Accessible Transportation for Kagley-Snider Family

Donation protected
The Kagley-Sniders have been foster and/or adoptive parents to over 60 kids. They welcomed  Ethan into their hearts and home 16 years ago as a one-year old. Ethan was a drug-addicted pre-term baby with serious health complications but the Kagley-Snider family has provided him with the best possible care and  want to continue doing so for life. Among Ethan's physical/health situations he is confined to a wheelchair due to CP, has a feeding tube, and is deaf-blind. At 17 years old and over 100 pounds he is past the point of being safely manipulated from his chair to a car or truck. The family is in dire need of a van with sliding doors and an accessibility lift so they can continue to include Ethan in family activities and to transport him to his many doctor's appointments. While they have become pros at utilizing federal and state support systems to care for Ethan, the family has struck out with help for appropriate transportation. They are forced to buy a vehicle with a lift on their own, but even used lift options add a mininum of $10-15k to the price of a van, almost doubling the price of the vehicle. Financing a lift and a van is a hardship for this family as they have 4 other children and a single income so that one parent is home to provide 24 hour care for Ethan. It would be amazing if we could could provide funds to meet this need for this deserving family.

Anyone who knows this family knows how hard they work to help others - now it's our turn to give something back to them! Anna recently discovered (locally!) a used Toyota van WITH a Mobility Access Lift for Ethan!

While the vehicle is exactly what the family needs at this time, the payments certainly aren't - even as a used vehicle, this van will cost over $25,000. With Ethan heading to Children's Hospital for another surgery at the beginning of 2019 it's absolutely crucial that they have a way to safely transport him along with the rest of the family.

I don't want to share too much of the family's personal info but I think it's important to include a few more details. Anna's federal government job provides the sole income for the family, which is already a tough situation - the complicating factor at this time is the partial government shutdown, which puts Anna on furlough and leaves the family without any paychecks. Add to that other family medical needs as well as regular living costs and it's easy to see how this van is just too much of a financial stretch at this time.

If you're able to contribute financially it would make such a difference in the lives of this amazing family! Even if you're not able to contribute at this time, you can help this effort by sharing this fundraising page widely, as well as sharing stories and pictures of the wonderful Kagley-Snider clan. Thank you so much for reading and helping, however you're able. Please reach out to me if you have any questions!
