Helping Families and Youth at People's Emergency Center
Families and youth experiencing homelessness come to People's Emergency Center with dreams of a brighter future. Join our community in recognizing PEC's 50th anniversary by donating $5, $10, or $50 at the right and leaving a message on our donor wall!

PEC addresses homelessness and poverty in Philadelphia with housing, services, and education resources directed towards families and youth experiencing homelessness and people living in West Philadelphia.

With support from our friends and donors like you, many residents have something special to celebrate —
a first living-wage job, an acceptance letter to college, or a first home of their own. And for residents like Sherri (name changed to protect her privacy), it’s several firsts!

Sherri came to live at PEC with her two-year old daughter, seeking stability and refuge. She found out about the free crisis nursery available at Baring House and enrolled her daughter. She immediately connected with staff and felt confident that her child would be in good hands. The available childcare freed her time so she could focus on learning parenting skills and securing employment through other PEC services. She was filled with pride the day she was accepted into a healthcare program, and then again later when she opened the door to her home. “PEC and YSI gave me hope and helped me when I had nowhere else to turn. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!”

Help PEC support residents throughout their journey, ensuring they have the help needed every step of the way to realize their dreams, by giving today.
