Genevieve was born and raised on the beautiful island of St. Croix, Virgin Islands (U.S.). She was raised for most of her
life by her grandmother, Genevieve Browne, a retired educator, who is from the island of Antigua who moved to St. Croix here
with her mother and Genevieve’s great-grandmother, Mathilda Malone, as a teenager. Genevieve is the granddaughter of
Wesley Browne, Sr., also from the island of Antigua who made St. Croix his home forming St. Croix Construction company.
Genevieve was also raised by her mother Sharon Gonzalez who also from St. Croix and step-father, Heriberto Gonzalez,
spending some of her formative years in the State of Maryland. Genevieve’s grandmother and family circle inspired her
activism and passion for humanity from a young age. Genevieve is also the mother of a nine-year old boy, named Yiore. She
returned to her beloved home right after graduating from law school with the desire and zeal to contribute to her homeland.
She has served in various capacities in the government, private and nonprofit sectors. She is an internationally recognized
speaker on political rights, specifically an advocate for the decolonization of the Virgin Islands (U.S.). She is the former
Secretary and Legal Counsel for the African-Caribbean Reparations & Resettlement Alliance (ACRRA). Genevieve is the Co-
Founder of the Virgin Islands Youth Advocacy Coalition, a civics organization dedicated to civic literacy in the Virgin Islands as
well as the matter of decolonization. Currently, her day-to-day job involves serving as an elections official as the St. Croix
district Deputy Supervisor for the Elections System of the Virgin Islands and she was elected in 2016 to serve on the Executive
Committee of the U.S. Elections Assistance Commission Standards Board.

•In October 2017, she was selected among 15,000 applicants from around the world to be one of the 400
attendees to take part in former President Barack Obama and former First Lady Michelle Obama’s
Obama Foundation Inaugural which brought together hundreds of civic leaders from the U.S. and 60 Countries

•Former President Obama featured Genevieve on his Instagram page, highlighting her passion and activism

•In November 2017 she was United Nations NGO delegate to the OHCHR’s 2017 IDPAD Second Regional Meeting,
advocating for advancement of Virgin Islanders’ rights under the U.S. flag in accordance with U.S. and international law
demanding an end to second-class citizenship of Virgin Islanders

•Received Public Service Recognition Award from Stetson University College of Law’s Advocacy Board for her exemplary
service locally and worldwide & Genevieve was one of the three outstanding graduates of the Class of 2007

Genevieve is also the Chief Executive Officer and Owner of The Whitaker Consultant Group, LLC (WCG) a litigation and
legal research, internet marketing, nonprofit advocacy and political management company. Genevieve serves as a part-time
Assistant Professor at the University of the Virgin Islands College of Business teaching a course in Business Law and course in
Elections Participation within the College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences. She has also taught courses in criminal and
juvenile delinquency law, communication, and leadership skills. Genevieve is a seasoned radio personality having led her own
political program under her brand, A Renewal of VI Politics and having produced and served as a host for various local radio
programs. Genevieve further built her capacity in political management through a master’s degree in Political Management
with a concentration in electoral politics from George Washington University’s Graduate School of Political Management.
Genevieve received her law degree from Stetson University College of Law, serving as a Public Service Fellow. She also received
an Executive Education Program Certificate as a 2014 participant of Harvard University Kennedy School of Government’s
“Women and Power: Leadership in a New World” program (she is on track to obtain an Executive Certificate in Public
Leadership this year). In 2013, she participated in the first cohort of Oxford University Said School of Business’ “Women
Transforming Leadership” program for which she received an Executive Education certificate. Genevieve also received
certificates in International Human Rights Law and International Humanitarian Law from the University of Oxford/George
Washington University School of Law and Santa Clara University Law School, respectively. Genevieve received her Bachelor of
Arts degree in Government and World Affairs from The University of Tampa (UT) with Honors Program Distinction (she was
featured in the 2017 UT Journal Spring Issue). Genevieve is a certified SCUBA diver, has a great interest in fashion, particularly
Afro-Chic, and in raw food/ vegan culinary arts. Genevieve has a special love for music and dance, having been trained in
playing the piano and a wide array of dance forms: jazz, ballet, Afro-Caribbean, African, belly dancing, tap dance and salsa.
Genevieve loves spending time with her family, giving back to her community and traveling around the globe.
