Help fund Hackney Showroom's community programme
We need your help to raise £4,000 to cover the costs of our community programme to reach those most in need.
Hello,
We're Hackney Showroom, an award-winning arts organisation and a grassroots community centre based on Kings Crescent Estate. We work in partnership with the Kings Crescent Tenants Association to create opportunities and support activities for the benefit of everyone who lives here.
These activities are partly funded by grants but we’re still seeking an extra £4,000 to cover our costs. So here’s where we need you!
Anything you can donate will help keep the programme running and free of charge for people who most need it.
Since 2021 we’ve been delivering a year-round FREE cultural community programme for local residents, including a kids' library, baby's soft play, a youth club and a +60 lunch club. Around 150 people are welcomed through our doors every week to be entertained, engaged, fed and watered and feel a sense of belonging.
Our cultural programme has been crucial in reducing loneliness in the over 60s; developing literacy in children; and enriching and supporting the lives of local families.
Since October ‘21…
- 56 people aged +60 have joined our lunch club
- 586 books have been read by 116 local children at our kids library
- 1,080 pieces of homeworks have been supported by the TRA volunteers
- We’ve distributed £5,500 worth of shopping vouchers to Kings Crescent residents in need
- We’ve served 1,192 hot lunches to over 60s
We know that:
- 150 locals come through our doors each week
- 78% of our users are worried about the cost of living
- 65% of our kids library attendees live on a Hackney estate
