Light up Kyiv with OSRAM

It's not only the Eurovision stage that brings a light show to Kyiv. For the third year in a row, OSRAM has partnered with the Host City of Eurovision 2017 to create an interactive light show and you can be part of it!

OSRAM will illuminate the Kyiv City Administration building as well as the T.Shevchenko National Opera with the help of fans from Europe and beyond. During the performances in the Semi-Finals and Grand Final, fans will be able to rate each act from 1 to 12 points using the official Eurovision Song Contest app. Each score carries a different colour and the illumination of the buildings will change according to the points that the contestants receive. 

Fans and residents of Kyiv will be able to see the direct result of their votes in the city with their own eyes and spectators from abroad will be able to watch the colour change using the app. The innovation was launched in 2015 in Vienna (pictured below). "The series of impressive illuminations had a dramatic impact on spectators. That is why we are happy to get another opportunity to be partners of Eurovision," said Joachim Schwabe from OSRAM’s Business Unit, Specialty Lighting.  

The voting in the mobile app will not affect the result of the contest but will draw attention to Kyiv’s landmarks and also show how fans have rated each performance. 

Kyiv's cultural landmarks shining bright

The Kyiv City Administration building is located on Khreshchatyk Street, in the heart of the Eurovision Village. Here fans from all over the world will gather to watch the live shows on large screens and at the same time they can also enjoy the light show from OSRAM. "We wanted our guests to remember Kyiv not only for the venue and Khreshchatyk, but also to highlight our cultural buildings," explained Victoria Sydorenko, International PR Manager of the 2017 Eurovision Song Contest. "We want our architectural gems to be more recognisable abroad. The National Opera is impressive and elegant and is the perfect building to show the world," she added.
