Roald Dahl's Willy Wonka JR. follows enigmatic candy manufacturer Willy Wonka as he stages a contest by hiding golden tickets in five of his scrumptious candy bars. Whomever comes up with these tickets will win a free tour of the Wonka factory, as well as a lifetime supply of candy. Four of the five winning children are insufferable brats, but the fifth is a likeable young lad named Charlie Bucket, who takes the tour in the company of his equally amiable grandfather. The children must learn to follow Mr. Wonka's rules in the factory — or suffer the consequences.

Join us at the Hawk for a showcase of some of the region's best young talent in four orchestras of students grades 2-12 ranging from advanced beginning strings to the DMYS flagship full Symphony Orchestra. Join us as DMYS kicks off their inaugural season at the Hawk!

Detroit Sound Conservancy presents a celebration of Heaven, the legendary gay Detroit nightclub that inspired a generation of Black LGBT youth in the heart of Detroit. Club Heaven was beloved by dancers and DJs for its one-of-a-kind sound crafted by renowned DJ Ken Collier and amplified through the space by a custom hand-built sound system. As part of our mission to preserve and amplify the history of Detroit’s musical heritage, DSC is proud to present this night featuring stories shared by Club Heaven’s community followed by a tribute to the music of Heaven.

Bassist, composer and bandleader Dave Sharp leads the WORLDS QUARTET to explore music traditions from Turkey, Egypt, Ukraine, India, Bulgaria and Greece. Recognized in the Jazz Times 2010 Critic’s Poll, the DAVE SHARP WORLDS QUARTET masterfully blends rhythms, sounds, and textures from across the globe with world music inspired original compositions (Desert Sky-The Seventh Secret.) Featuring oud, violin, electric bass, synthesizer and world percussion, the WORLDS QUARTET is fueled by the spirit of jazz, world music and dynamic exploratory improvisation.
