Request for Applicants – Board of Directors
New Voices for Reproductive Justice which includes New Voices Pittsburgh, New Voices Cleveland & New Voices Philadelphia – collective called New Voices – is the premier Reproductive Justice and Human Rights organization in the Rust Belt Region.

For the last 12 years, New Voices has served 20,000+ Black women and girls, women of color and LGBTQ people of color through leadership development, community organizing, policy advocacy and culture change. We define Reproductive Justice as the Human Right of all women/people to control our bodies, sexuality, gender, work and reproduction with social supports and free from violence.

New Voices promotes the complete health and well-being of Black women and girls, our families and communities. Our definition of health includes physical, emotional, spiritual, cultural, political, economic/financial, environmental and social well-being.

As New Voices grows our organization and movement, we seek powerful, transformative and visionary leaders to guide the next era of our work. We are currently seeking 9-11 new Members for our Board of Directors from Pennsylvania, Ohio, Washington, DC and New York. If you think you have what it takes or you know someone who would be a great addition to our leadership team, please express interest by December 1 and apply by December 4.

Our mission is to build a social change movement dedicated to the health and well-being of Black women and girls through leadership development, Human Rights and Reproductive Justice. Our vision is to achieve the health and complete well-being of Black women and girls, our families and communities.
HERStory
New Voices was founded by La’Tasha D. Mayes, Bekezela Mguni, Lois “Toni” McClendon and Maria Nicole Smith on March 16, 2004 to mobilize women of color in Southwestern PA to attend the March for Women’s Lives in Washington, DC.  A decade later, New Voices is building the movement for Reproductive Justice in Pennsylvania and Ohio.
Reproductive Justice
- Reproductive Justice is the belief that all women/people should control our
bodies, sexuality, gender, work and reproduction.

- Reproductive Justice is:
(1) a social change movement led by women of color;
(2) a theory of reproductive freedom for all people; and
(3) an everyday way of life that
affirms the multiplicity of identity.

- Reproductive Justice requires the following conditions: all women have the Human Right to
decide (1) if/when we have children; (2) if/when we will not have children and (3) how we parent
the children we already have free from individual, community or state-sanctioned violence.

- Reproductive Justice affirms the intersection of identities and challenges systems of oppression.

- Reproductive Justice calls us to be the experts on our own experiences leading multi-identity,
multi-issue, multi-strategy local movements for Human Rights.
