National Dental Care Month Is In May

There’s a new national month dedicated to taking care of your smile, May 2018 marks the first annual National Dental Care Month.

National Dental Care Month will be observed annually, beginning in 2018.

According to the good folks at National Day Calendar – who commemorate these days & months:

National Dental Care Month brings awareness just in time for a summer full of family reunions, weddings, and vacations – all times when we love to take pictures and smile! So, brush up on your dental care and check up with your dentist.

It seems like there is a day of celebration for everything, from National Walnut Day to National Harvey Wallbanger Day.

Some deserve the attention and recognition while some seem completely ridiculous…unless it specifically relates to you.

And since there are over 1,500 national days, someone always has a reason to celebrate each and every day, and that’s a good thing.

Sure, there are probably a lot of people out there that couldn’t care less about National Dental Care Month.

But at the very least this new national month of recognition gives dentists, hygienists, dental assistants and other dental industry professionals the opportunity to raise awareness, spread the message of optimal oral health, and celebrate our collective smiles.

And that’s something we can all use a little more of.

Who Is Responsible for National Dental Care Month?

We all owe a big THANK YOU to Dr. Tim Stirneman and Jim Wojdyla at Compassionate Dental Care in Lake In The Hills, Illinois.

The good Dr. Stirneman and Jim Wojdyla founded National Dental Care Month to encourage healthy dental hygiene and improve awareness concerning preventative dental care.

Preventing tooth decay & gum disease before they happen or progree saves us both pain & money in the future.

Congratulations Dr. Stirneman, Jim Wojdyla, and all the patients at Compassionate Dental Care, we all appreciate your hard work in getting National Dental Care Month on the docket!

We look forward to celebrating and helping raise awareness each & every May.

How Can You Participate In National Dental Care Month?

Here are 3 ways:

1. Take stock of your daily dental hygiene regimen

Are you as diligent as you can be about brushing for #2min2x a day, flossing daily, rinsing with mouthwash, and generally treating your teeth & gums like you want them for life?

2. Schedule a visit with your dentist.

If it’s been over six months since your last dental exam or checkup, do yourself a favor and schedule an appointment.

Regular dental visits help us not only maintain a healthy smile, and promote overall health, they also save us money on dental care by catching and treating small issues before they become giant, expensive problems.

The whole “dentistry is not expensive, neglect is” thing.

3. Use the hashtag #NationalDentalCareMonth & share it on social media.

This one is probably the easiest way to observe National Dental Care Month, just Like, Tweet, Share, or +1 this post & others you see with the commemorative hashtag – don’t forget the #NationalDentalCareMonth.

While you’re at it you can also give a shout to Compassionate Dentalcare on Facebook.
