Frisco Dentist Gives Answers to Invisalign FAQs

Despite their how popular Invisalign is, some of you still come to us with questions & concerns, so we thought we should get to answering some of the most often asked questions surrounding Invisalign treatment that we receive from our totally awesome Denton & Collin County dental patients.

Here are some answers that you may not have seen on a television commercial.

What Is Invisalign?

Invisalign is the invisible way to straighten teeth without the often referred to “metal-mouth” syndrome often associated with traditional orthodontic braces.

The Invisalign system uses a series of clear removable aligners (pictured at right) that straighten teeth without the unsightly metal brackets, or wires of train track looking teeth.

Invisalign technology has been proven effective in clinical research and in dental practices worldwide.

How Does Invisalign Work?

Patients receiving Invisalign treatment wear each set of clear aligners for about 2 weeks, removing them only to eat, drink, brush, and floss.

As one of Frisco’s Premier Invisalign providers, when Dr. Alapati replaces each aligner with the next one in the series, your teeth will move little by little, week by week, until they have straightened to the final position prescribed.

Patients undergoing Invisalign treatment visit our our office about once every 6 weeks to ensure that everything is going as planned.

Typically, the entire treatment time averages about 9-15 months, with the average number of aligners worn during treatment between 18 and 30, but both will vary on an individual patient basis.

Are My Teeth Too Crooked For Invisalign To Work?

Luckily, at the New Smiles Dental Excellence of Frisco dental office of Dr. Alapati, we first take the time together with the patient to develop a realistic plan and time frame in which to accomplish the goals of a straighter, more self-confident smile for all of our Invisalign patients.

This is often when the most questions arise, and that’s a good thing!

A vast majority of adults and adolescents can be treated with Invisalign® & Invisalign Teen® – a specifically designed set of treatment protocols and aligners just for adolescents.
