Fix Ava’s Heart

I’m Ava’s mum. For nine amazing years I have been her mum. Nearly a year ago we found out she had a hole in her heart. After lots of waiting and eventually paying to see a cardiologist in Birmingham, we now know that her hole is far too big to be closed with keyhole surgery. She will have to have open heart surgery.

The wait for this is over a year. Ava misses a lot of school due to the exhaustion caused by her condition. Some days we struggle to even get her up and out of bed.

she has to rest in the afternoons because she’s so exhausted from the day.

Her education is suffering and she really does need and deserve a good quality of life now.

Ava is the most inquisitive child. Her lovefor history is just astounding. She loves nothing more than to have a good look around a National Trust property. Warwick castle is a yearly outing for us because she’s just so in awe of it! And loves the He ry the 8th statues with his wives!
She refuses girly clothes most of the timeand has developed her very own sense ofstyle!

it’s taken 3+ years to get this diagnosis and a lot of fighting on our part because we knew something was wrong and that her health was deteriorating. The only reason we found out about this is because she was having repeat ear infections (something she is still plagued with) and we fought hard to have her seen. Her exhaustion was ridiculous and at 6, I didn’t think it was right or normal. Thankfully we ended up in front of a very good paediatrician who then diagnosed the heart murmur and ultimately got us in with the first cardiologist.

Ava is a one off.  We tried for a long time to conceive and ended up having ivf . The whole process took years and when she finally arrived, we felt so blessed and on cloud nine! She’s the most caring, sensitive, happy little girl and this is overshadowing her life at the moment. She’s not even frightened of having the surgery, in her  words “ they’re going to make me better”
and that’s why we’re asking for your help

please give whatever you can to help fix my little miracle.

Everything I earn goes into the “heart fund” and I am planning fundraisers at her school and potentially at local vaccination sites (because I book the staff for the sites)
