Steamy Bully romance with a dangerous twist!

Absolutely Fantastic book! It has the rich bullies, the nice girl, the intrigue, suspense and danger and to top it off a steamy romance. I loved every minute and could not put it down. I also can’t wait for more. “The Four” are the four richest and sexiest men on campus. Their families pretty much own the nearby town and do business all over the world as well and The Four are the top men on campus at Alstone college.

Winter Huntington has switched colleges before her sophomore year in order to spend time with the mother who left her at five years old. Her father died a year ago in a house explosion due to a gas leak, but Winter doesn’t believe it was an accident and is determined to get to the bottom of it. Prior to his death, Winter’s father had traveled to the town of Alstone a few times to see her mother and had started acting strangely immediately after.

Winter attends a party at the home of The Four after arriving at campus. Two of the Four happen to be her stepbrothers that she has never met. At the party all of the Four guys look at her with suspicion and hate, though she doesn’t know why. Especially the leader and hottest guy, her stepbrother Caiden Cavendish. Winter is attracted to Caiden from the start, but he shows nothing but contempt for her.

After having dinner with the her Mother, stepfather and two stepbrothers, Caiden and Weston, Winter sees that there is no love lost between her mother and stepbrothers. She finds that Weston doesn’t seem to have the animosity towards her that Caiden does. She also has a class with another member of The Four named Cassius and finds him to be much friendlier than Caiden and Zayde, who are still suspicious of her.

I don’t want to go too much into the plot, but it is interesting and combines the romance between Winter and Caiden with the intrigue surrounding her Mother and her Fathers death as well as Winter becoming friends with the four guys. The romance is hot, the guys are terrific characters and there is a huge cliffhanger at the end.

I can’t wait to read the next book. I really want to read more about Zayde as well. He is described as extremely hot and one of the scariest guys Winter and her roommate have ever met. Winter says he has serial killer eyes. That is just the kind of guy I am interested in reading about.

I voluntarily read & reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts & opinions are my own.

Was there even a question of if you would see a review from me for The Lies We Tell? I had never read anything from this author before, but when this book was brought to my attention, there was no way I could pass it up! The blurb practically screams my name!

A group of hot, rich guys known as The Four that rule the school (college) attempt to make Winter's life hell for reasons unbeknownst to her. They warn her, insult her, key her car, and follow her around wherever she goes, but it's not long before she discovers that not all of The Four have such strong animosity towards her. Some of them even seem to kind of like her.

Caiden Cavendish isn't one of them. He hates every breath she takes, and he has his reasons. Winter doesn't understand his hatred any more than she understands her insane attraction to him. They have intense chemistry that's undeniable, and you know how the saying goes. There's a thin line between love and hate.

Becca Steele did such a great job with The Four! Each member has such a distinct personality that you will have no problem distinguishing one from the other. You won't have any trouble falling in love with any of them either.

Caiden may be a bit of an asshole, but he always has his loved ones well being in mind.  Underneath his hardened alpha male exterior lies a big soft heart. It makes you just want to kick him in the dick and then hug the fuck out of him! The fact that he's gorgeous and sculpted like a greek god doesn't hurt anything either.

Weston is the youngest of the group and Caiden's younger brother. He's a tech genius that the guys couldn't live without. Their whole operation depends on his skill. He's the most welcoming to Winter in the beginning, and they form an adorable brother/sister relationship almost from the start.

Cassius is like a big, hot, manwhore, teddy bear. He's the comic relief in the story for sure. Despite his slutty ways, he's by far the most endearing of the four. I loved the way he was with Winter throughout the story, and I can't wait to see the right woman tame his horny little ass.

Zayde is the most mysterious of the group. He's the definition of a bad boy with his tattoos, motorcycle, and danger practically radiating off of him. He doesn't say much, but when he does, everyone pays attention. If you're anything like me, he will have you intrigued from the second he's introduced.

The loyalty these men have for one another, and the bond they share is everything. They are the number one reason you need to read this book! Hands down! Sure, there is mystery, suspense, violence, and possibly murder, but these guys are THE BEST THING about this book.

I can't conclude my review without saying a little something about Winter. I gushed over the guys, so it only seems right. Lol Winter is a character that I sympathized with right away. Losing your father in such a horrific and sudden way is bad enough, but knowing your mother (that basically abandoned you) probably had something to do with it is next level awful. She may have needed to be slapped in the head a couple of times, but overall, she's a tough cookie that is ready to go to the ends of the earth to get justice for her dad, and that makes her pretty fucking awesome in my book.

In case you can't tell, The Lies We Tell by Becca Steele was a hit for me! If you're a bully romance or academy fan, there is no way you should pass this one up! The characters are amazing, and the story is intriguing and full of steam and action with a big cliffhanger cherry on top. Put it on your tbr asap!

lies

'THE LIES WE TELL' is the first full length romance book by new to me author Becca Steele's 'The Four' series. Spoken in 'Dual Perspectives.'

Bloody Instagram!! This bloody book right here has been boomeranging all over my IG feed!!
So of course I had to bloody oneclick it!! I blame it all on that lickable cover too!!

I really enjoyed this one, holy hotness!! In this we get not one but FOUR hot boys (Caiden, Zayde, Cassius and Weston) who reign over Alstone College!! The untouchable Kings!! I was in my happy place!! Eeny, Meeny, Miny, Mo, King Asshole Caiden was MINE!! F#ck it all Zayde's MINE too!!

Cassius, Weston, Zayde and Caiden. They're all sexy as f#ck, and they know it. Spoiled rich boys who think they're above everyone else.

These boys have had an unbreakable bond since the age of fourteen when they first became known as 'the four.'

As soon as they clap eyes on Winter.. Game on.. They attempt to make her life living hell. From barbed warnings, to shadowing her every move, to keying her car and add in the fact that Caiden doesn't disguise that he hates her with a vengeance makes for an unputdownable read..

Each of these hot as hell boys held their own in this book, our leader Caiden with his ass-hole alpha personality, Weston is our tech savvy guru and can break into any database. Zayde is the edgy dangerous one of the group, all dark and broody. Cassius is the happy go lucky one.

Winter Huntington doesn't know what she's up against when it comes to these four boys and doesn't understand why she has a target on her back, she's only just recently transferred to Alstone College (a specialist business school) due to losing her father in a questionable accident which she's investigating. Prior to his death, her father had traveled to the town of Alstone a few times to see her mother and upon his return home his behaviour was out of the norm.

Hence why Winter put in a transfer to Alstone. She wants to reconnect with her mother and get some much needed answers to her questions. Her mother left her when she was five years old and has since remarried to an influential wealthy man, he has two sons Caiden and Weston, making them Winter's step-brothers.

Twists and turns, hot steamy moments, throw in some romance and this book ticked a lot of my boxes, the only box it didn't tick was the bloody cliffy I found myself falling over..

"Eeny, Meeny, Miny, Mo, The Four are coming for you, Snow.”

'The Lies We Tell' is the first book in 'The Four' series by Becca Steele.

This is a college, step-brother romance with so many so many twists and turns that is all a part of a big game! I mean I even considered skipping writing this review and starting the next book... but, here we are!

Okay, so, I know I've read the first book in this series before so the cliff-hanger shouldn't bother me so much, but it does cuz I don't remember the story, like at all!

ME2:

Anyways, in this book we meet 'the four' (Caiden, Zayde, Weston, Cassius) and Winter or snowflake, as they call her.

The Four:

Caiden, the alpha: He is the hot step-brother, who is all broody and can't make up his mind about snowflake.

Weston, the brains: He is the youngest of them all and is also Caiden's brother. He is the brains of the operations and surprised the hell out of me at times!

Cassius, the fun/outgoing guy: He is charming, in a 'Prince Charming' kinda way, but don't let his appearance fool you cuz he can be menacing when he wanted to be.

Zayde, the bad boy: Zayde, oh Z, what can I say? With your motorcycle and tattoos, you even had my kindle melting. He gives off major serial killer vibes but I suspect he has a big heart under the hard exterior.

❖❖❖❖❖

Then there is Winter, she comes to live with her Mom, and her new husband after her Dad dies. The guys think she's her mother's daughter and is going to cause trouble so they start bullying and threatening but are surprised to find out that Winter suspects her mom to be behind her dad's mother and is here to investigate.

Becca Steele is an amazing author and had me on the edge of my seat, waiting for the next bomb to drop! Needless to say, I'm gonna go run and pick up the next book as soon as I'm done with this review, and I honestly can't wait to find out where this story takes us!

Nope

The heroine gets to the new school, and I believe that same night, goes to a party. She flirts with the first random guy who pays her any attention. Doesn’t know him from anyone, and didn’t even seem attracted to him. She has these weird feeling for the “hero” of the story from meeting his eyes earlier but when she runs into him at the party she and the author decide to make this book nose dive right off of a cliff. Instead of starting the story here, she walks away from the books “hero” and leaves with the random guy to go to his place (let’s forget for a minute how incredible stupid that is since he could be garden-variety psycho I guess) and she screws him. No alcohol, drugs, etc. She’s just that much of a hoebag. A few pages in and she’s screwing other guys... I’m out. I’m not a hypocrite, I don’t love guys who are hos either, and being that I am a woman it really turns my stomach when a woman has absolutely no standards. It makes it impossible for me to read the story let alone enjoy it, if the author makes us “watch” it. She definitely doesn’t need to be a virgin or even inexperienced, but I can’t stand or respect a heroine who doesn’t show that she respects herself at least a little. The weird part was that this wasn’t written sexy or steamy to make you forget and engage in the taboo part. She even didn’t orgasm and seemed ok with that because it was “fun”! The word that came to my head immediately was pathetic. The author wrote the girl as so desperate for a guys attention that she’d screw anyone who looked at her. This was the first chapter of the first book and with the first guy to blink at her for Pete’s sake! I need to figure out how to use my account. I want to add this author to a Do Not Read section, I think I’m good if I don’t read anything by her again.

I’m not sure if it’s because I have read to many bully romance that it’s not annoying me or they just all seem the same. Also I don’t really feel like he bullied her

sprinkling a little drama and hot guys does not make a book. I want a story.

I didn’t like winter or caiden
Didn’t really know enough if I’m honest
he dislikes her on the spot ( same old)

“I know enough,” he said darkly. “And I promise you, right here, right now, that I’m going to do everything I can to make your life miserable. I don’t trust you. I don’t want you here. We don’t want you here. Leave.”

Yup heard this so many times in books it’s getting old.

She thinks he’s hot but going to play hard to get but as soon as he kisses her she’s like a dog on heat then they both regret it ..
You had the usual catty girl comments from their harem of women to winter .. BORE OFF.
Felt like it was just a bunch of words with some added drama into it but not really thought out.

FIVE FORBIDDEN STARS for Winter and Caiden ❤🖤❤🖤!!!

🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

This is the first book that I've read by Becca Steele and I absolutely love it!!!

Always when I start reading a book by a new author to me there is a little fear that maybe I won't like it.

The same was with this book.

But...

Becca totally surprise me and I'm really glad because of that.

I love her writing style.

I also love the storyline. It's simple but very interesting which kept my attention through the whole book.

"The Lies We Tell" is the first book from "The Four" series. It's dark bully, college suspense romance with a forbidden and enemies to lovers tropes.

Winter is a female character who I love from the beginning of the story. She is brave and she will do anything to protect people she loves even if that means putting herself in real danger.

Caiden is a male character you won't fell in love at first but after he shows his true face you will love him.

Winter and Caiden's relationship is forbidden.

Trough the whole book they had a lot of ups and downs.

At first, they hated each other and then they felt attracted to each other, but they fought against it until they eventually fell in love with each other.

Besides them, I also love the other three boys Weston (Caiden's brother), Cassius (my favorite 😍), and Zayde (mysterious guy 🤔).

I hope that all boys will get their own books ❤!

The book ended up with cliffhanger and I can't wait to find out what will happen next 😱😱😱!

If you love reading college and suspense romance, then this book is definitely for you!

Highly recommended!!!

P.S. Cassius is mine 🙃❤🔥!!!

I NEED BOOK 2 RIGHT THIS DAMN MINUTE.

I need answers and I need them now. Ms. Steele sucks you into the intriguing, dangerous, and just plan hot as hell world of The Four and will have you flipping pages until you get to the end only to leave you saying WTF how can that be the end. She's lucky she lives "across the pond" from me because otherwise I'd be standing behind her making her write all the words until I she crafts the next installment of what I can already tell with be one hot AF saga.

This book ticks so many boxes for me and if you like a strong heroine and an alphahole hero who you get to watch fall without him even realizing it and tying in secrets galore this book is for you.

Read this and help me yell at Becca!

Holy Hell! What the fuck? Becca Steele left me speechless. Well that’s a lie she left me needing to yell at her for answers and shout from the roof tops how amazing this book is!

The Lies We Tell is absolutely phenomenal! Becca Steele delivers an amazing book that is sure to be a top read and absolutely sets a high standard for any other reads this year.

Caiden is a sexy as sin, hot as hell alpha who leaves me needing more of him. But all of the four are hot, sexy, and wicked. Winter is a badass h who I couldn’t help but love. She doesn’t let the four intimidate her.

Everything about The Lies We Tell left me needing more and was perfect! Becca Steele stepped out of her comfort zone and delivered a phenomenal book.
From start to finished and even after I was hooked.

I love everything about this book! I needier of Caiden and Winter and the four!

And if the entire book wasn’t enough to have you needing more, that ending! Steele ends the book with a bang, and a cliffhanger that had me yelling at her.

"You may tell the greatest lies and wear a brilliant disguise, but you can't escape the eyes of the one who sees right through you." -Tom Robbins, Villa Incognito

For the record, I was seeing this book all over instagram and i became obsessed before i even known what was all this deal about...
I didn't even care for the blurb!!!! One stare on the cover and i was a goner!!!
And then this book checked out all the boxes for me...
Enemies to lovers? Check.
Stepbrother? Check.
Four hot men? Check and drooling.
A spitfire who's looking for answers? Check.
Secrets, lies, unexpected twists, scary moments, funny moments, steamy moments. Check and check and check.
And a huge motherfucking cliffy? Check, even though unwelcomed. Bahaha...

“Watch your back, Winter. You’re out of your depth, and you don’t know how to swim in these waters.”

Well, Winter is starting a new life in the Alstone College after the tragic death of her father...
She is determined to uncover the mystery around his death and in order to do so, she has to come closer to the woman that abandoned her...
But from the first moment, she is catching the attention of the Four and a weird game is starting between them and especially, with Caiden, the Alpha Asshole of the group...
The Four are having a beef with her for unknown reasons...
These guys and especially Caiden are toying with her all the time... and she can't understand how she can be drown to one of them!!!! And the fact that Caiden and Weston are her stepbrothers doesn't help.

"The best thing to do was to keep my head down and stay focused on my goals. I only had two: find out what had happened to my dad, and get my degree. Then I was getting as far away from Alstone as I could."

"You don't even know anything about me. How dare you make assumptions?"
"I know enough," he said darkly. "And I promise you, right here, right now, that I'm going to do everything I can to make your life miserable. I don't trust you. I don't want you here. We don't want you here. Leave or you will regret it."

Honestly, i don't know what more can i say about this book, other than the Four knew how to captivate everyone around them, including me... Bahahaha...
Yes, they sucked for what they did to Winter, but now, I can understand their reasons why they were acting like that!!!!
Also, there is a huge attraction between Caiden and Winter that either of them can ignore for a long time...
But the secrets around them are dominating their present and they have to work together in order to get in the truth.
Will this thing between them could work???

”Don’t look at me like that.”
”Like what?
”Like you want me to fuck you.”

"One thing straight, Snowflake. This doesn't mean I like you. I don't. Don't expect us to be friends. But the Four will have your back, and we expect you to have ours. Understood?"

Well, I loved Winter very much...
I loved how determined she was to seek out justice for her father...
I loved that she wasn't backing down on the Four's threats...
I loved how well she was fitting with Cade...
And i love her relationship with all of them.

"I could feel the heat of his body and for one moment I forgot where we were and that he hated me. Could he feel it, too? This unwanted, magnetic pull between us?"

"You and Cade -you're fire. A blazing inferno, burning everything in your path."

Kaiden was a big ass in the beginning, but still charming in an angry and dark way.
He had his own demons to fight and Winter was fucking with his mind...
He hated her in his mind, but his heart was craving her.
He was in a constant war with himself in everything that had to do with Winter.
And even though he didn't have the right, he was a possesssive jerk and I loved him!!!! LOL!!!

"My stepmother was poison, her venom infecting our lives, slowly killing what was left of our family."

"My physical reaction made me hate her even more. I could get any woman on cam;pus I wanted with a snap of my fingers, and I fucking hated that my mind had fixated on the one person I despised."

As for the rest of the guys???
Well, i loved each of them for different reasons and I'm dying to read their own stories in the future.
Weston was Caiden's younger brother and he was a sweetheart.... From the first moment, he was the most well-mannered toward Winter. He is also a hightech genius.
Cassius was the most easygoing guy!!! He was a manwhore and the one with the jokes....
He was also the one that was provoking all the time Caiden and it was delicious to witness it!!!
Zayde was mysterious and broody and it seems the most dangerous of them all with shady connections and dark silence... But for a reason, i'm craving him too.

Cassius, Weston, Zayde and Caiden. They're all sexy as f#ck, and they know it. Spoiled rich boys who think they're above everyone else.

The Four had a unique bond between them and they were working as a unit and that was remarkable...
I loved them for many reasons and one of them is how they were treating Winter after...
Nope, i won't say more....
I just need to read the next part on Winter and Caiden's story!!!!

"Somehow, against all odds, we'd gone from enmity and mistrust to friendship and mutual respect."

*************************************************

"That-"
"-shouldn't have happened? Or were you going to say it was a mistake, again? That you don't want me?... Yeah, I know. I know all the lies you tell yourself, that you tell me."

The Lies We Tell is book one in Becca Steele's new series The Four and it is absolutely amazing!!!! Seriously, if I could give it more than 5 Stars I would.

Quick recap - Winter believes her father's death wasn't an accident and goes looking for answers by getting close to her estranged mother. This puts her in the firing line of Caiden, her step brother, who hates her on sight purely because he thinks she is just like her mother who he despises. And then there is The Four, holy hotness you do not want to miss reading about these guys.

The writing is captivating and had me hooked right from the beginning. The characters are all well developed and intriguing, there is not one I didn't like. And it's not just Caiden you end up swooning over, all of The Four are hot as sin with the personalities to match. Winter is everything you could want in a heroine - lovable, badass, strong and doesn't put up with any sh*t.

An enemies-to-lovers romance full of suspense, twists, alluring characters and hot as hell explosive chemistry between Caiden and Winter. And oh my god, the ending 🙀🙀 I did not see it coming at all! My poor heart cannot handle any more cliff hangers 🤣 I NEED the next book NOW!

I cannot recommend this book highly enough, make sure to add it to your TBR list, you will not be disappointed!!

Hi, my name is Christina and I'm addicted to The Four! What? Surely your not surprised! I have a weakness for HOT Fictional characters. We can all thank Becca Steele for supplying us with a few in this book!

We all love sexy guys in our books but my absolute favorite is to have a strong heroine. I want a h that can give as good as she gets, of course I expect there might be some moments of weakness. Winter is a great example of that. She's strong willed, sassy and caring. Determined to find out what happened to her dad, she starts at a new college in a town close to her mom. Feeling alone, with only one friend by her side; she lands herself on The Four's radar right from the start. The Four are the powerful ones on campus; the ones who pretty much rule it all. One of the guys from The Four, Caiden; is determined to get rid of her no matter what it takes. Cassius, Zayde and Weston make up the rest of the group; which I must say they each seem to fulfill a role in the group that makes them a pretty powerful group together. All 4 guys are insanely hot and this is something that does not escape Winter's notice.
Caiden & Winter are addictive. The push and pull is steamy and the connection between these two is powerful, both unable to resist the other yet the hatred is evident.
I loved how this book was active right from the start, not any dull moments. Reluctantly, I had to stop to adult around chapter 3 but when I picked it back up last night I could NOT PUT IT DOWN! I read in bed until around 2 am. No way could I go to sleep until I knew more. I needed all the answers but now most of all... I NEED THE NEXT BOOK!

HO-LY CRAP!!!

Yeah, that's about where my head is right now. I'm struggling to brain enough to be able to write a coherent review. This book had my heart racing the whole way through. If it wasn't from suspense, it was from all of the hotness that is the Four. Can we just talk about the part where they were all in suits for a second? Drool!

Winter is such a sweetheart, and I love how fearless she is in her quest for answers, despite the fear she's obviously feeling. Caiden is such a complicated character, and I loved the way Becca peeled back the layers little by little, showing us who he truly was. And their chemistry was explosive!!! The other three guys (Weston, Cassius, and Zayde) are equally amazing, with such different personalities. I'm campaigning here and now for all of them to get books...after we finish Winter and Caiden's story! Because holy hell, that ending! I NEED MORE NOW, BECCA!!! RIGHT NOW!!! Yes, I said that in big, shouty caps, because I have a love/hate relationship with cliffhangers. I love the suspense of not knowing what will happen, but at the same time, I want to know now!!!

I'm not normally one for enemies-to-lovers or for heroes who are more on the cocky jerk end of the spectrum, but I am SO glad that I took a chance on this book!

I love Becca Steele’s style of writing. The Lies We Tell is very different for her. I was open to trying it, and the fact that I read it in one sitting speaks volumes for me, but speaks higher of the author and the book that I’ve just read. My tell on a book is the length of time between starting to read and finishing.
I don’t like giving away spoilers which makes this so much harder with any book, but for this book there are so many tropes it covers, so many highs and lows, so many twists and turns.
I personally love an enemies to lovers trope. If you don’t just give this a try. Know and understand the reasons behind it. This one certainly doesn’t disappoint.
You go from The Four being absolute dicks to a sweet Winter, to them in time warming and trusting not just the sweet side of Winter but the fire and sass that gets pulled from her. From wanting to whack the four for being such arses to falling for each and every one of them. Well I did, does that make me fickle? Who cares. I want them all. Caide, Weston, Cassius and Zayde . Mine all mine.
How Becca portrays them makes you go from wanting to hit them to internally groaning as things heat up, and it certainly does and then some.
The twists and turns within this book will have your mind tumbling and turning with questions, demanding answers and being left high on anticipation, and then quickly wanting to throttle Ms Steele for leaving you in a quandry, and left hanging high and dry.
Book two can’t come quick enough, followed hopefully in quick succession by the other three’s story. I’m certainly not above begging 😉

Ya know.. it wasn't bad and I'm intrigued to read the next one.

The Lies We Tell is sort of a bully romance but I didn't really think it was. Yeah, they four didn't really like Winter when she walked into her life. Of course, they also had a crap ton of assumptions about her but they never really knew her. The reason I say this is because once they start getting to, they start chipping a way at themselves. It doesn't take long for them to start liking her and eventually developing feelings for her. Whether they are friendly, family, or lovers.

That being said, the romance was really good but I could've gone without the whole hot and cold throughout the book. Especially with the ending of this book.. so I'm not sure what is going to happen in the next one. Which is why I kind of want to dive into it just to see who did what and if they can get Winter back safely.

Other than that, I have so many freaking questions about these freaking parents. Especially her mom because she is so freaking frigid and robotic. Definitely don't like her and wouldn't mind if she randomly disappeared forever. Ya know? In the end, I'm down to read the next book.

The Lies We Tell was a solid 4 star story. I of course enjoyed bullymance but couldn't help but hope that there would be more. The constant back and forth by Caiden and his whiplash was a bit much at times but overall this was a good story! 4 stars! ~Ratula

A Thrilling Step-Siblings College Enemies-to-lovers Romantic Suspense With Mysteries, Comrades & Friendships, Trust, Growing feelings, Initiatives, Dangers & a Gripping Cliffhanger.
This had been on my TBR after Reading 'Trick me Twice' & I enjoyed finally reading this story! (It was fun to See Cass & Lena Which I met in TMT!) DEVOURED it in 6hrs.
[It's Dual POV but we get more from Winter's, Though the times we do get Caiden's PoV had me thoughtful..]

Winter has newly transferred to the Alstone University as a 2nd year Student. To grow closer to her estranged mom &.. Investigate her as the prime suspect in her dad's death. Winter's a kickass FMC, She's Sweet, Smart, Sassy & Goes toe-to-toe when needed. Perfect combo. Not to mention, her dad's an astrophysicist, like omg, I myself love the subject!

Caiden is a 2nd year student in Alstone University, The Bad boy, Part of 'the four' who like Rule the college. Winter's mom had married C's rich dad & is Toxic to Caiden & His Bro Weston, They hate her. The 4 also Suspects that she's doing something illegal. Caiden was assholish & Untrustful to her at Start, but Later we can see that he Feels deeply, so much so that he never truly let's anyone in other than his Boys.

Winter comes to college & Gladly makes friends with her roomie Kinslee (Liked her!). Later, At a Welcome party of sorts Winter see 'the 4' for 1st time (She hadn't met her Stepbrothers before..)
>> Caiden, the Sexy Asshole. Zayde, Quiet & Dangerous. Cassius, The Friendly Flirt. Weston (Who's younger than the above 3 by 1year), Sweet Tech genius.

Caiden hated her at sight, mostly as she looks so much like her mom & he suspects they might be working together. So he deploys the boys to Be with her all the time (normal bully stuff 😅).
Cass becomes her friend almost immediately, she's just so lovable. Soon, with Weston too, more in a Siblings way. But Caiden..Oof, the Sexual tension b/w Winter & him was off-the-charts from the 1st glance. And Zayde's just plain scary, though he cracks some smiles throughout the story too!
I loved that there Wasn't any "Make her life hell" kind of Stuff as Cass & Wes weren't on board & Winter has experienced so much the past year (Her dad's death in a fire).
~I love the nicknames! Caiden calls Winter 'Snowflake' WHILE She sarcastically calls him King or your Highness!

There's Awkward Family Meets, Budding Friendships, Car vandalisms, Fun payback, Rich party, United front, Winter+Caid's Sexy Kiss... By Cass, she finds what the boys suspected. She knew it was Talk time. So they did & They accepted her! Caiden's still an asshole, can't help himself 😂, but more sympathetic. From now on, the 5 worked together for clues against her mom.

But there's Serious push & Pull from Caiden to her. Here the Friends, especially Cass, was such a big help! (*Snicker* That kiss he was talking about in TMT!).
~Jealousy, Playing it dirty, Caid+Winter Sexy times *Hot*, Push & Pull, The Annual games *Omg, Fun!*, Mine, Hotel investigations, Swoony moments, Mommy truths, Growing feelings, Car Repairs, Important News, Emotional Talks, Out in School..
She wants him, lying was futile BUT Caiden was telling a lie to himself & everyone that he doesn't want her. But soon he breaks & makes her mine. Seeing him opening up to her & being PDA is so swoony!

But their Quest for truth is going on & the more we find about her mom, the more I hate her!
And, The last few scenes had me on edge. Everything was going well, until it wasn't. James is a Prick, Winter+Caid's Relationship is in Jeopardy (I'm kinda angry at Caiden here), She found a major clue & investigating it alone at night was a recipe for trouble, Will The boys get to her in time? Cue Cliffhanger!
Omg, I'm so excited to read the next book😍.

The Lies We Tell is Book one in the series The Four.

This book checks all the boxes for a brilliant and exciting slightly dark romance.
•Looking for a hot sexy alpha male ( this book has 4 that will blow your mind!
•Relatable main female character (Winter is a great combination of smart, sassy, bold and uncertain that anyone will want to get to know better).
•Hot sexy romance
•Elements of danger and suspense
• A mystery

The characters are interesting, entertaining, and full of personality. The book is a brilliant mix of several different tropes such as: forbidden step-siblings/bully/enemies to lovers and more. Becca Steele expertly crafted a storyline that leaves you guessing and wanting more! I couldn’t put it down.

This book does end on a cliffhanger but it’s worth the mental pain of waiting for the next book to be released.
I can’t wait to read the rest of the series and solve the mystery.

Eeny, meeny, miny, mo.
The Four are coming for you, Snow.

And commeth they did.

I love Miss Becca's work, but this is a work of art. This story the characters, freaking wow.
Winter is sassy with a mouth on her and a thirst for answers it doesn't matter the cost.
Well, that cost has a name...Caiden. Her new step-brother- her new enemie.

He hates her with a passion. But passion is passion and sparks are flying but he's too stubborn to admit it even when his closest (sexy AF) friends can see the truth.
West, Cade's little brother brings a lot of cute moments to the story his relationship with Winter is adorable and heartwarming. Out of the four his the "nice" one but between us, I think Miss Steele will fuck us over and turn him bad. one can dream.

Then there's Cass and Zayde and oh boy these boys are bad. Hot mean AF but loyal. I can't wait to see how Winter's relationship grows not only with Caiden but with them too.

Soo many secrets and barely any answers Becca told an amazing tale that will make you hunt her down for more.

I am in love with The Four and I need book two NOW.
Bravo Becca, Bravo.

I NEED ANSWERS!!!! And you will too!
This was my first book written by Becca Steele! And what a bombshell of first read!!! I know when it comes to new authors you take a huge chance on it. Because you don't know what to expect from the author and her book. Well Becca's writing is really addictive. It doesn't let you the time to breathe, it keeps you there locked inside her story! ALWAYS surprising you with her next twist! Those are unpredictable, really, you never see it coming. She's a twist's genius!!! She knows how to get under the reader's skin and put a spell on it. Ending up owning it's mind and soul.
What's this book highlight? Except the intriguing storyline? Well, the characters. The main ones and the secondary ones too. They are really good"build". The main characters, Winter and Caiden are incredible. Like firecrackers. There's no a strong & a soft complement to one other. They hate-love one other, but they are also drawn to one other. Until the one become "the frog" to the other. It's our of chats what they have!
And the passionate scenes? Yes they are a few and they are... explosive!!!
I am looking forward for book 2!
And I'm sure, this author will leave me speechless again!

Mind. Blown.

Becca, you have me in total awe! I was hooked from start to finish, I genuinely could not put this book down. The Four, what a total group of hot, dangerous boys...total book boyfriend material. Winter (love the name choice) you are one bad b*tch with a serious level of patience and such a kind heart. King Caiden, I loved the soft sides we saw to you, as well as the brooding sides. Zayde, my man of mystery, I can't wait to find out more about you and that tongue piercing🤭 Cassius, a bit of a player with a super big heart and a mischievous mind and finally the baby of the group, Weston, the best little brother and wingman there ever was. But the ending...I'm not sure if I want to hug you or cry at you Mrs Steele!!!! An absolutely phenomenal read, I adored every single word. Thank you so much for letting me read your book!💖

Off to an amazing start!

Devoured in one sitting. Holy cow, y’all! My heart is pounding and the adrenaline rushing through me would probably be better served with someone that was gonna use it for good, but that’s not the point here.

The Four are HOT. And skeptical of our Winter, but definitely not without good reason.
Winter is on a mission. She’s lost the only parent she had any ties to, and her quest to solve the mystery surrounding his death has led her to her very estranged mother and her new family, including Weston and Caiden.

Cassius is easily the quickest to warm up to, although Weston runs a close second. Something about that Zayde though, he may be my favorite, and it’s because I always like the most offset of them all.

The writing style, the burn, the suspense kept me on edge the whole time.

My first by this author but certainly not my last.

2.5 stars..

Okay well first off, no idea why I stuck with it and read the whole book, but there is no going back in time.

There was several times that I out loud kept saying, "Winter is such an idiot", that my husband was looking at me like a crazy person. Honestly has she never seen Pretty Little Liars or any High School drama on Freeform (aka ABC Family) if you go after mysterious people in the dark thinking you are Nancy Drew and you have some sleuthing abilities that you can catch the killer, when in reality that can either get you taken or killed... I felt like I was reading a Pretty Little Liar episode, but hey I stuck with that show for it's entirety, mainly so I can feel an accomplishment when I found out who "A" was (which I am still salty about that conclusion).

Also I felt like this could have been stronger as a RH, I felt more of a romantic connection with Cassius, and Weston with Winter, heck I even felt more with Zayde than with Caiden sometimes.

There was also so many paragraphs that happened that jumped from one thing to another that I was like, " how on earth did we end up here?". It was very choppy. But for some messed up reason, I am going to continue this series since it ended on a cliffhanger, and I want to know if she is either kidnapped or just left for dead. Messed up? Possibly. Do I care? No.

This book had the potential for a lot of great things, but it fell flat to me. I think that it should have been flushed out a little more with the mystery as well as the friend dynamic, we got just surface level with all the characters, we just needed to get a little deeper with them, well the secondary characters. There was also characters that were important to the plot that just popped up in the end, and we had no hints of them at the beginning, so that was a fun addition....

Also, the hot and cold of Caiden towards Winter was so weird to me. For example he would be hating on her one minute saying he doesn't care about her and the next he would be so proud of her when she made a connection to the mystery that he would throw his hands up and say "That's it! You genius!" And I'm like, "Caiden, are you on drugs stronger than weed because your personality changes are giving me serious whiplash". Those moments would be so out of character for how Caiden has sounded that it felt so choppy at points.

For some reason all of these negatives aren't going to deter me from continuing to the next book. Maybe I am taking what Caiden is, something is wrong with me, but I am just going to blame quarantine.

Ms. Becca Steele, HOW COULD YOU DO THIS?? GAH!! Ok, now that I have that ‘shouty’ moment out of me, I should be good (no promises though)!

In a world of popular foursomes, whether that is reverse harem or college bullies, TLWT is a standout in its own right. I have never read a Becca book before, but I am COMPLETELY 100% ADDICTED to her and her writing style.

The Lies We Tell is a romance, mystery, intrigue, bully, separation, stepbrother, positive parental units (just kidding) story. Our heroine is Winter and ‘The Four’ consist of Caiden, Cassius, Weston and Zayde. 🥰🥰 Winter is an amazing heroine. She is broken and devastated after a family tragedy but is determined to figure out the mystery that surrounds this tragedy. She is a sweet soul with witty humor to boot. The Four are mysterious yet are treated as ‘Kings’ at college. This book is mainly about Winter and Caiden, but don’t despair, there are three other men to drool over, Weston, Cassius and Zayde. (It’s a secret, but Zayde is really mine! 🙊🙊

Sexual tension, sex scenes are out of this world and hot. Example: take a handful of Carolina Reapers, lick and eat them and you may come close the sexual fury that runs its course through the storyline.

I am addicted to this book and can’t wait for book 2. This is an incredible enemies to lovers romance, that is chock full of tension, mystery, intrigued, twists and turns. I HIGHLY recommend this story.

‘The Four’ are rated at: 5 stars!

Yes. Yes. YES.

When I was first informed about this book, I was like, “SIGN ME UP, WTF.”

Drama. Check.
Secrets. Check.
Sassy af heroine. Check.
Hot, broody, possessive men. Check.

This book has it alllll!!

This is my first read by Becca and I am so dang impressed. Everything about this story is EXACTLY my kind of book. I loved the drama. The mystery. The back and forth between Caiden and Winter. The friendships Winter made with the other guys. THE OTHER GUYS.

Caiden and Winter are straight FIRE together. Their chemistry is off the charts. Their banter is a must. I don’t like a woman who just lays down and takes what the man dishes out. I like her to be fiesta. To fight back. That is exactly what she did. She knew her worth.

The ONLY thing that I would change.. I thought the sex could be hotter. Not even hotter. Just more... thorough? If that makes sense. But that is obviously my opinion and I won’t let that change my view on the book at all. The plot is fantastic. The secrets are driving me crazy.. in a good way. The characters are clicking. All in all, a great story and I can’t wait to see what happens next!

“When I look at you. I see you. Not her. You.”

A lot of NA series follow the same structure in terms of characters, but this book completely defied those expectations. I think Winter was the most assertive female main character I’ve ever read about in a NA book, and I liked how Caiden and the other character weren’t nearly as toxic as I expected!

“You looked like you needed rescuing. I saw Cavendish following you.” He glanced at me, a small smile on his lips. “I like to think of myself as a knight in shining armour.” I laughed.
“Thanks, but I don’t need rescuing. I can handle Caiden.”

I didn’t love the writing in this book, it just wasn’t for me, but the plot completely made up for it. Finally, a book where the plot is more than a school rivalry! There’s an actual mystery to solve, and I can’t wait for more information to be revealed.

Okay, I won’t write a long review because I really want to start the next book because of the cliff-hanger ;)

I NEED MORE!

The Lies We Tell by Becca Steele is an addictive read that had me sucked in from the very beginning.

Winter's life is turned upside down when her dad dies. Starting a new school is tough enough. Add in The Four who don't trust Winter from the start and life can be hell.

The Four will make your panties melt. Each one has their own personality - dangerous, fun, smart and a hothead - but they are ALL hot!

This story is full of twists and turns, angst galore, mysteries, secrets and suspense.

I flew through this book! (I read it in one day.)

Becca Steele's writing was flawless and her words lured me in and kept me hooked right up to the jaw-dropping conclusion. I can't wait to get my hands on the next book!
