Hit the Wall

Rate this book
Jackson thought he knew what love was and feels like he missed his chance at happiness. He realizes he wasted his chance by chasing after one-night stands instead of going after what he really wanted.

Kaylie knows what loss feels like and doesn't want to take a chance on love. She puts up walls to keep her heart protected from experiencing that kind of pain again.

What happens when a guy who refuses to lose out again meets a girl who resists him as much as she can? Will Jackson be able to hit the wall Kaylie has put up and knock it down?

I absolutely adore reading - always have and always will. My friends growing up used to tease me when I would trail after them, trying to read and walk at the same time. If I have downtime, odds are you will find me reading or writing.

I am the mother of two wonderful sons who have inspired me to chase my dream of being an author. I want them to learn from me that you can live your dream as long as you are willing to work for it.

When I told my mom that my new year's resolution was to self-publish a book in 2013, she pretty much told me "About time!"

Kaylie has purposely kept herself distanced from others, only a few have broken through that wall but the thought of losing anyone else in her life is unbearable. The first time she interacts with Jackson she quickly realizes the rumors are true, the man is a walking one night stand and certainly doesn't mince words with his conquests. The second time she steps in to help him out, but instead of a thank you is treated like a conquest. With her claws out she tries to put Jackson in his place but it only peeks his interest.

Jackson's interest in Kaylie is growing by the minute. he doesn't date, doesn't woo, doesn't go out of his way for any woman. All that is about to change though with Kaylie who is a bit reluctant to go on a date. Jackson though plans to show her he is worth it and will pull out all the stops.

Second in the Blythe College series. I liked this one, Jackson is a bit more alpha male and with Kaylie she is full of sass but he likes it. I liked Kaylie, she is direct, determined and you feel for her and her emotions when letting Jackson get close. Looking forward to the next book.

I enjoyed this second book more that I did book one of this series. Jackson and Kaylie were cute and I had a good time reading about Jackson becoming a one woman man. I hope we get more to see of them in the future.

This H Jackson wasn't so creepy as Drake, but this just isn't a series for me.

Don't take my rating or review to heart, because it's a probably me problem and not the book.

Jackson thought he was in love with Lex, but then he gets to know Kaylie and realizes that what he felt for her was totally different. I liked Kaylie her sass, and the funny names from the cocktails.

I think Rochelle Paige really outdid herself with Hit The Wall. I fell in love with this book and especially Jackson. This guy stole my heart from the very first page. He was so wonderful and if you have read Push The Envelope, well he put Drake to shame. Which kept me thinking where has Jackson been all my life and where do I find a guy like him. He could have been my dream man. He was so perfect for me. Well enough about me because, yes, Jackson was swoon worthy, but so was the story it was sweet, poetic, fun, and well so romantic. As romantic as it could get for this young couple we get to meet in this book.

This book starts where Push The Envelope ends This book can be read as a stand alone but I wouldn’t recommend it if you want the entire story. Jackson has just helped one of his fraternity brothers patch things up with his girlfriend. This girlfriend happens to be his sisters best friend and well a girl he so happens to be in love with. Well anyways that’s what he thought. There certainly isn’t any love lost between this other guy and him. He takes his loss in stride and attempts to make sure there is no more trouble with the happy couple. While clearing the air with another women he meets Kaylie. She is by far the most attractive girl he has seen, and Kaylie feels the same about him. The only thing is Kaylie knows Jackson has a reputation. They attend a small college and people talk. Kaylie so happens to be friends with his sister and they take a dance class together. I know just what Jackson needs to fall for another one of his sister’s friends! The thing is Jackson can’t help but pursue Kaylie. They seem to have this hot and cold chemistry that he becomes addicted to. There are a couple of obstacles in the way for Jackson and Kaylie, first he has never been interested in pursuing a relationship and Kaylie doesn’t know if he’s sincere with his actions, then there is the whole thing with college ending and these two both planning to pursue their dreams. I’ll stop there I don’t want to give the whole story away.

I enjoyed about every line of this book. This couples journey was sweet, cool, and bittersweet. They both realize that some great things come from the unexpected. It’s ok to take the road less traveled. Everything has a meaning and purpose. Jackson and Kylie have a unique and addicting relationship that I certainly loved reading.

This is a great series and I recommend keeping your eye out for the rest of the series. I have a feeling that thing can only keep on getting better as the series progresses. I’m actually already anxious for the next book. Hopefully we won’t have to wait for very long.

Oh Jackson what in the world am I going to do with you? You just ooze out sex appeal, "you don't want to get in the middle of this, little girl," he growled at me." He's just a flirtatious boy, "oh, you'll get your apology. Don't worry about that. And thank-you for all of your help," he said with a gleam in his eye that I just didn't trust." It's obvious he has it for Kaylie, "I watched her climb out of the truck and walk into the dorm. Damn, her a** looked good in jeans. I wouldn't mind if my thank-you dinner turned into a night of me giving her something to be thankful for, that was for sure." I mean the boy is just plain hard for his girl, "but one effing thought about Kaylie and I was as hard as I've ever been before. What the eff was up with that? I shifted, trying to get comfortable, but my hard-on wasn't going anywhere. It was like I had taken a Viagra or something. I slowly stroked myself." I mean Jackson isn't the only one who thinks about their other's a**, "I watched his a** when he walked away and couldn't help but wonder if I had left any marks when I dug my nails in last night." I liked this one better than the first one in the series.

I loved Book one with Alexa and Drake. We met Jackson in that book. I didn't realize he had found for Alexa in book 1 because I was so wrapped up in Drake. In this book, we get to meet Kaylie. She is a sweet girl who lost her family and is now trying to pick up the pieces at her parent's alma mater which just happens to be Jackson's school also. Jackson and Kaylie see both seniors on the verge of graduating and moving on with their lives. I loved Jackson in book 1 and he really made me fall for him again in book 2. Kaylie is also very sweet! She is strong and knows what she wants in life, dancing professionally in New York. What happens when your life comes at a crossroads and you have to choose our maybe you don't? I loved this book and can't wait for book 3, Aubreys book! And maybe we will see a wedding or two in the near future, hint hint!!

Another winner!!!

I really liked Jackson in the first book of this series, Push the Envelope. There's something about a guy going all Alpha to protect those he loves. And to see him fall so hard for Kaylie in this book was the sweetest thing I've read on a long time. Sure, he was a man-whore, but when they fall, they fall hard. It was great to witness.
I think my favorite part was that it wasn't the normal angsty (is that a word?) new adult novel. It was 2 adults moving into a really awesome and trusting relationship.

Another great read in the Blythe College series! Bring on Char!!!!!!!

I read this book first and was pleasantly surprised. I love books where the bad boy has a true heart of gold and fights for the girl. This book was paced so nicely and I got the feel of all the characters even though I did not read the first book. I look forward to more books from this author and recommend this book. If you believe in redemption and true love, this is a perfect book!

Jackson and kaylie

Not as good as the first. The very beginning was good with how they met, then it got boring until about 40%. Jackson is the campus playboy whose off a recent heartbreak after seeing his childhood friend fall in love with one of his frat bros and realizing he never got his shot. Only to meet kaylie and relize he never felt how he thought he did.

-H is JP but there’s BARELY any moments to show it. Just see it in his POV in his thoughts.
-Kaylie is a dancer whose not into serious relationships but reluctant to mess with Jackson…?
-Minimal steam
-No drama or angst
-some grammatical errors.
-Lots of reference of Jackson’s “darker/rougher” tastes in bed yet we see NONE of that.
- wasn’t nearly as good as book one which has a OTT JP guy.
-NOT on KU. I kinda hate I bought it because I won’t reread it and I won’t continue the series either.

This book was like romance novel perfection. The kind of book that wraps you up in its story immediately, keeps the butterflies coming, and ends before you're ready to let go. It's smartly written, sometimes funny, and...ugh it did things to my heart.

Rochelle is definitely an author I like very much, I mentioned I came across her by chance on Amazon (don't you just love when that happens?!), and have stalked her ever since. After meeting Jackson in Pushing The Envelope I knew I just had to have his story, so when this opportunity came along I was all over this bad boy. Boy does Rochelle deliver, I was one swoontastic mess! Jackson and Kaylie's story was incredibly sweet, funny and beautiful. I loved Kaylie's character, she was witty, cool, motivated and cute. Their first meeting doesn't go over very well, but minions what Jackson wants Jackson gets! Not that Kaylie was playing hard to get, she just said it how it is cutting through all the BS. We all know Jackson doesn't have the most stellar record when it comes to relationships, so I like that Kaylie kept him on his toes and made him work for it a little. Their chemistry was explosive, and as their relationship developed you could see both characters change. Kaylie became more bold, confident and she was able to stand up to her aunt. I loved her relationship with Charlotte, I wish Char was my BFF that girl is awesome and funny as hell. But what I liked most of all was how Kaylie let Jackson in, I'm not a fan of unnecessary drama or games, and Jackson really was working hard to prove himself worthy of her. They overcame their obstacles together, and came out stronger on the other side.

Sometimes you just have to not take no for an answer and take what’s coming to you. Never give in. Never give up. Stand up and take it. Sounds like that’s what you did.”

“No, I didn’t used to date,” he disagreed. “But I think that’s one rule that’s about to change . You said yes to dinner tomorrow night, so I guess I should say it’s a rule that’s already changed because of you.”

I've said I love Jackson right? It bears repeating minions. Now okay I admit I liked him in Pushing The Envelope, and then kinda wanted to kick him in the shin a little towards the end. I mean Alexa was made for Drake, and hate me all you want but I love Drake more *ducks head*. I was curious how Jackson would even win Kaylie over, because like I said it was a rocky start and she knew about Alexa. But he is one persistent bugger, and who doesn't love an alpha on the hunt? I think Kaylie was good for him for a variety of reasons, I mean he realized he needed to reevaluate his life, and if he really wanted the girl then he needs to get off his butt and get her. He was rather sweet with Kaylie, and I liked how they both made each other a better person. There wasn't much angst in their relationship, it seemed once they overcame the big hurdles, they were able to just be happy together. You can imagine me on my bed dissolved into a puddle of mush, I've actually lost count of all the times I said 'Awe' out loud. Rochelle delivers characters who warm your heart, and give you hope of second chances. She develops them in a way that it feels like you're peeling back the layers, each new chapter shows another facet of them as well as their relationship.

“Cute guy?” he questioned, acting all offended before he picked me up and tossed me over his shoulder. “That’s it. You’ve questioned my manliness. Now I need to show you just how macho I can be.”

“I’m saying that you knocked me on my ass, opened my eyes, and made me realize how wrong I had been. With you, I threw all the rules out the window and didn’t look back because there was just no damn way I wasn’t going to date you."

The ending was damn near perfect, just the HEA we waited for. I mean Rochelle had me worried there for a second, and I found myself sitting up chanting 'no, no, no' toward the last 20-15% or so. My only problem with the book was the lack of drama! I mean sometimes it's cheese and makes us cringe, but dammit we still need some drama. It felt like everything was too good to be true, I was waiting for a vengeful ex, or something with Alexa or....or...something! Rochelle darling you have to give us something, especially with Jackson's history. But it was a good story overall, so I forgive you. My rating stands at 4 boomtatsic stars! I loved the writing style, character development and plot line. I really want Aubrey's story, because I know there is something going on there. Please tell me you're working on it Rochelle? Pretty please? This is a lovely story with a witty heroine and alpha hero who come together and fight for their HEA, it will have you grinning, swooning, cheering and panting minions.

I have been really looking forward to getting Jackson's story since I finished Push the Envelope by Rochelle Paige. He was one of my favorite characters right off, and I knew that his story was going to be one that I really enjoyed. I thought that this was a great addition to Paige's Blythe College series, and even though this is the second book in the series it can be read as a standalone. I would recommend reading these books in order though because they are really good stories and you really get to know the characters better that way. I am really looking forward to getting Jackson's sister Aubrey's story next.

Jackson gave up his one-night stands and sleeping around ways when his little sister's best friend Lex moved on campus. Jackson had waited for her to be over her horrible breakup before he was going to pursue a relationship with her. He believed that he was in love with her, but everything changed when she met Drake. Knowing that she was happy with Drake, Jackson decided to let her be and move on with his life and then he met Kaylie. At first Kaylie isn't interested in anything with Jackson due to his reputation. She has some trust issues after losing her parents and being forced to live with her hateful aunt. But Jackson is determined to prove that he is willing to be patient with her and that she is more than just sex to him. As they begin to get closer, so does graduation. With Kaylie's dreams of being a professional dancer and leaving town, they both begin to wonder if their relationship has a deadline or if they can make it through anything together?

I loved Jackson. I already knew that I was going to love him though after having read Push the Envelope. He was so much better in Hit the Wall though. He was sweet and patient, and he was also really thoughtful. He made it a point to make Kaylie feel special and protected. I loved that he was such a caring guy with his loved ones. Kaylie was also great. She was determined and fun, and I really liked that she was a little bit feisty as well. She wasn't afraid to say what she needed to or to give someone a hard time back.I thought that she was strong and committed to making the most out of her future through her own way. She didn't buckle and do things the way her aunt pushed her to do, but she did what she thought was best for her. I thought that Jackson and Kaylie had a lot of chemistry, and the attraction between them was clear. I did feel like their relationship seemed a little rushed though. It seemed a bit insta-love to me, and I wished that we would have seen their emotional connection develop a little more. Even though they had a few tender moments together and some nice dates, it felt like their connection was mostly just alluded to and we didn't get to see as much of those as I would have liked.

Overall, this book was good and I really enjoyed getting to know Jackson better. I felt like things between Jackson and Kaylie were a little rushed, but for the most part I felt like they were real and believable as a couple. My main criticism with this book was that I felt there was very little conflict. It honestly just felt like most of the story and progression of their relationship was smooth sailing. They never really had any issues or problems to deal with, and I missed seeing how they dealt with obstacles in their relationship. No relationship is ever without problems or issues, and I just didn't really see them experience anything like that. As much as I enjoyed this story, I felt like it wasn't quite as much to my liking as Push the Envelope was. This book is still one that I would recommend to NA fans, especially to those that are fans of Rochelle Paige and to the Blythe College series. I look forward to reading Aubrey's story next though and seeing more of all these great characters.

~My Review~

Kaylie and Jackson are not drawn to each other at first. Kaylie is so busy trying to get through school so she can start her dream job of becoming a professional dancer, and the only thing Jackson wants is another girl he can tie up and gets into his bed and then kick her right out. Jackson doesn't do relationships or at least he thought he didn't until Kaylie.
Jackson realizes Kaylie is different from other girls and he will prove it to her. He has a challenge that he wants to win and conquer her heart.
" You're already different, I've never taken any of them to dinner. I sure a shit didn't bring them flowers or think about what I was going to wear if I saw them. If that's not enough for you then I'll just have to work harder to convince you that I'm not just in this to get into your panties."
Kaylie is so nervous and a little insecure when it comes to Jackson and the feelings they are both so new at having so quickly.

In the end I still adore Jackson and was happy to see his own story. As a reader we get to step into Jackson's naughty bedroom ways and how he really is behind closed doors. But also get the soft side of him and all he wants to be for Kaylie and their future ahead.

This is the Second book to the Blythe College series. I highly recommend this series and have loved both books and characters.

Jackson just missed his chance on the person he thought he had loved for a while. It hurt him, but he wanted her happy. After all, she was one of his closest friends. What he didn’t realize, that he could feel a stronger, more powerful emotion than what he felt for Lex.

When I say that when you meet the RIGHT ONE, you will know beyond a shadow of a doubt. And I don’t think you’re the type of guy who would spend a couple of years messing around with girls when she’s right there in front of you.

Much as I enjoy Lex & Drake’s story, I wanted an HEA for Jackson as well. After all, he’s a great guy who knows how to look after his friends despite the fact that he sleeps around, and shags every girl he encounters. He tells that he needed to sow his wild oats before finally settling down, only that the girl he was waiting for already found someone else before he put a break on his sleeping-around-marathon.

He met Kaylie unexpectedly – I like her character. She wasn’t a complicated person, neither she was over emotional. This girl may have suffered a deep sense of loss when she lost people close to her at a young age, and she had no room for love as of now. She needed to focus on one thing only: DANCE. Unlike some, she wanted to dance right out of college. It wasn’t just a hobby for her, it was her passion. Everything in her life was orderly, until she came face to face with Jackson.

The pull was instant, and unlike before, Jackson didn’t feel like waiting. He wanted to claim her, but he was patient enough to wait until she was ready to sleep with him – pretty much an effort for a guy who gets an invite to bed by every girl he approaches. But, he knew he needed to have her, needed to consume her, and needed to be with her. So imagine my surprise when he started to woo her. Not really the conventional type of woo – he invites her to date (which was really way out of his norms), and spends his time with her.

But Kaylie has walls surrounding her heart, and she had some fear of what exactly to do right after graduation. She was sure of what her direction in life would be, until him. Now, how can she tell him of her plans?

A guy who just had his heart broken, and a girl who had her heart in between tall walls, would there ever be a future between them?

I like this novel because it was (for me) a light read, it didn’t take soooo much drama, but still it had piqued my interest. At first, I was like – how can he possibly forget about Lex in a matter of time, and just went straight into Kaylie – well, I’m glad Rochelle Paige handled the transition well and gave a rationalization that seemed plausible. I like how the story went, I loved the characters, and most especially, I love his kink. OMG. He’s totally hotter in bed than Drake – I can’t believe it! Totally! Well, I was quite expecting quite a big drama at the ending, something with a big blast to end everything up, it didn’t happen – instead I was rewarded with a mellow, heartwarming and feel-good that filled me with content. Can’t wait for the next one in this series!

Hit the Wall is the second book in the Blythe College series and Rochelle Paige's second book. I really loved her debut novel, Push the Envelope, but Jackson's story blew me away.

Summary:
Jackson Silver is hurting after watching his childhood friend and the girl he wanted for himself, fall in love with another man. He's felt something for Alexa for a long time, but he knew she needed time to be ready to date again after what happened to her. So while he was waiting, he sampled what college had to offer. A lot. Now, he's confused about his feelings and the fact he didn't sabotage their relationship when he had the chance. He's also come the realization that he may have lost his chance because of his penchant for one-night stands. Luckily, all of his preconceived notions about love and relationships are knocked out the window when he meets Kaylie. Kaylie Rhodes understands loss. Losing both her parents as a teenager helped to strengthen the wall she puts up around her to keep people out. She has her best friend and dance, and that's what she focuses on. When Kaylie meets Jackson in person, she can't help but admire his sexy body and his ability to send shivers down her spine, but Jackson isn't into dating and his intensity promises that he would demand more from her. Jackson surprises them both in his determination to date Kaylie. She's different from any other girl, even Alexa, and Jackson wants to be the only man for her. The chemistry between them isn't in doubt, and just being together brings them each peace. But, there are communication issues and important discussion are pushed aside in favor of not arguing or worse, losing the other. Jackson has some explaining to do about his feelings for his childhood friend, while Kaylie has kept an enormous secret from Jackson about her future career and where she's going. Both Jackson and Kaylie will have to learn to trust each other, as well as confide in each other or risk their explosive relationship going down in flames.

I really liked Kaylie. She was sweet, yet with an underlying steel in her spine that made her the perfect heroine. Her vulnerability and fear of being left alone drew me in, and I was rooting for her and Jackson from page one. Jackson, I loved him in book one for his determination in keeping his sister and her best friend safe, but he really captured my heart in Hit the Wall. I loved everything about him. He was confused and unsure, yet totally in control and sexy as hell. And the romance he brought to the table was astounding and had me wanting to jump in the book to take Kaylie's place. Together, their insta-chemistry and explosive passion swept me up in their journey and refused to let me out until the last words. My only complaint is I couldn't get a peak into the future in an epilogue. I'm looking forward to Aubrey's story and finding out why she's decided to take a break from dating. Rochelle Paige has come out of left field, determined to take the writing world for her own, and she's gotten a fan for life in me. <3

4.5 stars for Jackson Silver!!!

description

We all remember Jackson from Push the Envelope, Aubrey's big brother, Alexa's protector and according to campus gossip a bed hopping player.

description

Jackson is still trying to resolve the mixed feelings he has for long time friend Alexa. Over the past few years Jackson believed he loved Alexa but since she met and fell happily in love with Drake he no longer knows how he feels. After a conversation with his father leaves him feeling more confused and angry Jackson begins to question whether the feelings he had for Lex were ever actually romantic or just part of the guilt he felt over introducing her to Brad in the first place.

Working her usual night shift at the Roost, the local bar she tends at, Kaylie is surprised to see gorgeous womaniser, Jackson Silver come through the door. After witnessing a not so nice altercation between him and her neighbour, Sasha, Kaylie believes that whilst Jackson may be hot he is also way too intense for her liking. Since the death of her parents Kaylie prefers "safe" and Jackson silver screams anything but safe.

Watching Jackson slumped on the bar, Kaylie soon realises he is not just drunk but coming down with an illness. Unsure of what to do and feeling conflicted Kaylie decides that she owes it to her friend Aubrey who also happens to be Jackson's little sister to make sure he gets home safely.

When Jackson wakes up the next morning hilarity ensues and so begins his intense pursuit for a girl who has spent years building up walls to keep her from being hurt ever again. Jackson is not used to backing off or not getting what he wants and he has decided he wants Kaylie. Can a player really be reformed and can someone who has experienced so much heartache really open herself up enough to trust him?.

Going in to this book I thought I loved Drake but boy, I was wrong. I LOVE Jakcson!. He was a total hottie, he was strong, dominant, bossy, possessive and insanely sweet and protective. Not to mention HOTT in the bedroom. He had me sighing on nearly every page.

This was the perfect romance read, not too much drama or angst but loads of love and panty dropping hotness!.

I am looking forward to reading Aubrey's book next.
