as a couple. I loved the sexual tension and the explosive chemistry. And I loved how their relationship turned into so much more. I am so glad these two souls found each other, healed together and found their happiness. It was very much deserved! And you want to know what else I am happy about? That this is not the last book in the series!! We are also getting Finn’s story and I am SO excited about it. I am sure Kristy will find the perfect woman who will change his ways forever. This series is SO WORTH IT!

I am actually between 2 and 3 stars for Hard to Lose. At the end, I decided I do not hate this book nor like it. So I put it under 3 stars.

The story is boring and min angst. The plot is boring and flat. The story is still OK to enjoy. But nothing more. The relationship between Chase and Gunner is also flat. I keep wanting something more. More drama, more angst, more steam. This book is from Miss Bromberg after all.

Well, like I said Hard to Lose is OK read. Have a lot of potential but not well developed.

"Dance in the rain with me."

Believe it or not, this was my first read by this author. I KNOW!! Another one where I am punching my own face over here! I really want to go back and read this entire series now as well as a bunch of her backlist. But, I can tell you that this can totally be read as a stand alone.

What a refreshing read!!

I love me the alpha bad boys and the anti heroes, but every once in a while, it's so nice to read about a hero who's a nice guy, a vet, a baseball player, and a bartender?!? Um, YES PLEASE!!

847024_zpsobi7ip3t

The setup for this book kinda sorta reminded me of Message in a Bottle where our heroine, Chase, receives a letter that was lost in the mail, from Gunner, which he had mailed out years ago to Chase's family sports management firm. The letter speaks to her and she becomes bound and determined to track Gunner down because...hello, good PR!!! A baseball player who gave it all up to serve his country.

"Maybe I'm curious about this man who's close to me in age and who felt so strongly about his duty, that he gave up his dream to fulfill it."

So off to the small town of Destiny Falls Chase goes to track down the man from the letter, Ryan Camden.

Now, these two have instant sparks and chemistry, and while I actually love a good instant chemistry/ love-at-first-sight-story, it is almost NEVER done correctly. Here? It was so well executed and it totally worked for me.

"One orange envelope, one mistaken identity, and one dance in the rain later, and there's nowhere else I'd rather be or person I'd rather be with."

I loved watching this no-nonsense heroine who is convinced she doesn't need a relationship and is all about her career, totally have her world turned upside down with Gunner. Their love story was sweet and hella steamy, but there's also an element to the story that I won't go into because it's a spoiler that totally kept me invested in this story and turning the pages.

Hard To Lose (The Play Hard Series, book 4) was such a heartwarming ride with seriously one of my new favorite book boyfriends. I can't wait to read Hard to Love next!

Chase Kincade is the youngest of four sisters from New York working for their family business Kincade Sports Management. She's a type A personality who accomplishes all the goals assigned to her. She's driven, confident, independent, and highly competitive. Always up for a challenge she is the sister who goes above and beyond to get new contracts and clients for their agency. She works with top athletes, and is fierce and ambitious. She knows herself and what she wants and is unapologetic about it. This extends to her personal life where she enjoys her no strings attached lifestyle and never lets herself get sidetracked by a man. Then she receives a lost letter that was mailed five years ago from a talented baseball pitcher. She can't quit thinking about this man and wondering what happened to him. She feels a connection to a man she's never met, and decides to track him down. Maybe he still plays ball, and still has a chance.

Gunner Camden has loved baseball for as long as he can remember, but he gave up his dreams of MLB when he decided to serve his country. His path is forever changed and he's now a different man living a peaceful life in a small town outside of Virginia Beach. Then Chase Kincade walks into his life and turns it upside down. She makes him feel alive again, but they have no future since they are temporary with an expiration date. Sparks fly, and they are enjoying living in the moment together. Then unexpected feelings develop they don't know what to do with. Will they get a fresh start and a possibility of something more, or will lies and deceit ruin everything?

-There is definitely something to be said about a man's touch when he's tuned in to the woman he's with.

-"He's nothing like I expected." And like everything I never knew I wanted.

-My heart ached in my chest in a way I've never felt it feel before.

Hard To Lose (The Play Hard Series, book 4) by K. Bromberg is a heartwarming, emotional story about family, forgiveness, fate and beautiful love. I really loved this book! This man is such an incredible human being and swoony to the extreme. This is one of my top favorites of the series! Gunner is pure book boyfriend gold! <333

Sometimes you can love a story
even when it starts off where you personally don't want it to. I happened to really love the majority of this book...but I would be lying if I didn't share the one thing that made me annoyed from the start. I hate it when there is a built-in concept of withholding the truth about something, knowing at some point it is really going to suck when it is revealed.

There ...I said it. Now I am not revealing anything that wasn't in the blurb...and it is the undercurrent of part of the book...

But as a testimony to the ability and talent of Ms. Bromberg...Damn, she writes a great book. She takes these two people and makes us care about them, feel for them, and also wish we had someone that great to kiss, hug and do all those other goodies with...

So I am suggesting you get this book, turn a blind eye to the omission part, and dig in for a delightful read. I did and enjoyed it fully.

So much more than a romance – a knockout addition to The Play Hard Series. K. Bromberg always balances the light-hearted and somber tones, the highs and lows that bring laughter one minute and teary eyes the next – she’s very good at arousing emotions that run the gamut from heartache and misery to hope and love.

Gunner is an amazing hero – a good guy, through and through. A little broken and guilt-ridden, but handsome, strong, caring and truly noble. In my opinion, one of Bromberg's best-written heroes.

Chase is the fourth and youngest Kincade sister. She’s a little lost and confused, but she’s passionate and focused on finding her path forward.

A deeply emotional story from start to finish – one that is sure to touch your heart. I sure hope we get to see a little more of both Gunner and Chase in Book 5 that features Finn Sanderson, who we met in the first book.

The fourth book in the Play Hard series is a mix of sports and military romance.
Chase is the youngest of the Kincade sisters. As the baby, she always felt she had to prove her worth and her strength. She is very goal oriented and doesn't do love or relationships. Her only serious relationship was with Finn Sanderson, the villain of this series, and he cheated on her and broke her heart.
She comes across a 5 year old letter from a baseball prospect, Ryan Camden, now a war veteran and she sets out to find him and maybe gain some media attention by helping him in some way. At the beginning of the book she is selfish and self-centered.
But instead of Ryan, she meets Gunner, a war hero, running the local bar in Ryan's small military town and helping kids from military families.
Their connection is instant although insta-lovey. Gunner is an amazing guy, with PTSD and a sad, abusive past. I liked him a lot. He was forced to give up on his dream of becoming a pro and join the military in circumstances out of his control.
Will Chase get over her relationship fobia? Will Gunner and Chase be able to find their hapiness?
Unlike the other books that are a commentary on the difficult task of navigating the sports world as a woman, this book focuses on Gunner's experience. It takes a look at abuse and at the military experience. At how war changes people in unexpected ways and how the impact is not just on veterans but also their families.

When a letter arrives 5 years late to Kinkade Sports Management (KSM) an idea is seeded in Chase’s mind and she decides to see if she can make it work. The letter is from a promising super fast baseball pitcher, declining an invitation to meet with them. Ryan Camden could have potentially had an amazing career in MLB but he walked away from it never to be heard from again.

Chase sets out to find Ryan Camden. She is curious about what became of him and when she discovers he is now an ex-veteran she sees an opportunity to organise a fundraising baseball game which would be great PR for KSM and might still land him the career dream he was chasing. Her investigation skills lead her to Destiny Falls, the last known place of residence.

Destiny Falls is not a big town so surely it can’t be hard to find him? After scoping things out she ends up in the local drinking spot - FU-BAR. Someone here is bound to know him but she quickly becomes distracted with the gorgeous bartender and owner, Gunner. She knows that part of job is to chat to and charm his patrons but there is definitely a connection there that is more than him playing a role.

‘She owns my attention the minute she walks into the bar. A new face in this bar gets noticed pretty damn quick to say the least. The town is small. The bar patrons are regulars. She’s not one of them.’

Chase soon discovers there is so much more to this guy. He is a complete giver, he is very aware of how lucky he is to be alive and tries to make life a bit better for the families of veterans who have suffered loss. He volunteers at a local community centre and tries to financially support the families of guys he lost in combat. He is open and honest and makes Chase feel like the only woman in the room, each time she is around him.

‘I said kissing is overrated.’ Words I used to think were true until Gunner. Until his kisses that feel like a slow, sweet seduction, pulling you in, dragging you under, becoming a temptation like I’ve never known.’

Chase’s time in Destiny Falls is limited and despite making this clear to Gunner, they fall head over heels into a beautiful relationship. He is everything she never knew she was missing in life and being with him is so easy. I think that both of them could imagine a future together, even if it's a long distance. Surely they could make it work?

‘I stare at him, at this incredible man, and wonder how my whole world just narrowed in such a short time and became solely about him. My world used to have no beginning or ending point but now when I look at him, he’s both of those to me.’

Chase’s reason for being in Destiny Falls brings her back to reality though, along the way she has told a few white lies to Gunner to protect herself from people knowing her reason for being there. The one thing he will not tolerate is anyone being deceitful and when things go tits up she feels the full impact of what that means. I knew things were going to eventually implode and I was reading as fast as I could and also trying not to because I wanted everything to stay all sweet and happy :)

‘If I was smart, I’d walk away right now. This man is too good. Too kind. Too genuine. Too thoughtful. Too …. Everything. I. Don’t. Deserve. Him. But I’m not smart.’

I really enjoyed this story, Gunner is super cute and I love that he was so into Chase. I like how her attitude on life was changed when she saw things through Gunner’s perspective. A fabulous page turning read.

Run, don’t walk to get yourself a copy of Hard to Lose! You don’t want to miss this fantastic friends-to-enemies-to-friends-to-lovers romance between Chase and Gunner!

Hard to Lose is book four in the fantastic Play Hard series—seriously, this series just keeps getting better and better! I know I’ve been dying to see just what happens when Chase finds a man worthy of her love. And wowza, Gunner is that man and more!

There are so many hurdles these two needed to jump over on their way to their happily ever after. But Chase and Gunner—when working together—make it look easy. Okay, well, some things weren’t so easy, but anyway…

I loved Gunner and Chase’s dynamic—they were a perfect balance between loving, fun, smart, sexy, and snarky. They were perfect for each other in all ways in and out of the bedroom. Though some of the best scenes were between Chase and her sisters and her dad. The family dynamic between the Kinkades is lovely and honest.

I couldn’t flip the pages fast enough to see just how things turned out for Chase and Gunner in the end. And I am thrilled there’s a fifth book planned for Finn. Will be fun to see just who puts the man on his butt in the love department. ~ Missy, 5 stars

Full review to come but wow. Just wow. Gunner is beyond-words-amazing. The angst is there, the heartbreak and dealing with scars, past pain, and trying to find hope. Gunner and Chase have a deep understanding for one another and to see them just *know* when the other needs them to just support or to say something is truly beautiful.

~

Hard to Lose is the least “sports romance” of the series and our hero is a former baseball star turned military man. I buddy read this with @booksandbubbs and she can attest to how many times I said I loved Gunner. It was a lot. I just couldn’t get enough of him, he was sweet, charming, caring, working through some of the trauma being in the military can cause and still trying to give back to those who need help. The woo-ing was so fun and I loved to see the charm of the military town too.

Chase is strong, determined, and very goal-oriented. She decides to take a small break from her normal schedule to find a man who wrote a letter to KSM 5 years ago. She ends up meeting Gunner and fudging the details on why she’s there only to fall completely in love with him (which is impossible not to do).

There are so many things to love about this story I can’t even name them all. The ending did feel a little rushed to me but it didn’t overshadow any of the love I have for this book and couple. Chase and Gunner just fit. They understand each other so well in such a short time and that connection is just so strong neither can deny their feelings.

Thank you to @valentine_pr_ for the ARC

5 STARS

I was absolutely swept away by this story. Chase and Gunner’s romance captivated my heart.

To be honest, I do not generally love a military romance / military hero. It is just isn’t my go-to, but I loved Gunner. The man he is in this book was just swoon-worthy, and his broken past only served to make him more endearing. He is one of my favorite characters of the series.

Like the previous heroines of this series, I love that Chase is a female sports agent, someone making her way in a male dominated sport. I loved her her heart and the way she came alive with Gunner.

The story was especially romantic. I lived for their moments, as they both brought each other to life. The narrators did a fantastic job with the narration and really making me feel these moments with them.

With each standalone in this series, I fall more in love with this family and this world. It’s everything a romance should be!

I haven’t read the previous books in this series, but this definitely can be read as a stand alone. Unfortunately, this was a miss for me. It was well written and I loved the hero, Gunner, but the heroine and the conflict totally ruined this. I did not enjoy reading this and kept putting it off. As someone who lost a parent, you would think I would be able to connect with Chase, but her character was so abrasive and she really rubbed me the wrong way. I also couldn’t stand the conflict. I just kept waiting for the ball to drop. If it were anything else, I would have put aside my feelings towards the heroine and given this a higher rating.

I loved Gunner and his scenes at the volunteer center broke my heart! I don’t blame him one bit for how he reacted towards Chase when all was revealed.

This book may have been a miss but I will for sure be reading the others in this series.

I actually thought this is going to be the last book in this series, so it was a bittersweet feeling reading it , imagine my surprise when the author announces at the end that she cannot say goodbye to this series without one las character having his hea {Finn Sanderson} 🤩🤞.

Although this book doesn’t put accent on “sports” as much as the previous ones do , it still can be considered sports romance , Gunner having the opportunity to be a great pitcher.

I really enjoyed this book, Chase and Gunner’s story was full of emotion and swoon moments. Although I love me an alpha possessive male, from time to time a man like Gunner [a marshmallow man] sweet, gentle, funny and caring is exactly what I need. So, one letter lost in transit, one mistaken identity and one dance in the rain later we get their emotional journey. Gunner is dealing with survivor guilt , Chase has hidden the pain caused by her mom’s death behind her work. Together they can heal and make eachother happy.

One character that I love is Mr. Kincade. He raised 4 girls on his own, he has to listen to their “girls talk” and problems and then always has the perfect advices and words for them.

Awesome series!!

***5 "FUBAR!!!" stars***

OUT NOW!!!

"Love isn't something you set out to achieve.
It's something that happens unexpectedly."

Is it possible for every addition in the "Play Hard" series to be even better than the previous one???
Yes, it really is.
I love so much K. Bromberg's writing. Every book of hers had depth and it's filling me with so much emotion that it makes it impossibly hard to let go of these characters and their stories.
If you haven't tried this series yet, you have to fix it immediately.
These books are sports romances at their finest and everyone has to experience them...

"The best relationships are the ones you never saw coming."

It had finally come Chase's turn to shine, the youngest of the Kincade bunch.
Chase is a woman driven by ambition. She just wants to succeed in more and more things among of her sisters who lately had been sidetracked by men. She doesn't need a man in order to be on the top. After all, their plan had started with a man that hurt her in the past...
What she doesn't expect is to receive a long lost letter from a soldier who used to be a baseball player in his youth and her interest is picking up...

"Maybe I'm curious about this man who's close to me in age and who felt so strongly about his duty that he gave up his dream to fullfill it."

Now, she wants desperately to find that man for an unknown reason, but with the explanation that he will bring a good press to their agency....
So, she is going into a netflix town who is called "Destiny Falls' in order to succeed another of her goals.
What she isn't expecting was love to knock into her door in the form of an ex military barman... and the lies that she has told him might be able destroy everything that is happening between them...

"I hate myself for deceiving him, and I hate myself even more for not allowing this to be anything more than it is."

Gunner's life changed the day that he was forced to let go of his dream and join army.
He used to be a wild kid, and with a good reason, but life was cruel with him.
Baseball was his only refugee, but he had to bury it in order to survive in a war that wasn't his to fight.
Nowadays, he is running a bar dedicated to his fallen brothers and he is exhausting himself doing amazing thing for the others in order for the nightmare and the survivor guilt to stay at bay...
What he isn't expecting is for Chase Kincade to get into his bar and turn his life upside down.

"The woman is fucking incredible. Does she know that? See that? Does she have any idea that she is knocking me on my ass just as surprisingly too?"

OMG!!! How I loved this couple!!! It might be my most favorite in this series. Or maybe not! LOL!!!
This couple was slightly different than the previous three.
Gunner wasn't an athlete anymore and he had a heavy load upon his shoulder. His past was hunting him... But he was a true hero, not only on war, but in life as well... The life he was doing was touching a sensitive chorde inside my heart. He was an amazing creature and he deserved the world. I was so sad that he had to let go baseball. I really was. But i think he had found his purpose in this earth and he was amazing in what he was doing...

"I've been advised to let old dreams go. To accept that life has changed forever."

Chase was driven by ambition, but it took a change of scenery to realize that there were more in this life than your ambition.
A small town, a handful of kids and a tortured man made her discover her true self. A woman that was still hurting by her mother's loss and a woman that was needing love to be happy.
Yep, she had lied, but I can totally understand how she let a little sparkle of lie to become a wild fire... But in Destine Falls, with a fascinating man by her side, she realized the meaning of life and it was so wonderful to witness something like that.

"Sometimes it's easier to be who you really are when you step outside of your daily grind and everything there holding you in its normal place."

I loved Gunner and Chase, as I loved and all the previous Kincade sisters and their men...
And when I've read at the end that the author is about to write a book about Finn, I was over the moon... Yeah, I know. He is the bad man in here, but still, I'm very intrigued by him...
So bring it on, Kritsty!!!

"You live in a black and white world, sweetie. It's okay to fight for the one who adds color to it."

I know we are not supposed to have favourites but...
THIS IS MY FAVOURITE!

K. Bromberg writes so beautifully & with such insight into the most harrowing of circumstances.

I have loved reading every story about the Kincade's sisters, but Chase and Gunner was everything!

Chase's sisters have all find the love of their life and now they have nothing better to do then getting involved in Chase’s business. They are all adamant that she should date more…

Their father, Kenyon Kincade wants more for their company and after a heart to heart with Chase, she makes her mission to find the one that got away… the one whose letter she cannot stop thinking about- Ryan aka Gunner.
Ryan gave up his baseball career and enrolled in the military… but why?

Hard To Lose was gripping from start to finish. Not only is KB a terrific storyteller, but she also has the gift of making you care about all characters – even Finn.

As always, you think you have worked out the story, worked out the twists and the lies, but something that KB has mastered beautifully is the art of the unanticipated turn of events, the curveball. Chase and Gunner’s attraction is genuine but secret and lies might ruin it all…

I loved this book… the whole series. It has, for me, everything that makes a good story excellent: delightful protagonists and equally delightful love trying to overcome obstacles.

I cannot wait to read Finn’s story!

All those who have read the previous stories that come out of the pen of this remarkably talented author, I believe were more than eager to read the story of Chase Kincade, which was next in K. Bromberg's Play Hard series. And trust me, you will not be disappointed. I loved the emotions that were simply dripping from the pages….
Covered truths, unspoken opinions, deceit..... the beginning is not great, but behind every lie there is a truth that brings both joy and pain. How long can it last? What will happen when all the unspoken truths and deceit become a harsh reality? Can his heart forgive and forget the deceit, when forgiveness is so hard, but the reward so appealing? Will Chase and Gunner be able to find their happy eve after?
Like her sisters, whose stories have been told in previous books, Chase is a female sports agent, someone making her way into a male dominated sport. A talented and brave woman, who is not afraid to reach for what she wants. Beautiful, determined and persistent, but still fragile at the same time, Chase is a character that manages to steal our hearts. After reading the description, I somehow thought that the hero would not be my cup of tea. A military person is not my ideal choice for a superhero, but believe me he has exceeded all my expectations. His sensitivity and words put him on a par with my favorite literary boyfriends/lovers. Romantic, sweet and thoughtful, he is everything a woman needs, not to mention sexy as a sin. And his broken aspect brought even more appeal to his character. I believe that this author never fails to build characters who manage to make us feel and root for them. The connection and chemistry between them is more than apparent, from the very beginning. With snarky banter, almost plausible tension and scorching moments, I loved every single page in this book.
And K. Bromberg's writing style is a real perfection, a real explosion of drama and description expressed through a perfectly complemented narration of the two main characters. Excellent balance of details and descriptions, and with every word and perfectly fitted sentence, you can simply visualize and feel all the perfectly captured scenes and emotions.
If you are looking for a truly emotional story, filled with the perfect mix of tension and passion, then you should definitely not miss the story of Chase and Gunner.

5 star review Hard to Lose (Play Hard #4) by K.Bromberg
Having read the previous books in this series I couldn’t wait to read to Hard to Lose. I was riveted to the story Ms.Bromberg wove, from the first to the last chapter about Chase Kincade and Gunner (Ryan) Camden.
This book ticked all the boxes for me and I fell hard and fast for Gunner. When a letter from a soldier falls into Chase’s hands she feels an instant connection and decides to pursue it. Meeting Gunner under false pretense, Chase is shocked as she develops feelings for him.
The chemistry and attraction between them is hot and intense and is impossible to ignore. Unfortunately for Chase, the one thing Gunner cannot tolerate is deceit and once he learns that their blossoming relationship is based on a lie, all will be destroyed. Can Chase convince Gunner to give her another chance?
I loved this book, it brought out so many emotions and has angst, heat, passion and characters who are easy to engage with and who you cannot help but become invested in.

K. Bromberg continues her “Play Hard” series with Hard To Lose, the story of sports agent Chase Kinkade and veteran Ryan Camden who had once aspired to play in the MLB.

Even though baseball had been his sanctuary, Gunner Camden the soldier had to give up on it. And after surviving his deployment he settled into his life as a bar owner and volunteer until the most confident woman he’s ever seen walks into his bar like a breath of fresh air and sunlight, tilting his world on its axis.

After receiving a five-year-old thank you letter addressed to her father, Chase can’t stop thinking about the man who wrote it. Under the pretense of finding the vet for publicity purposes she goes to the small military town telling folks she a graduate student.

She never imagined the sexy bartender she caught feelings for would turn out to be the very man she was looking for. And after getting to know him and the fact that lies are a deal breaker for him, how can she possible admit the truth? But without revealing it, how can they possibly have a future?

I had never read a book by K. Bromberg and I hope I never skip one from here on out. I loved this story. Both Chase and Gunner are charming. Chase is smart, confident and sassy and I loved her forwardness. Gunner is not just HOT, he’s also incredibly caring, nice, giving, a true hero and possible too good to be true.

I ached for Gunner and I loved how Chase helped him start living his life without regrets. I cheered for them from the very beginning. I smiled, blushed, swooned and fanned myself. They were perfect together and the only reason their story doesn’t get a perfect 5 stars is because I felt the resolution to their conflict was a bit too easy.

Hard to Lose is book #4 of the Play Hard series by K. Bromberg. Told from several both POV with TWO deliciously swoon epilogues. Genre: Contemporary Romance Military romance | Sports Romance

K. Bromberg always make me feel every single emotion so deep in my heart. Hard To Lose was no exception. This poignant and alluring sports romance has burrowed into my soul and I am emotionally wrecked. My heart is overflowing. My soul in romance heaven. Pure perfection and brilliance from K. Bromberg.

This story is a mix of sports romance, military romance and small town romance. Sounds fascinating, right? Chase Kincade is fully immersed in work for her father's sports management agency. She doesn't have time for relationships. Then a long lost later from Afghanistan, written by an army man reaches her table. Ryan Camden was a rising baseball star and Chase doesn't understand why he didn't chase his dreams. But she thinks this is a chance for their agency to do something special for attention and she is determined to find Ryan. The pursuit takes her to a quaint military town, Destiny Falls. And there she meets charming, gorgeous, kind and genuine Gunner. Owner of local bar and ex-military. They feel an immediate attraction and they have this undeniable connection. But what will happen when Chase's secret comes out and she faces a big truth?

So Gunner is the kind of man who will charm you at first look. He is insanely sexy and pantymelting hot. But his biggest sex appeal is his ocean like heart. Military life has left deep scars not only on his body, but in his mind too. He fights survivor's guilt every day and tries his best to give back to his brothers and their families. He pushes himself hard to forget the dark past, the injustice he faced in early life, his broken dreams and all the demons. But he is still the most kind hearted and loyal and absolutely swoonworthy man ever. Chase has built this barrier around her heart. She never let anyone in. But in this beautiful small town and with this exceptional man, her defenses are down and she realises there is so much more in life than running away from her issues by drowning herself in work. She is such a smart, fierce and independent woman. Total boss lady. But she has a vulnerable side that makes her relatable. They have an insane chemistry. Inflammable and sparks flew just after few looks and touch. But the real beauty was in their heartfelt emotions. They made each other better in every way. The emotions were killing me slowly and the hard earned happily ever after was the sweetest.

K. Bromberg delivers a swoony and heartaching romance in Hard To Lose. I am absolutely in love and lust with this story. So much awesomeness wrapped in spectacular writing of K. Bromberg.

This is an honest review for an arc received.

“Love isn’t something you set out to achieve. It’s something that happens unexpectedly.”

Chase Kincade is the youngest of the Kincade sisters. While all of her other sisters are in love and having children, these things are the furthest from Chase’s mind. When a letter written to her father, that has been lost in the mail for 5 years, crosses her desk, Chase is determined to find out who Ryan Camden is. The letter emits feelings Chase can’t explain. She needs to know what has happened to him. Challenged by her sister to find a cause she is determined to find Ryan Camden. What she never expects is to find a quaint military town, and a hot bartender that she can’t stop thinking about. There she meets hot bartender Gunner. Chase can’t deny the feelings Gunner brings out in her, but she knows that their time together has an end date. But can a little white lie destroy something Chase didn’t even know she wanted?

“After I’m done with you, Chase, I assure you that kissing will never seem overrated again.”

Ryan “Gunner” Camden is a war hero and bar owner. He’s just trying to put back the pieces of his life after returning home from his deployment. When a fellow soldier tells him to write a letter, he does just that, to Kenyon Kincade, Chase’s father. After returning home from deployment, Gunner volunteers his time with children who’ve lost a parent while serving. He still uses baseball as his therapy. He was never expecting Chase Kincade to waltz into his bar with her confidence and sassy banter. He’s drawn to her in a way he’s never been drawn to anyone. He doesn’t do relationships, however Chase makes him want for more. His deal breaker is deception. Will this be the deal breaker between him and Chase?

“Because from here on out, every time it rains, you’ll stop and think of me.”

5 million swoon worthy stars!!! K. Bromberg slayed my heart with this story. The emotions that she draws out of you. You can’t help but root for Ryan and Chase. The connection and chemistry these two immediately have with one another is undeniable. Their banter, wittiness, and tension is off the charts. You can’t help but cheer on Ryan and everything this man has been through and seen. I loved seeing Chase come into her own, and finally find what her sister’s have. These two are perfect for each other. This is my favorite book of the series and that is saying something, since I love them all. Well done Mrs. Bromberg!! This is a must read!!

“That somehow, our two broken and jagged halves made one incredible whole.”

It's time to get to know the story of Chase, the youngest of the Kinkade sisters. In Hard To Lose, the fourth and final book in the Play Hard series brings a captivating, light and romantic story that won me right on the front pages.

Chase, is the youngest of the family, a strong, independent woman, focused on her career and who doesn't have time for a serious relationship. When she finds a letter that was written by a veteran and arrived at her agency 5 years later she feels the need to look for this man, to say that in the past her agency was interested in recruiting him and she also sees it as an opportunity to improve. marketing your business. Gunner, or rather Ryan is a veteran that one sees had the dream of becoming a professional in the sport, but due to circumstances in his life he ended up joining the army and that changed him forever.

The relationship of these two is complicated, full of lies that end up getting more complicated as the relationship of these two evolves. As he read, he wanted to get into the book and beat Chase for some of her decisions, despite understanding her. I liked how light their relationship was, and how the evolution of their feelings ended up creating a pure relationship with a strong connection, despite the fact that they had only known each other for a short time.

Hard To Lose brings a romantic, sweet and emotional story and was a great addition to this incredible series .

Okay, so Gunner is my absolute FAVE!!!!

I've said this about every hero this series has given us but this time, I mean it!

Full of emotion this book pulls at your heartstrings and really makes you stop and think.

Chase as the youngest has seen all of her siblings find love and knew that it wouldn't happen the same for her - she has goals and wants to reach them.

Gunner is overloaded with emotions from his past. From his childhood to his time serving in the military - anger, guilt, sadness. He lives his life now to do his best by everyone affected.

The two of these together showed an instant connection despite the secrets and reasons behind them and I loved their chemistry together. Gunner on the outside is so easy going and personable and he thrives off of Chase's confidence and strong-willed spirit.

This story - and series - will go down as one of my ultimate favourites of K Bromberg's. She has brought her A-game with these sisters.

Roll on book 5, though!!!
