We look forward to seeing you at Northern University Mixed Indoor Regionals 2019.  We hope you will have an enjoyable and competitive weekend, and we believe the information contained in this pack will facilitate this. Contact details for the organisers are included if you do have further questions.

Accommodation organiser:         Louis Graham - louis@grahams-home.net - 07964553063

UK Ultimate Events Coordinator:         Meg Price                  events@ukultimate.com

Venue

Address: Sir Tom Finney Sports Centre, University of Central Lancashire, Marsh Lane, Preston,

Lancashire, PR1 2HE

Directions via the train: The station (A) is approx. 8-10 minute walk from the sports centre (B)

Directions via the road: The sports centre is located opposite the Legacy Preston International

hotel on Marsh Lane. It is accessible by car or minibus using the university postcode PR1 2HE via

Marsh Lane (one way road) in the direction towards Corporation Street or vai Leighton Street.

Parking: We have been permitted to use the Leighton Street car park, which is right next to the sports centre. Use the postcode PR1 8RU to be taken straight to the correct car park.

Please note that all the use of other car parks is subject to pay & display conditions, and street parking in the area is subject to enforced restrictions.

Arrival: Please report to the TD desk on arrival to receive any new instructions or any changes to this information. There will not be a separate captain’s meeting, but every team should make sure that a representative checks in on arrival. If you don’t, don’t blame us when you don’t know what’s going on!

Gear: Don’t take all your stuff into the playing area, and certainly don’t leave it on the edges of the pitch. Bags on sidelines are dangerous.

Times:  Games will run from approx. 9:30am to 5:30pm on Saturday, and from 9am to 4:30pm on Sunday.

Paper and Printing

We DON’T intend to print out schedules and copies of this pack for every team. Please make sure you bring your own (or ensure you can access it through your phone) if you need a copy. There will be a large up to date copy at the TD desk throughout the weekend of course.

Safety

Please remember that it is never worth endangering yourself or others to get the disc. Walls and floors are hard, and your body will not react well to crashing into them at speed. Please do remain aware of other players and your surroundings.

There is a corridor downstairs where the entrance to the pitches are located. Please only use this area for spirit circles and calls.

Food and Drink

There is not a café on site. However there are vending machines which supply sports drinks, water and snacking food such as crisps and chocolate.

The sports centre is within easy walking distance of various shops, restaurants, take-aways and pubs which serve food throughout the day. The closest of these are:

Tesco Express - 4 minutes walk - 76 Friargate, Preston, PR1 2LD

Subway - 7 minutes walk - 73 Fylde Road, Preston, PR1 2XQ

The Adelphi - 4 minutes walk - hot and cold cheap pub food - 43 Fylde Street, Preston, PR1 7DP

Ships and Giggles - 4 minutes walk - hot and cold cheap pub food - 3 Fylde Road, Preston, PR1 2XQ

Water will be available from drinking fountains around the building. The closest ones will be next to the entrance doors for the pitches.

Please do NOT take food or drink into the hall itself, other than water in a properly sealed container.

Accommodation

Only teams who have requested accommodation will have it provided. The accommodation is at Tanterton Village Centre.

Address - Tanterton Village Centre, Kidsgrove, Ingol, Preston, PR2 7BX

There is free parking by the hall itself.

We have the hall from 9pm on Friday night, so please aim to arrive from 9pm onwards. You must be out of the hall by 9am on Saturday morning. There will be a room to keep your belongings in during the day on Saturday, if you do not wish to take them with you to the venue. This will be locked during the day whilst the centre is in use.

The centre is available from 6pm on Saturday night. Please do not arrive before then, as there is an event taking place. There are plenty of restaurants which will deliver food to this area - check Just-Eat for your options. You MUST be out of the hall by 8:30am on Sunday.

THERE ARE NO SHOWERS AT THE VILLAGE CENTRE, SO PLEASE SHOWER AT THE SPORTS CENTRE.

Please Note: This is a village centre, which is being used throughout the day on Saturday and Sunday. Treat the hall with care, put your rubbish away and respect the local area. Keep noise to a minimum in the evening and respect the property. If there are any issues, don’t hesitate to contact me. If anything is damaged, please let me know as soon as it happens. If significant charges are incurred, the club responsible will be charged.

Spirit of the game

Spirit scores will be entered through an online form, which can be found here:

http://bit.ly/UXIR2019

You should be able to access the form on your smartphone (or one of your team-mates’ phones – some models seem to struggle more than others) and facilities may be available at the TD desk to input your scores if you can’t get it to work.

Make sure that you enter your scores before midnight on Sunday 27th October otherwise they WILL NOT be counted. This is following changes to the Spirit of the Game at UKU Events by the SotG Committee. Please also note the other changes as outlined by the committee in the announcement linked above.

Although please note that the SOTG award may be given out at the end of play on the Sunday so ideally please enter your scores ASAP as otherwise the winner on the Monday may not be the team that was given the award!

Medical

First aid will be provided by the sports hall staff. Ice will be available from reception if needed.

For serious incidents, the nearest hospital is:

The Royal Preston Hospital

Sharoe Green Lane North,

Fulwood,

Preston

PR2 9HT

Or call 999 for an ambulance.

Schedule

The schedule will be released when ready - sorry! There are likely to be late dropouts from this event, and so we are unable to publish promptly.

The tournament will be played under the UKU Indoor version of the 2017 WFDF rules.

All other game rules, game lengths and formats are explained on the schedule itself.
