IPP: Wild Virginia/Internship

Internship and Organization Description:

Wild Virginia hosts interns each semester (including summer semester) through the UVA Internship Placement Program.

In the Communications Department, this experience includes opportunities to create and implement new educational and promotional materials and programs such as; designing and writing for our newsletter, evaluating, editing, and updating the website, and promoting Wild Virginia's mission utilizing social media. It will also give the intern the experience of contacting local news and radio groups to provide PSA's from Wild Virginia and gain advertisement opportunities for events.

In the Administrative Department, the intern will gain experience in basic administrative duties such as; database entry including integration and migration of data, answering the phone, retrieving mail/e-mail and responding to inquiries, and attending committee meetings and minutes taking. 
In the development department, the intern would gain experience in researching grants, and assist with bi-annual appeal mailings, assisting in creating outreach opportunities with local youth, and event planning for and/or attending trainings and outings. The intern would also get the opportunity to take photos at events and outings which would be used for materials promoting Wild Virginia.

In the Volunteer Coordination Department, the intern will gain experience working with volunteers at outreach events, tabling at festivals and at the downtown mall, and event planning for the annual volunteer celebration.
