Chris Collinsworth hit the nail on the head Wednesday morning during an appearance on the "Waddle and Silvy" show on ESPN 1000. Described by many as one of the premier NFL analysts, Collinsworth cut to the chase regarding the 2009 Chicago Bears.
"I think they have a chance if their defense is better," said Collinsworth. "This is a very ordinary looking defense right now, and I know they got their corners hurt, and banged up. So you tell me, do you see enough there so far defensively to make you think that that turnaround is going to happen?
"Because I do think that Jay Cutler offensively will put them over the top. If the defense can get it turned around, I think they are competitive. But I have no issues with the offense. I think their offense is going to be good, but I think the defense has to prove itself."
Exactly. We've spent a lot of time this training camp following the progress on offense, but if the other side of the ball doesn't improve this season, the Bears could see a repeat of 2007 and 2008 -- no playoffs.
